NO KIDDING - how do Rutgers and Cincinnati end up having better recruiting classes than ASU or ua. Pathetic. all of you wanna be kittie fans that think that player from CDO is going to be a heisman trophy candidate better think again. ua will be lucky if he even sees the playing field. he will have to work VERY hard at: 1) being eligible from an education standpoint 2) being eligible from a disciplinary standpoint 3) learning and understanding a college playbook. Oh come on Devil..........would you be singing that same tune had he committed to ASU. I agree with number 1 but 2 and 3 is pure hyperbole. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Heck he already showed great intelligence by knowing not sign with ASU. Heisman candidate no way. Impact player more than likely. The truth is recruiting is a crap shoot to begin with. Only time will tell how these kids will develop. no sour grapes here dog. I was really actually a little disappointed when I heard ASU was going after him. IMO, no sense wasting time on someone who isn't going to be able to hang in college. and I guess the people I know in high school athletics that said he was suspended for two games for disciplinary purposes don't know what they are talking about. and he might not even be eligible to get into nogales north let alone stay eligible once he enrolls. hopefully it works out for him but he has a tough road ahead of him that is going to take a lot of hard work and discipline. So you were disappointed they were recruiting Carey? Were you equally disappointed ASU recruited Vontez Burfect a few years back. And how has he turned out for you. Sure Burfect has provided ASU with more than a few embarrassing moments but overall he is the best player ASU has and the best line backer in the Pac. He was a much bigger risk not to stay in school than Carey is. And I have no idea if the people you know in high school athletics are right or not. They could be. But it is more widely reported the reason he missed a few games this year was due to injury. He will make it into Nogales North (as you call it) cant you come up with something more original. Hey don’t you live in Nogales North by the way? Hey when you went to ASU were you one of the students that would throw tortillas at or football team, or chanted "where is Bobbie" At Lute Olson after she died of cancer. Surely you are to young to be one of the ASU students that taunted Steve Kerr with the "PLO" and "where's your dad" chants after Kerr's father was assassinated by the PLO in Beirut. But I digress. Not all ASU grads are bad people. You seem to be a pretty cool guy and our new AD Greg Byrne is a ASU grad and I think he is going to be great!!!

And if my aunt had a package she would be my uncle. USC, ASU were not eligible so we can leave ifs and buts out of it. USC cheats UofA didn't. ASU scheduled to many cupcakes and were not eligible UofA scheduled appropriately. As far as Miller and company falling apart next year don't count on it. This team is not a flash in the pan. Yes Williams is the best player on the team but how soon you forget about how well Miller is recruiting. I proved that point once do we need to go over it again? A top 10 ranked recruiting class coming in next year. All is good.

  6. I light of the recent shootings I think it is appropriate for me to share this story. My older sister for much of her adult life was lost in drugs. She lost her marriage, her two sons, and her family because of her addiction. I cant begin to express how lost she was. She and her boyfriend who was also a user were in and out of jail, rehab, lost all their possessions several times. Their lives were in total peril. For many years my parents tried to help her in any way they could. And many times my sister led them and the rest of our family down a path of lies. I could go on and on about how helpless the outlook for my sister was. But to make a long sad story short I will just say she and her boyfriend had finally burned all their bridges. There was no place left for them to turn. As her family we had exhausted all of our energy, love, money and support. We had to take the tough love path with her and take a wait and see kind of outlook, I cant tell you how hard that was. However about four years ago she turned back to her roots. She and her boyfriend started attending church. We had seen this act before however and we were very skeptical on their true intentions. We kept in contact and gave her constant encouragement to keep attending church and to make the necessary changes in her life. When her and her boyfriend started attending this church there was one elderly couple that took a interest in them. They gave them constant support. They knew their background in drugs but that did not stop them from taking them into their own home. This couple helped my sister get into a hotel room for several weeks so they would not be homeless. They then help them get into their first apartment. They even help my sister and her boyfriend to get married. This couples unwavering love and support was just amazing. My parents had a talk with this couple when they first started helping my sister to let them know that they had seen this story from her before. My parents informed them to be careful that my sister and boyfriend my be just using them to just get what they can. This couple told my parents they knew the risk they were taking. But they felt it was a risk worth taking. They truly wanted to help my sister and her boyfriend turn their life around. Over the last four years this couple have been right by my sister and brother in laws side. This couple called them their kids, they felt that close to them. This couple is Dorwin and Mavy Stoddard. Saturdays tragic shootings hit way to close to home for all of us in the Tucson community. But it was Saturday that our family lost a man that gave so much to our family. Dory (friends called him Dory) died a hero protecting his beloved wife. But he was already my sisters and brother in laws hero. We are so grateful that Mavy survied this senseless and grotesque act. My heart and prayers go out to all the victims of Saturdays shootings. I felt it was only fitting to share this story with everyone. Too let everyone know a little more about one of the fallen of this tragedy that has touched our community. Thanks you for reading this long post, and god bless.

A sad but yet inspirational story

Funny you mention that Bob. That is how my sister Kat and brother in law Lonnie discribe the Stoddard's.......as their Angels.

    Congresswoman Giffords shot

I think a point that needs to be remembered is that when someone points a finger at somebody else, there are 3 fingers pointing right back at them. Has anything come out indicating that this guy heard or listened to any "rhetoric" from the right? FYI - there is just as much rhetoric from the left. maybe that is what set him off. Great point Devil!!!!! One I also made earlier in this thread. I don’t understand why Jamaro chooses to single out the Tea Party and Republicans for rhetoric. I asked and would like an answer from him on why he did not include the other side as well. They are just as guilty. But for some unknown reason he chooses not to talk about them.

