Well I would recommend Chuck Meachum. I have had a deer and lion done by him, no quail. But When I was in getting my stuff taken care of I have seen quail he has done, and wow. They have been really life like. He has done everything from elephants to quail. Check him out. I will see if I can get some pics up of the deer he he has done for me. DD -
This pic was posted on here yesterday I think. I cant remember what topic it was posted under. There is a lot of rumors going around about this buck and were it was taken. To make a long story short, so people in the know on this forum confirms it was a New Mexico buck. Taken from a private ranch some were near Silver City if I am not mistaken. DD

Wow, unbelievable. That is a monster. I have to say I grew up hunting mulies in New Mexico and Arizona so I have a huge soft spot for them. That is just a greta buck. I would kill for a deer like that. It just gets my blood pumpin. DD

I am a huge classic country fan, love listening to Willie, Waylon, and Marty all the time not just when I am camping or hunting.

What worries more than BO and Biden taking my guns is so called sportsman like you that want to stand by and watch it happen! If guns, ammo, brass, primers, powder, and bullets are banned then just how long is my stock pile supposed to last? Black market is an even worse idea. I hope that BO can get us out of our economic mess. I hope the changes he's planning for our country are healthy and I Hope he has more success than Bush had. But it scares me to death what he wants to do with our right to bear arms. Furthermore, it sickens me that hunters and gun owners don't see the threat that BO and Biden pose to our 2nd ammendment rights and are ok to stand by and watch it all get taken away! Reinacting the assult weapons ban, making it permanent. Child proof locks on all guns. No gun shops or manufacturers within 5 miles of a school. Making the manufacturer of assult weapons illegal in the US. 500% federal tax on ammo and components. Making the sale of brass, bullets, primers, and powder illegal. Doing away with concealed carry permits. Making it illegal to carry a gun in your vehicle or person. Allowing gun manufacturers to be sued for guns used in crimes. What did I leave out? Wake up people! preach it brother!!!!!

You know Jamaro, I have my doubts about Obama, and I will wait before judging him.....I supported Bush....but you are absolutely correct, Bush has totally failed the American people, time and time again. I fell like he took my allegiance to the president for granted. I cannot believe our national debt has grown so much under Bush....I am worried about some of the talk about Obama and guns, etc. But the damage that has been done to our country in the past 8 years in incredible....I also know that one man did not do it all, but I would love to turn back the past 8 years and do it over again. Coues Krazy, how can anybody not want to change this path we are on, doubled our national debt in less than 10 years? Who is gonna pay for this? Redman Redman, you are right Bush has his finger prints on this mess and he could have done more to help the situation. However don't forget we have had a Democratic controlled Senate and House that make just as many laws, policies as the president. Don't forget their involvement in Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. I feel this is truly a bipartisan issues. Plenty of blame to share in both camps. And yes the bail outs are a huge concern. I worked for Payless Cashways when they filed Chapter 11. No one bailed them out. Granted they did not employ as many as the auto makers. But I don't think bailing them out will help the country. I feel they need to fail, restructure and fix their problems from within. Just my thoughts. DD

Shawn, are you saying that unless one is a member of the NRA they have no right to post on this site. I hope that is not what you are saying. This site is for opinions, it is an open forum, its not the same as saying if you did not vote then you don't have the right to complain. I feel we do have a responsibility to stand up for our second amendment rights. We can all do that in different ways. Some people may not have the money to join a group like the NRA. All people dont have the extra $60.00 bucks in their pocket to join. Does that mean they don't have the right to speak out on this forum. Those people can help in so many other ways. They can, inform others of their rights and how to stand up for them. They can call their Congress, and Senate reps so they know how their constituents feel. As for me, I am not a member of the NRA. I am currently researching what group I want to join (NRA, SCI, Gun Owners of America), and that will be my Christmas gift from my wife. DD All am am saying is the next 4 years could be tough on us as gun owners and there are strength in numbers. A one year memberbership is $35 I am with you man. The key is sticking together. The next four years will be the hardest on our rights. It is amazing to me that some gun owners / hunters think that Obama and his administration wont try to take our right.

Well just going by what was described to me if this in one it would be a monster. And also the picture just may make it look bigger than it really is. From what I was told the rack would be the size of a large grapefruit, or small cantaloupe. Sorry for the fruit talk. Its just the best way to describe it. DD

Sounds like we have a midget, oh sorry "little deer" Monster Quest going thing here. Many people believe that there is such a deer. And others Like Bill and myself will take a wait and see attitude. Never hurts to talk it out and see what we all come up with on this topic. It is very interesting to me, and I love to see the comments, and see that they are wide spread. Not just the reports of Douglas and Chiricauha's like I was hearing about. But all over the west. That is pretty cool. Keep the comments and pics coming. DD

That is so funny how you describe "both your hands put together". Both of the people I have talked to did the exacts same thing while describing them. I am not trying to make this up or nothing, just sharing what I have heard. And that is just the way people describe there racks. Always with there Hand's put together, just like a basket. The first time I heard of them I thought it was not true. But when the second guy told me about them it got me thinking. Just because they both described them the same way. I guess I would not be shocked if they were normal Coues. Just a little buck with a tight spread. I guess I would have to see one to understand. DD

Great buck, good job guys

Man, this is almost like hunting from your computer. Its just challenging picking them up from the pics. Its great.

