Thanks guys. I have all the manuals and will start there. I was just wondering if anyone on this site had a load they were fond of. Ya Lark it is a older 1894. My great grandfather on my grandmothers side bought it around 100 years ago to carry as his saddle gun on his ranch in New Mexico. Then he sold it to my great grandfather on my grandpas side before my grandpa and grandma were married. Its been in my family the whole time. My dad and uncle both took there first deer with it. As far as the 117gr bullets it has always seemed to shoot them fine. I have not done a lot of shooting with it as its more of a heirloom. But I will do some shooting with it and see how it does with the bigger bullets. My goal is to take a carp with it one day sense everyone else in my family has. My grandpa would get a lot out of seeing it in action one more time before his days are over. Hes 92 and that gun means a lot to our family. Thanks again for the replies!!!!!

So you want to be seen in public watching soccer. Its bad enough watching in the privacy of your own home but to do something so vile right out in front of everyone for all to see......well that is just wrong. Just kidding hope you enjoy the game.

Great choice.......I have a .257 Roberts and it is a great round. It is not my everyday shooter anymore but I used it for a few years and it did a great job for me. I killed a few mule deer and Coues with it. You wont be disappointed.

My grandpa named one of his guns Harry Truman because of that sign he had on his desk that said "the buck stops here"..... I like the Isabelle Idea......That would be cool the bell has rung or Izzy has spoken....

I posted this in the "Hunting in Arizona Forum" but I thought it applied here also. You know it really says something about the state of our great country when our state has to pass a law to make illegal immigration illegal. I'm sick and tired of being called a ignorant racist redneck hick because I believe that our immigration laws should be enforced. Their argument is often we are racial profiling those that don't look like us. Well they are profiling me and the others like me because we don't share their views. How ironic is that? As so many others I have no issues with people from other country's wanting to come to our great nation to make a better life for them self. I do have a issue with those that have no regard for the laws of this country and choose brake those laws and come to this country illegally. I realize it takes a lot of time and effort to file the papers and wait in line to become a legalized citizen. However that is the law and it needs to be fallowed........period! I'm not racist because I feel our laws should be enforced. I don't care what country you are form, or what the color of your skin is. If you are from Ireland and you are here illegally then you need to go. I don't know what the answers are or the best ways to fix this problem. I have my believes on what would help, and they are the same as many of you have already shared. I do know I am tired of people not respecting our laws and choosing to try to force themselves into our country. What they don't seem to realize is that if they keep coming here and not upholding the laws this country will soon be no better than the one they just left. We have all witnessed the strain that this issue puts on our economy. We have all been forced to watch the impact this issue has on our hospitals, schools, jobs safety and so on. When will enough be enough. How much are we going to have to pay as a nation before our rights are protected. I have a right to enjoy this country and the land within its borders. I have a right to hunt, fish, camp, sight see etc. as long as I am doing so lawfully. The people that are opposed to this bill are concerned about civil rights being violated. What about our rights as sportsman and American citizens that are being encroached upon because it is not safe to partake in the things that we love and hold dear because it is just not safe any longer to do so. What about good people that live and work along the border that have seen their personal property robbed, vandalized by those that are here illegally. Look no further than the Krentz family and the price they paid, what was taken away from them. Its is to much for my little mind to comprehend that some in this nation are outraged that our law-enforcement may ask some individuals for proof of citizenship if they have a reason to believe they are in this country illegally, but are not concerned in the leased that many of our citizens live in fear everyday while just doing their jobs along the border. If they had to deal with the horrors for a split second that the Krentz family is forced to deal with for the rest of their lives they may have a different outlook on the situation. Something has to change folks, this problem is getting worse and more violent day by day. When will people realize that this has nothing to do with race and everything to do with equal justice.

Has anybody been listening/watching Glenn Beck the last few years/months. I have my own thoughts on him (I will keep to myself at this point), but I really think that he has been starting a lot of good debate for our beliefs. I want to hear what members think of him. Good or bad, I think there may be some both ways. If you are not watching/listening you may want to start. He is very interesting to say the least. So lets hear it, is he good or bad for our cause?

I agree Bill. I really like what he has to say. I think he is very different than the rest of the republican mouth pieces. He is a Conservative but he is not afraid to give it to the republicans when they are out of line. I don't agree with all he says but a good deal of it. My only problem with the guy is he is such a drama queen. I really wish he would think about how he comes across.

Okay let me start off by saying I am not a bow hunter and do not plan on being one anytime soon. However I had a discussion with my best friend well he is more my brother than my best friend but I digress. He has a concern that all these HUGE bucks being taken and posted on sites such as this may lead to the stop of the over the counter archery tags due to the increase of out of state hunters coming here to take a trophy. Interesting thought, I can say I would hate to see that even though I am not a archery hunter but I would also hate to see all the great posts from good hunters with their hogs. I don't know, what do you all think. Its a good debate I think.

