Are these the newest version? Is it called swarovision? Like the same glass as the el12x50's?

I think what they forgot to factor in was global warming. El Niño moved north to Oregon because of global warming. Next time it comes around it'll be up in Alaska.

Like lark said, the Damascus barrels almost looked "wrapped". They usually aren't a really dark black or blue either, kind of a brownish color on the ones I've seen. I would almost guarantee it doesn't have Damascus battles but double check. If not then I'd just get some mild 2 3/4" #6's like the pheasant loads. Keep your shot to 40 yards and you'll be good.

I thought it was more under the "why did they think of that" category. Kinda cool I guess but I lost a little respect for shockey after watching that penned buffalo. If you're gonna kill something in a pen do it a little justice and pop it between the eyes with a .22 mag.

That dead one woulda been lighter without the guts! I'd say it's bigger then the trail cam pic for sure

I miss these every time -
You bring up some EXELLENT points that I had not thought about. Interesting!!! I know some guys that tried that on improperly posted land in ND (similar rule to az). Ended up that states attorney threw out the hunting on posted property case but went after them for criminal trespass which is a non game violation but a criminal one. Apparently all that you need to get someone for criminal trespass is "notification to not be on someone property". They said that can be a simple as them saying I don't want you on my land or even 1 single no trespassing sign on the entire Big Bo. Dunno if that's the case but that's what they ran into so Id be really really careful on that one.

Most Prized Waterfowl
yotebuster replied to SwampMafia's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Best part about duck hunting is you can do it however you want. I've shot my share of stuff on the water. I've even shot some spoonies! The trips out and the memories you make are the best part doesn't matter whether they're flying, sitting, decoying or jumping. My best memory from this fall (which included some serious corn field mallard hunts where we limited in a matter of minutes) was a flock of about 200 spoonies that cued up in front of three of us at about 8 yards. We were slow so we decided to let them have it as they floated in the wind in front of us. They flared right over us instead of back and away. Three guns dropped 8 drakes out of the flock. Yes they were spoonies but that image will forever be burned in my mind! -
Imagine that. The website is down.....

Definitely a hybrid.

Just beware when getting a stand up blind that they have to put ridiculous tall windows in them to allow to shoot standing or sitting. Not even sure how they are set up but my dad had a stand up cheapo blind once and the windows were standing height only so you couldn't see oht of it while sitting. It totally sucked. I would look for an old double bull T5 on eBay. It'll run you $3-500 but it'll last the rest of your life.

NR were never guaranteed 10%. It's always been up to 10% so technically it's the same as it was just 5% can go to different NR. Not just top bonus point holders. Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct. I misunderstood it.
-
The only downfall from a NR perspective (unless you've been at or very near max) is the 5% that go in the random pass are not guaranteed to go to NR. They can have "up to" 5% of the random draw but are not guaranteed those tags. So it benefits a resident hunter a bit while also benefitting any NR that was several pts shy of max. Kinda hosed the NR with near max though

Saw a bunch of em in the floridas when I hd an ibex tag. Nearly every wash leading up to the base had a herd.
-
Are you going off the regs book odds?
-
Your first choice is actually easier to draw then your second choice so if your name comes up most likely that's what you'll get. You're 3rd 4th and 5th choices won't matter as they won't have leftover tags in them. Looks like you have a 13.8% chance on your first choice with no points. Get your hunters safety if you don't alreay have it and youll double your chances every year. Also come one here a little earlier next year and you'll get a little more feedback before you apply. Likely could have drawn a late bull tag nearly as easy as that tag and there are some cow tags with much better draw odds. Good luck in the draw!

I bought one in a .270 on here with an old weaver for $600-700 a while back. Can't remember who I bought it from. Still haven't shot it. It's in kinda tough shape though. -
Good to know. We caught a 22"er on the snake last fall moose hunting and ate it for camp meat and it wasn't very good. I'm guessing it was just to big. I'll give a small one a try next time I get a chance!
-
All of the Browns I've eaten were kinda nasty. They were also fairly large fish though? I usually release Browns and keep rainbows.
-
I bet those trout are delicious out of that cold water! They really fight on a stubby little ice rod!
-
Wow! Only 14" where I was fishing in ND last weekend! You could just about drive a truck on with 10-12"!
-
Do you guys use an ice auger or just chip through with a bar? How think will the ice get?
-
I actually do have a little 25-20 ammo around the farm somewhere. No brass though that I know of.
-
Adam you're gonna just sit there and grin when you shoot it the first time!!! Cocking it the first few times is scary as heck but you'll get used to it!!
-
This is a smokin deal! I've got about $1400 wrapped up in mine. My sister in law used it for elk once but never got a shot. Waiting to draw a Wyoming elk tag to dust it off!