WOW, Great topic ,and Awesome pics huntaholic, that is just a great series of pics from the deer standing to him bedding frame by frame. You can see how they just disrepair. Great knowledge to have. Just picking up on the little things like an antler in the shadows or the frame of the head. This should remind us of why we love to hunt these Little things. So frustrating but rewarding all at the same time. DD

Nice first buck. There is something special about taking your girls out hunting. people are alway so surprised that girls like to hunt. My oldest is 8, I cant keep her from going with me yote calling and bird hunting. Next year will be her first deer hunt if we can get drawn. DD

My advice would be use the same round you are using for deer (unless you are shooting a very light bullet). The reason I say this is because if you are shooting the same round for deer year after year, you are probably used to the round. And when it comes time to pull the trigger you wont have to think "okay I am shooting a heavier bullet so I need to hold...." when you start changing bullets and loads you have to learn that load all over again. As you know shot placement is the most important thing. Good Luck. DD

Well guys it is not looking good if you are a McCain supporter. Its 730 here in Arizona and looks like Obama has it all wrapped up. I feel this will be a scary next four years for our gun and hunting rights, not to mention other issues like taxes, health care, and national security. The man wants to raise gun taxes 500 percent, outlaw all handguns and shotguns, and feels you have no right to protect yourself with a firearm, do you really think he gives a Darn about our hunting rights. ???????

Obama OH NO!!!!!!!
desertdog replied to desertdog's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I agree with you that we need to stick together but I think we also need to remember that we are the minority. I hate to use the example but the banning of gay marrage in cali and our amendment to the state constitusion is a great example. Do you think that the guys stuck together to fight it? They sure did but the majority won. What I'm saying is that we also need to reach out, or at least keep a good image, to the non sportsman. I've said it once but I'll say it agian, I'm glad we have science on our side. Well the logical science. my $0.2 That is what I was getting at. We are the minority but if we pull together and speak out and influence others beyond our tight knit group we will make a difference. It can be as simple as reaching out for youth in your neighborhood and taking them hunting. My Kids have a friend that comes from a single family home. His mother is not a hunter and would never think of taking him out. This past Dove season I asked his mother if she would mind if I took him with me and my kids dove hunting. She agreed and he loved every minute of the trip. His mom loved that her son was able to get out and learn something like that, and her son will be a hunter from know on. You are right, we need to keep a positive image to non sportsman and the community. There are many ways to do so. If we put our minds to it we can come up with some very creative ideas. DD -
Obama OH NO!!!!!!!
desertdog replied to desertdog's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Well folks I started this topic on Tuesday watching the election seeing BO would be our next President. I am glad to see this topic has gotten a lot of views and posts. There has been some great discussion and ideas shared, such as going the NRA, SCI, contact your Congress and Senate. But the best idea that has been a common thread on this thread is STICK TOGETHER. As sportsman, hunters and defenders of the second amendment that is the key. We have to reach out, speak out, and be open to new ways of protecting our god given right. Just as all of you I am not ready to sit and watch as our rights are taken from us one by one. Now is the time to encourage others to take notice of what is going on with our rights, persuade as many as we can to join organization's like the NRA, SCI and others to help defend EVERYONES right. It may sound corney but together we can make a difference. We can protect our rights, and quite frankly we have the responsibility to do just that. DD -
Well I am pretty new to this site, and I am sure this has been posted before. However I have not had the opportunity to take part in the discussion and see your answers. So if this is an old topic and or redundant sorry but here it is. Just wondering some of your favorite unit hunt Coues is. Mine will have to be 36C hands down. To me there is just something about the unit. I think it has some of the best Coues country in the three 36 units, and is just a very pretty area. And not to mention some amazing genetics, just one look t the Dan King buck will put that conversation to rest. So lets hear it !!

Obama OH NO!!!!!!!
desertdog replied to desertdog's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
You know AZ4LIFE said people were drinking the BO coolaid, and he could not be more right. I was speeking to one of my frinds yesterday that is a life long hunter. To my dismay he told me he voted for Obama. I asked why, he gave the answer most people do that are not paying attention saying that republicans like McCain have messed things up enoughf and we need change. My first question to him was well what kind of change is BO gonna bring. To that he replyed "oh I dont know just somthing diffrent than we are doing now". Shocked I asked him well what about our gun rights, and to that he answred "well the way I see it he will be so busy with everything else he wont have time to get to our guns". WOW after a reply like that I did not feel I should even waste my breath trying to explain to him that he have a Demacrat controled house and senate and all BO has to do is sign any gun ban they put infront of him. The bottom line is that people just listen to the flashy talk hallow promises that I will make your life better and thay blindly believe it. Like AZ4LIFE said they drink the coolaid. The problem is they dont even know what flavor they are getting!!!!!