I think I know what Dustin was trying to say about the "lazy" part. I don't think he was saying if you sit a stand for hours on end you are lazy. I think he was trying to say that compared to hiking all day up and down canyons chasing the deer around that sitting a stand is not as much physical work. I think he grew up like me with the mind set that if you want to see deer and increase your chances of taking one then you need to get your but out there and find one. I guess its kind of the old timers mentality. My grandpa grew up hunting that way taught my dad how to hunt that way and he well passed it on down to me. For years I thought that the guys just walking into a good vantage point, sitting on their butt glassing all day were lazy. I know now the truth and have taught my dad a thing or two when it comes to this strategy. It is not lazy at all just the best way to see the most amount of deer. As far as the topic, I think that archery may come to a draw one day and it may be soon. But I don't think that the Internet and web sites will be the driving factor. I think that archery overall is becoming a much more popular way to hunt. And I don't think it is because of the great bucks that are being taken. I feel that it has grown in popularity so much because of the exposure it has gotten on TV hunting shows and for the fact that it opens up so many more hunting opportunity's for the sportsman. I know a lot of guys that look at it and say hey I will go ahead and hunt with my rifle but before my rifle hunt starts I can get out with the bow and see if I have any luck. And also if I don't get one during my rifle hunt then I can be right back in the woods with my bow and hunt the rut. So if it does come to a draw someday I don't think we can blame sites like this one. It may play a roll in it but a very small one. Just my thoughts

That may be true. What I would really be interested in hearing is if they have any bullets in stock at a reasonable price.

I heard a member stuck a cow elk this mourning at about 6am. I know it is not as sexy as a big bull but still pretty cool .

What's Up With The Signs
desertdog replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Steven I know you are talking about access through private but the rules still apply. Would you allow vandals in your own home. Would you let a reckless person drive your car. Its the same thing. For every responsible hunter going through that landowners private personal land there is just as many hunters that don't respect the privilege they are given and cause harm to the landowners personal property. I don't know about you but I am busy enough with my day to day responsibility's to have to fix, rebuild, pick up after someone else's reckless behavior. And no I am not a land owner. Also for your point that the Game and Fish are posting these signs that may or may not be true. I have spoken to a few different land owners that have told me that the Game and Fish will provide the signs and the landowners put them up. I dont see an issue even if the Game and Fish officer is posting them. It should be a partnership. Just as there should be a partnership between landowners and sportsman. I know you are a sponsor of this site and knowing that I will try to phrase my next comments as respectfully as I can. Do you have the respect and trust of the landowner that wont let you in. You said he is picking and choosing so why is he not choosing you. Does he know you have his best interest at heart. If he does he probably would let you have access. If he knows you are a guide and that you rely on access to make make your living and knows you will respect and watch over his land like it were your own then the landowner most likely would not have a issue giving you access to public. -
Does anyone know what the world record non-typical Coues with a bow is. Just wondering.

Thanks Couescrazy33, I looked it up and it is 124 0/8. So the one that was 133 to 135ish guided by Wards Outfitters should smash the old world record right?

I got ya Redneck. I was picking up on your sarcasm but you can never be to sure with a Raider fan I'm with you, I don't have a trail cam or a blind or a tree stand for that matter. And I know what you mean about graduating to that point. Some guys have graduated to being trophy hunter, while I am still very pleased with a fork on the second day of a 10 day hunt. With that being said I am going to try to hold out a little longer this year but we will see if I am that strong. -

Okay I have my own thoughts about cameras, they really don't bother me to much if they are used correctly. But to say just scrap them and they wont be stolen is BS in my opinion. I do not own a trail camera or a blind. But I do believe that people have the right to use them and put them out as long as the are fallowing the law and use common courtesy. Just because they are out does not give other the right to take or tamper with other peoples property. That argument is the same as saying well if you drive a car your just asking for it to be stolen. That is horse crap. -

What's Up With The Signs
desertdog replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Perhaps the AZGFD is working with the land owners in that area to improve land owner relations to keep the private access open to public. For example Rock Creek Lane in in a certain souther Arizona unit . The more the Game and Fish can do to foster a solid relationship between the hunters and land owners is a huge positive. It is then up to us the hunters to help police the access and respect private property. I know we hate to see access points to locked up, and it can be very frustrating. But I cant imagine how much the land owner hates to see their personal property (fences, gates, live stock, drinkers, windmills) tampered with/used for target practice. Bottom line its a respect issue. I don't mind them using OUR money to put up signs if it helps keep access open. In this case access may not be open but they may be working to get to that point. Or that land owner may have other access points that are open but this one stretch is not. This is always a sticky subject, private property/land owners, and hunting access, but a good debate none the less. -
Great job and great buck.
