According to hunters trailhead you should be in bonus pass if it stays the same as last year. Bonus pass was 10 pts with a 9.2% chance and all apps with 11 drew. This is assuming you are a resident.

How do you differentiate between those and holes in the rock from erosion?

Ruger mini 14 stainless factory side folder 185 series - withdrawn

Any chance you'd mail it up to ND? I would probably take it if we can figure out a way to get it up here. -
I think this is right on the money. The guy screwed up and poached. He killed $32,000 worth of sheep and needs to pay for it. He self reported because he knew that two dead sheep laying in the hills with his bullet in them and a third gut pile with his tag on it would get him in trouble. Imagine if he shot a person in his haste? He would get manslaughfer and be sitting in jail for a long time because he didn't do things right. Crappy deal for a guy that went out without motive. Kind of, but this is why we need to be so careful when in the field, it's serious business! I know I personally have missed opportunities at big critters because I didn't have a clear shot, and I've missed others and not shot again because I was uncertain of whether or not it was the same animal. This guy got to excited and didn't give a crap. He wanted a dead sheep at all costs and he got in trouble for it. Worst case scenario the guy coulda walked over there, looked for blood and relized he missed, and got another sheep a different day. Instead he pushed the envelope and cost the taxpayers a LOT of money and he needs to pay for it. As far as being labeled a poacher and being butt hurt about it, he needs to man up to what he did. He is a poacher. Maybe not premeditated but he let his excitement get in his way and that caused him to make a mistake that made him a poacher. I've been caught not paying attention to the speedometer a few times and had to pay a fine and had my name go on public record as a criminal because I wasn't paying attention. Did I throw a fit? Nope. I paid the fine and was lucky no one got hurt because I owned up to my mistake. In my opinion he's extremely luck he got to keep the first sheep he shot. This sets a bad precedent for the future. Say a guy shoots a 160" ram on the last day and as he's approaching it his 190" buddy stands up that he hadn't seen. He could easily kill the second ram and say it was a mistake that he shot the 160 ram knowing that for $30k he could get out of it.

Looks like he's having fun! Pardon my ignorance, honest question, he can't even call home when he wants to?

I think they'll sell some off of the fact that they have a big following. I see more and more extremely hard core hunters "seeing the light" about vortex but the fact is they have a big big following and big name through social media with occasional users who probably are just fine with middle of the road quality and a good warranty. I would be a lot of guys are going to go out and buy these and assume they have the "top of the line" rangedined. Personally I wouldn't touch any electronic vortex with a 10ft pole.

Looks like an AZ monster to me! The bodies are so much bigger in northern antelope they can be deceiving! I bet that buck is bigger then 80% of the antelope killed in AZ on a given year!

Thanksgiving Crane
yotebuster replied to Little Creek Calls's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I just bought 18 deception decoys this year for using here in ND. Completely changed my crane hunting!! They decoy right in and finish in them. We hunted over them 4 times this fall and shot limits every time. I've tried every other decoy on the market with minimal success. I was prepared to have stuffers made but I'm so glad I didn't! I'll try to put up some pics later. -
Nice scope! But the eyepiece isn't pointed where it's lookin?!? Bump for a good guy and a good price.

Think 5 points is enough for me to get a Kaibab elk tag?!?

Very cool. I've got a model 53 in 25-20 that I inherited from my grandpa. I've always wanted to kill something with it. Javelina will be perfect for it!!

I edited my post. It was nearly 70 lbs with 10 liters of water. If you are interested, I can send you a copy of my gear list for this hunt. Here is a quick summary: - Pack: 4.88 lbs - Shelter and Sleeping Gear: 7.45 lbs - Packed clothing: 2.38 lbs - Optics: 13.77 lbs (10s, 15s, and 85mm Spotter) - Rifle: 12.2 lbs - Other Gear: 3.5 lbs - Water: 22 lbs - Food: 3.5 lbs I did not bring my cook kit since I was conserving as much water as possible. If anyone is interested, I don't mind sharing my comprehensive gear list. It includes weight, cost, nutrition, pie charts, etc. Pie charts?!? When I backpack I always bring pie, but never enough to where I need a chart to keep it organized.

6.5x284 mule deer/coues gun
yotebuster replied to trophymaster's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Sub 4" groups at 1000? You probably should take that field gun to an F class championship and set a few world records there bro..... Not saying your full of it. Just saying that you aren't averaging sub 4" groups at 1000. -
Me too. The most expensive one in AZ!!
-
They sure look cool. Can someone enlighten me on he single bevel vs double theory? Seems like it would be stronger but not as sharp but that's just my little mental picture of something with two bevels vs one cutting something!!!

That's incredible!!

What do you think about having a 3 point minimum for Mule Deer?
yotebuster replied to Gunit's topic in The Campfire
The spike thing has been proven false over and over. Especially in desert muleys that don't rut till January and don't fawn until August. Those yearlings are hardly a year old and are lucky to get any antlers let alone spikes. Spikes have absolutely no bearing on genetics or antler size down the road. My dad and I used to raise eastern whitetais and one of our best bucks (229") was a spike his first year. He was born late (July) and had a tough time catching up to the other animals of his age class that first year. He grew spikes his first year and then blew up after that. -

This is why some people don't deserve to hunt
yotebuster replied to Bobbyhcp's topic in The Campfire
I'm still not getting this. Aren't a lot of the east side of 17 units "any antlered"? Who says she didn't shoot it in 20c and just think it's a coues? No law for ignorance. If she's got a WT tag on it its a different story. I know that's a mistake none of us would make but hunters need to start somewhere. If she was legal then it doesn't matter if she's stupid. I had a hunter bring in a juvenile speckle belly one time when I was cleaning birds for extra money in high school, he thought it was a hen mallard. He was under his limit on both, so nothing illegal, but stupid. Yes. -

yotebuster replied to Bobbyhcp's topic in The Campfire
I understand that is a mistake that shouldn't be made, but isnt it possible that they had an any antlered tag? Not sure which unit it was but if it's a youth hunt I think some of them are any antlered.
