I was out shootin this morning and I though of this question: I never hunt with a clean barrel, and when I am out testing a reload, or practicing I always shoot a couple of shots to "foul" the barrel before my real testing starts. My question is when is the barrel "fouled", and at what shot count does a "overly fouled" barrel start messing with the accuracy of the gun. I understand that some of this depends on the particular rifle etc.. I definately see a difference in the point of impact in the first shot on a clean barrel, but after that I don't see much difference from the second shot on. Today I shot around 20 shots out of the 300 wsm, and the same from the 300 win mag. Out to 7 hundred it held together pretty well. Let me know your thoughts on this Whitey

Scope has been sold. Thanks Whitey

I am selling a Leupold 3-9X40 Gloss vxII riflescope. It is used, but is in good condition. Has light marks where the scope rings mounted it to the rifle. No damage at all to the glass. (It always had flip up caps on it) They are $300 new, I will take $200 picked up. If it needs to be shipped YOU will pay the shipping. I would rather just sell it locally. Thanks Whitey

RR, I know that is the big question. I will probably keep it around for an "all around" gun for my 3 boys. (only 8,8, and 6 now) I could see them using it for yotes, pigs, maybe WT deer. I looked up all the stats in my reloading books, trejectory is very close to the same in the 80 and 95 gr. the 95 retains more energy out to 400-500 but not that much more. It will be a long time before they will make that shot. I might just stay with the 80 gr. I know work well.

I know it is a difficult question to answer without seeing the binos, and their conditon. However, I am currios as to what the resale value would be for a black pair of Doctor 15x60 would be?????? They are several years old, but in good condition. I have a feeling that I will probably keep them as a second pair, but I am wondering what they might sell for. Let me know what you think.... Whitey

I live in the NW Valley if anyone is willing to help me out with this. Thanks in advance Whitey

I think I understand where HUNTEM is coming from. However, I do not fully agree or disagree with him, I think I understand where is opinion starts; JEALOUSY. Now, I am not trying to slam HUNTEM. I do not even know who he is. I would like him to sign his name to his oppinion so I would know who he is, and maybe better understand where he comes from with the oppinion. Here is an annalogy to help others understand the situation. To me HUNTEM is a hard working lionhunter that has spent thousands of hours, and a ton of money building and training a pack of dry ground lion dogs that catch lion year around in any conditions. (Hardworking guy) OK Tyler, who sound like a great guy, was able to go out and purchase some good trained dogs. (Very expensive) It is kind of like the son of a successful business owner who is given Dad's business to run. Instantly he is a successful business owner. The "hardworking guy" always has that feeling of, "If his dad did not give him that business he would not be where he is in life, ie $$$. The hardworking guy is jealous. He works hard to get ahead, and the son of the business owner is handed it. OK, like I said earlier I do not agree with HUNTEM on this matter. If a guy wants to get into lion hunting the very quickest way to do it is to purchase some made dogs. If a guy wants to throw that kind of money at it, then more power to him. It takes years of hard work, countless hours, tons of money, and going threw a bunch of dogs that don't workout before a guy could even consider himself a lionhunter. A guy could go out and buy a pair of Jordan basketball shoes, but that does not make him Michael Jordan. Tyler was able to purchase some good dogs, but the best dogs in the world don't catch lion chained to the dog house in the yard. He is out there pounding the dirt, huntin hard to catch these lion. In my oppinion he his earning every lion he and his dogs tree just as much as the guy who never paid for a dog. There is definitely a sense of accomplishment when you train your own dog from a pup, watch that dog start his own first track, and eventully tree his own first lion. For Tyler it sounds that his time to train his own dogs starts now.. Good luck Tyler, keep sacken up. My 2 cents Whitey Williams

I have a "like new" Leupold 4.5-14X40 scope for sale. It has the Boone & Crockett reticle and is in 9.9 out of 10 condition. I bought it new in October 08, mounted it, used it on my Dec.hunt and that is aout all the action it has seen. I will take $475 for it, or trade for ???????? It is a great scope, but I am selling rifles and changing scopes around.... Any further questions feel free to pm me, or look it up on the Leupold web sight. Thanks, -Whitey-

Need Your Honest Opinions
lionhunter replied to SouthernCouesHunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My input points to the PSE for sure! However, not the bow you are looking at. I have had 7 different bows in the last year and a half. I now have two PSE X-Forces. It is by far the best balance of speed, smooth draw, hold ability, silence, and shock free release. No I do not own stock in PSE. As a matter of fact, as of two years ago I would not be caught dead with one, but the X-Force is just that good. I shot the bow madness the other day and it was a bit of a let down. The draw cycle was not any smoother than the xforce, the bow had some "JUMP" on the release, and it is 30 feet per second slower. PSE X-force for sure! Whitey -
Game hauler, It is the Mod # REP 8000. I don't know if that is new or old, but I do know that the 3 or 4 times I have needed it on lion hunts it has save my @$$. Let me know if interested. Thanks for the look.. ps, I still have the 08 Xforce also. (Won $50 bucks with it tonight!!!) -Whitey_

I hunted lion hard for 22 years, and although we treed a ton over dogs I went for years not seeing any lion without the dogs treeing them. *(Side note: anyone that thinks treeing lion with dogs is the "easy way" is WRONG. At any rate; I had one year when I saw 7 lion in one year without the dogs! I glassed a female with 2 kittens (36-c), glassed a tom (21) had one run off a water hole (6-, one crossed the road in front of me (12-w), and one crossed I- 17 in front of me while going coyote calling. All of those were in the same year. Other than that I had one cross the 87 while I was heading up to bear hunt (Mt. ord), glassed one in 36-c this year while huntin Coues, glassed another in 36-c while hunting, and I am sure that I am forgeting a few. On top of these we have walked up on several trees with lion in them while coon huntin. Of course we pulled the dogs and let the lion go. It is truely amazing how many we have, and where lion are in Arizona. Good Hunting, Whitey