Wow that’s cool to see that you lived so close and knew the Stoddard's. You probably have seen or may have even talked to my sister and brother in law. When Mavy and Dorey would go on vacation they would house sit for them. And yes Mavey will have tons of support. That’s one of the benefits of living ones life the way the Stoddard’s did. They helped so many that in their time of need there is many people that are willing and want to give back and help in return. And thanks for the kind and inspirational words that all have written in this thread!!!

    Second Amendment

Wow I have to say I am a little surprised by the overwhelming lopsided vote. When I voted it was 97% yes 2% no 1% undecided. Happy to see that though.

    Congresswoman Giffords shot

jamaro..........why do you zero in on the rhetoric from the right? It is appalling to me that so many are quick to point out what the conservatives are saying but choose to ignore the same speak from the left. If you listen to the liberal talk shows (Ed Shultz) or listen to the some of the rhetoric that people like Pelosi spew, how is it any different/not as bad as what is being said form the conservatives. You should have stopped at "you cant fix crazy". Because in all truth that gets to the heart of this shooting. This man was mentally unstable. That is why he did this. Not speak from the tea party‘s, talk show hosts, or legislators. The responsibility is his and his alone. To even suggest that blame lies on any other party is irresponsible and folly at best. Many good people lost their lives in this tragedy I knew one of them personally (story on that later). To direct attention and blame away from Loughner in any from or fashion is doing a great disservice to the six that were killed and the others that are injured. Blood is on the hands of Loughner not anyone else. Responsibility rests at his feet. he is the one who carried out this grotesque act, and to suggest he was motivated by the tea party or constrictive shows YOUR ignorance. Loughner was not a Republican nor a Democrat. He however is a registered independent. For you or anyone else to suggest its the rambling of the republican party or tea party’s is misguided and un-factual. It could be just as easily as said that the rhetoric from the left is to blame. But that would be equally as misguided and wrong. because like I have stated its not political. This all begins and ends with Loughner. The blood is on his hands and his alone. When people get into the blame game that is a slippery slope. Why stop the blame with the tea party’s and conservatives. If you fallow that line of though one could carry the blame out to Sportsmans Warehouse (where he bought the gun). Or to Walmart where he bought the ammo, or to Glock the manufacture of the gun he used. Blame needs to be directed and channeled correctly. That blame rests with one person and one person alone. Jared Loughner!

    Whitetail or Mule deer

No doubt a mule deer but I wonder why some get the whitetail rack. That is a whitetail "looking" rack all the way. My grandpa shot a mule deer buck in New Mexico many years back that on one side was a perfect whitetail rack and on the other a perfect mule deer rack. The deer was Muley all the way but it is interesting to look at.

    Cats Embarrassed

All you ASU people talkin about the quality of education at the UofA is down right hilarious. Come on I know you guys don't like UofA but please don't pretend that ASU is a better school or harder to get in to than the UofA. Truth be told (and I know this is no fun) they are both good schools.

    Cats Embarrassed

Yup it got ugly fast last night. The football team is in a real bad way right now. I think if next year turns ugly it will be Stoops last at UofA. I am really surprised how bad Foles looked last night. Three pics and one of them for a TD. OKST is the better team no doubt about that. And that's not really a surprise, 10-2 coming into the game. The cool thing about college sports is after one sport season is over you can fallow a different one. Time to turn my attention to basketball season now. It will take a while to get into basketball mode after fallowing football.

    Looking for a weapon

You did not read it wrong. I never disagreed with what you said about its all on the hunter. In fact I said I agree with you that in the right hands any weapon can kill any game your hunting. However even the best hunter can be off by a few inches. Anything can happen. The animal can move, a bee could fly down your shirt right before you pull the trigger and all of the sudden you pulled the shot just a few inches. Now would you rather be off with a .243 or .270. And with a good recoil pad the weight of the semi auto and shooting say a 130gr bullet the .270 recoil is not bad. Most women and kids will be able to handle it just fine. But like I stated many times that’s just my preference. I aint bothered non if any one wants to shoot the .243 for elk. More power to ya.

    Looking for a weapon

I dont recall the OP saying his wife was a pigmy, caveman or a Indian form the old days that is good at killin stuff with poison darts, spears, or runnin game off of cliffs. I do recall him sayin that she is a inexperienced hunter that does not have much experience with guns or a bow. I agree that in the right hands any weapon is deadly on any game. Buts that’s not really what we are talkin about. All I am sayin and all I have ever said is that if you have a choice to choose a caliber with a little extra punch for a hunter that is not very experienced why not go with the bigger option. We can bring all kinds of crazy scenarios into the equation but is that really getting us anywhere. And what I was saying about bow hunting being a different ball game than the hunting with a gun is most people use totally different tactics when hunting with a bow vs. hunting with a gun. Now if more people applied the bow hunting tactics when hunting with their gun then more people would be using lighter calibers.

    Looking for a weapon

Okay Lark question for ya. Why do you choose a .270. I’m not sayin and never did say that a .243 would not get it done. I just feel there are a lot better choices out there for a all round big game caliber. If I had a choice between a .270 and .243 for elk I would choose the .270 every day of the week. And a .270, .280 or 30-06 can be loaded down with light recoil for a kid or woman that is recoil shy. Again just my opinion. and as far as the bow questions goes that is a totally different ball game.
