There are many good choices when it comes to scopes. A lot of people really love the Zeiss Conquest, Vortex is really making a name for them selves and are very reasonably priced, Nikon has a good fallowing and of course then you have the Swaroski. But for me I am a Leupold man. Their customer service is second to none, great quality, very clear, oh and they are AMERICAN MADE. These days I am looking to keep all my money here in the states. Now I know there is better optics out there but if you look at all the different factors the Leupold is hard to beat IMO.

Bullets in the mag getting deformed???
desertdog replied to lionhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If I am reading your post right I don't think your problem is when the first shot is fired. It is the magazine that flattens out the tip, not the first shot. Many guns/calibers have this problem it is quite a common problem. And not just the .30s. My .280 and 7 mag do it as well. -

desertdog replied to archery nut's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Wow, great job and awesome buck. -
You know that would not be that different than a lot of the hunts you see on TV. High fences, feeding areas, pet animals, ya thats hunting. But on the other hand that is a African Safari than I could afford........atleased until they caught me

My thoughts exactly Casey, this thing would have really been a site if he were finished growing and hard horned. But if I had the chance to shaft him I would have to. And I am in no way a bow hunter.

Very cool pic. Looks like those guys had a lot of fun. I always like looking at pics of my dads past hunting trips before I was old enough to go along.

A salute to the ignorant among us

Wow, it is scary to think that there are people like this that walk the streets. I fear for our safety. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEz3PKsTkCQ...feature=related -
My dad found this set back in 1985. He was on a hunt with friends in 36c and found this set sitting in the fork of a mesquite tree. It was the full skull, he cut it off to mount on the board. It has been hanging in my grandpas bunkhouse for almost 20 years. I had my dad bring it back after his last visit so I could post the pictures. I am guessing it will score 95 to 98. My best friend has a 90 on his wall and this is a little bigger than his.

Buck at water

Cool pic, thanks for posting. -
Very well said .308Nut. People always forget about wind drift and that is a bear to deal with. That is why I always choose the heavier bullet. I really like the 150gr but thats just my opinion.

Bear Arms and Protest
desertdog replied to youngbuck's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I see your point TAM but come on. Just because you can do something does not mean you should or its the right choice to do it. Things are so heated right now that the last thing we as gun owners need is someone to cast us in a negative light. He did nothing wrong yes, but I am a big advocate of defusing a situation not escalating it. Just my thoughts. -
Brett Favre is officially a Viking!
desertdog replied to Snapshot's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
You know its just something about he goes about it that turns me off. Does he really thank he is fooling anybody. He retires after the season and then comes back after training camp. He is turning himself into the Barry Bonds of the NFL. Last year when he was with the Jets he would stay in a different hotel than the rest of the team. Dress in a different room than the rest of the team. He is the quarterback right. He is supposed to be the leader. The guy that the team can rally around, the guy the team can look to when they need a steady strong leader. The way he is acting now is that he is in it all for himself. His new team can smell that from a mile away. When the chips are down will they be there to pick him up? His act is for form how the true greats Montana, Elway, Marino, Bradshaw, Star, Unitas would handle themselves. -
does it have pictures of a bear ripping it off of a tree or a guy packing in a bag of corn..............oh wait sorry wrong thread. Just kidding everyone, come on we all need a good laugh.

I know I was thinking the same thing. It was right before bed time and a long day I guess. They are very camera friendly, my wife is a pictureaholic and always has a camera in their face. Maybe they were just freaked out that dad was taking there picture and not mom.

You can find them at Sportsmans, but Camraland has a big selection.

Lol yup I am positive it came from 36c no bs. It was almost 30 years ago so maybe back then they had better eye guards

+1 I have the Leupold VXIII 4.5X14X50 and love it. But The Vortex are very good glass. My brother has the Viper 6.5X20X50 and it is a really good scope. I like my Leupold a little better but for the money I think my next scope will be a Vortex.

I drove down 286 on my way to Arivaca lake a couple weekends ago and it looked pretty good from the car. Very green and lush on both sides of the the street. Cant say what it looks like back in there.
