Danner Pronghorns Good or Bad?!
lionhunter replied to Whitetail Buck Deer's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I have 5 pair of the original Danner pronghorns. (2 uninsulated 1-1000 gr, 2 pairs that my boys use). I think they are great for the money, I had a pair of the new ones and did not love them! I too have a pair of Frontiers that were handed down to me and love them!!! Why do they quit making all the good stuff!!!! -
I think ruger will send them to you for free. I know I called them a few years ago and they sent me some tall base/rings... Worth a try

ML HELP NEEDED PLEASE
lionhunter replied to Flatlander's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
Flatlander, I hope you get it figured out, but if not you are welcome to shoot my gun on your hunt as soon as I am done... I am really thinking about using a bow anyway... keep in touch.. the 150 gr of triple 7 behind 300 gr sst ml sabot works well for me... whitey -
Not wanting to get into an internet argument with someone I don't know, I will simply say "elkaholic, we clearly see this topic very differently !" I have spent my entire summer up there and have photos of every single buck that is worth shooting! Could there be a buck or two that is tucked away in the cedars or on private that I have not found??? Maybe. But of the top seven bucks on my go to list are dead! Confirmed! Am I whining about it?? heck yes!!! Rafter 21 years! ( I prefer the word " bitching) it's cooler!! . I congratulate every archery hunter that has got it done, but to say this happens every year is incorrect! Will I kill a buck? Sure. But am very surprised at what had transpired in the first 7 days of this year! Nuff said. Whitey

No internet rumors here! Last year cattle and carp reported 25% success for archery... 60 hunters= 15 dead archery goats... This year more than that have been killed in the first 6 days! I was on several of them and received pictures from good friends of the others. I am not getting into a pissing match with anyone over this, but I don't post rumors, hearsay, or B.S. I hope I am wrong on this!! I will find out in 3 weeks Whitey

Mje1. "Quality hunt like that" ain't going to happen in there again for a long time! My guess is the amount of tags in 19 a will decrease by half! At least they should! We still have a week of this archery hunt, then 30 fresh archery hunters take a crack at what's left. After that 15 muzzleloader guys are forced to hunt north of 89a only, then ending with with rifle hunters coming in to clean up any bucks with any age or horn length . I would not want this tag for a long time! I would gladly give my tag back for my 21 points!!
-
To my knowledge, not one of the bucks over 80 was killed on perkins! As a matter of fact , most have been killed on public ground or Ranches that allow trespass for free!!! Just sayin.
-
13 bucks killed so far, not all 80 plus of course!!!!!
-
If I see one more 80 inch buck picture from 19 a I am going to eat a 300 grain muzzle loader slug!!!!! I know of 13 killed so far! Most North of 89a. Ps just got a pic of a 84 inch goat from 19 b. that one did not hurt so bad
-
Hunt harder. We need to talk! I was there yesterday and helped a friends wife harvest a good buck, but thinking it was not your number 2???? Pm on the way! If I knew then what I know now I would not have waisted 21 points on my hunt!!!
-
I watched my number 3 choice ml buck goat get killed Sat by a friend of a friend! Glad for him, but kind of hurt:(. Scored 78 2/8

lionhunter replied to 218buck's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer

I have never had any problem with it at all! I have two and will not need it after Sept 5th. Let me know if interested and we can work something out in Sept if you can wAit that long Whitey -
Touché hog hunter. Sorry it did not workout for ya. As far as " putting a kid behind a gun". The choice is always theirs to make in my household. 223, 243. 270 wsm,300 wsm. Etc. they decide the right gun that they feel comfortable with at the range. We discuss KE, bullet drift, drop etc. etc etc. Any rate, you shoot what works for you, a we will continue to stack em up like cord wood.. Whitey
