    Kimber 270 WSM Sold

This rifle is like brand new,. 30 rounds down the tube to season it. (Cleaned after each shot). It is a Kimber 8400 classic in what I think is the best "AZ caliber" 270 WSM. The rifle has the trigger professionally set to 3 pounds, is pillar bed, has a match grade barrel, and trigger. I will include in the sale your choice of 30 mm talley rings, or Leupold 1 inch rings/ bases. It currently has a Vortex 4-16 viper LR with turret, but i don't really want to sell the scope This rifle is the ultimate backpack rig! I will take $850 rifle with the rings/bases (scope not included) Thanks, Whitey

    Kimber 270 WSM Sold

KC, That's it. 30 rounds total ever... I sighted it in with the Vortex scope, and broke in the barrel as I sighted it in; cleaned after every shot. (Pain in the neck but they say it makes them shoot better for the long run) This thing is like new! Let me know if you know anyone looking for a rifle of this caliber... (No pun intended) Whitey

    Sight

+1 on mbg ascent. Best of both worlds. 5 fixed pins if you do not have time to dial the sight, and adjustable to "way too far" if you have time to dial it down.. I can get 140 yards out of my xforce before the fletches hit the sight... ( I would not shoot that far hunting but have won a lot of money in camp with it!! Whitey

German shorthair pointer (quail huntin machine)sold

@ prdatr. She has never been inside the house, but thanks for asking good questions. She handles very well with, or without the ecollar. I am adding the collars because i have no other hunting dogs that might need them. She handles on whistle or voice commands better than most kids! "Yes , she like the other 1,000 dogs I have hunted in the last 22 years handles better with an e collar than without!!" As far as " coming around". Come chech her out. She rides the hip when told to, hunts close when held, hunts wide when i let her ....etc, ect, etc....
  11. Hers the deal boys,(&girls) I purchased this dog about a year ago with the intent of quail hunting a bunch with my boys.... Well, with all our big game hunting and sports we don't have time to bird hunt much.... At any rate i feel that lucy is going to waiste She is not spayed, is AKC reg, and like the add says " a huntin machine" I will take $1,000 for her and throw in a two dog tri-tronics shock coller. Gsp pups go for $300-500 all day long, and training runs about the same/ month, so i think a grand is a way fair deal... If anyone knows of a " birddog" web sight where i could post her that would be great As always all trades for guns or optics are welcomed. Thanks, Whitey

    Bobcat by chance

My good friend Dave, his son Cole, and I ran out for a quick morning archery hunt this weekend. We glassed some super good country for the first hour of daylight. Three coyotes were all that we glassed up. Then my phone rings with Dave saying "I have a cat glassed up laying on a rock about 800 yards out, do you think he will stay there long enough for me to run back the mile or so to my truck?" I told him probably not, but try it any way! At any rate he ran to the truck and back into 225 yards. Dave made a difficult shot on the cat; all he could see was the cats head... Enjoy the pic... Bad morning deer hunting but turned out ok Side not.... Dave is going to make an old school quiver out of the hide Whitey

  17. Let me begin by saying that for years I could not stand that "everyone" started naming elk!! Well now here I am...... At any rate this story started last year when I harvested the "chapstick bull". He was named this because we had bulls going good to the West and East of our camp. We flipped a chapstick in the air to decide which way to hunt that day... Hence the chapstick bull..... My hunting partner Maiocco also harvested a good bull last year on the same hunt.. Which brings us to this year. After hunting for 10 days and calling in and passing on many bulls that were just not what I wanted, and 3 separate encounters with a 380 bull that did not turn out in my favor, we decided to change tactics. Manny (my hunting partner) and I had a conversation.... I said " I am tired of calling in all these bulls that are just short of what I want to shoot". Manny agreed and said, "if it was my hunt I would glass until I found the bull I wanted, and then hunt just him, Might not be as much fun, but a better way to kill a good bull" we agreed and off we went that after noon. Another friend in camp had purchase an apple pie in town that day, and reminded us that it would not be eaten until a good bull was killed. After glassing a hillside for awhile we glassed up two average (300) bulls. Manny said I have a better bull down and to the right.. After looking him over for several minutes I made the call that although he is not the 380 I had been chasing I would be pleased with this bull. At that point I told Manny, " If you can call me that bull I will serve you apple pie tonight myself!!" Manny said, "well then, that's his name; "The apple pie bull". We watched this bull slowly moving to the north 1/2 up a mountain. We ran 2 miles to get ahead of him and hiked up to what we thought would be the correct elevation on the hill. Manny started softly calling to him and he would answer back, but way off. Slowly but surely the bull was coming in. Manny worked his magic, and let me tell you Manny is the best caller I have hunted with!!! (Thanks Manny, don't let it go to your head)... After 45-min to an hour the bull came in bugling and looking for his next girl friend. He stopped quartering toward me at 47 yards. Whack!!! He spun, fell to the ground, got up and ran over another finger running down the Mountain. We found the fletched end of the arrow where he fell. Manny told us to look for blood at the shot, and he was going to walk to the top of the finger and look for blood. After maybe two minutes I hear Manny shouting!!! I sprinted up to him and put glasses on the bull. He was dead less than 4 min. after the shot.... I want to thank Manny for putting in a ton of miles and hard work with us on this hunt two years in a row... Thanks bud..... I know that I will probably not draw another elk tag for years, but it has been a great couple of years...... Now, time to get my kids on some good hunts... Thanks for reading, Whitey

cow elk with. 223 and sheds

I will be the first to say what many are thinking...... I think hunting an elk with a .223 is unethical as heck... I know it can kill an elk, so can a 22 or a blow gun dart if it is perfect........ But....... I would never do it! My kids have a .243 and I am not sure I would let them use it on a cow hunt. Sensationalizing using a tiny bullet to kill an elk.??? Not a good idea Whitey

    two july lions

Well done Dogman; it is never easy this time of year! One of the hunts I was most proud of the dogs happened on the Kaibab in July (back when you could) and it was well over 100, and dry as a bone. Started off a kill and took about 5 hours of hammering around... Again well done, and have a good year.. Whitey
