To Rail or Not to Rail, that is the question?
yotebuster replied to Hoss50's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
And don’t get the weaver rings with the screws in both sides. Find the old ones that just hook in on one side and have the nice flat head screws on that side. Less stuff to go wrong. They probably don’t make them in 30 or 34mm so you’ll have to bend them a bit. -
To Rail or Not to Rail, that is the question?

When I’m mounting scopes I usually tighten it down in the rings about halfway, then when adjusting the eye relief and leveling it I twist it back and forth a bunch. This makes nice little Z shaped scratches in the scope finish and crushes the tube a little so it fits nice in the weaver rings. -
Every year there’s a few hits about 3-4 days later from the people who either don’t know how to check or their CC doesn’t allow them to check their pending transactions. I’ve noticed it’s fewer this year and I’m guessing it’s because the cabelas club visa was notorious for this and they’ve been transferred over to capital one which has a super easy and transparent website.

Looking for Input on NM Coues Hunting
yotebuster replied to bigsky2's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I think they made a dec 7-15 hunt this year in NM. For the most part the above is correct, not really a rut hunt and they’ve been pressured but atleast the weather is nice and it works out with you MT schedule. -
$7912.00 hit from NM for me. You’d think that would be good for something wouldn’t you?!?
-
Mowing them should only help.

Limiting applicants to one choice is the best thing a state can do to maintain odds. I wish nevada and New Mexico would change. A majority of applicants (for whatever reason) put the hardest few hunts. In states with multiple choices you can play the table and it brings odds way up in mid and lower tier hunts. If they all did away with multiple choices your odds would go up dramatically

There’s essentially zero chance you drew a rifle bull tag on 3rd choice. That being said, elk die just as dead with a rifle at 30 yards as they do with a bow.
-
Well that’s what point guard is for. You’ll double check next time!!
-
If you had ten points and did a 3c cow tag then you drew it guaranteed on the first round bonus pass. Hopefully you bought point guard.

What hunt did you put for 2nd choice?

When will the hits start? no thread on this yet?
yotebuster replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Elk Hunting
This is not a good thing. If they give the whole weekend without allowing card updates it kinda shoots their whole “no attempt to contact” if a card is bad in the rear. I average about two cards frauded a year, so that’s one every 180 days. Seems like if they go 4 days without charging, with 150,000 applicants, that’s a lot of cards that can have problems with no fault at all to the owner. Not to mention the guys who spend too much on them or don’t make sure their security won’t flag a charge from AZGFD. Those guys I don’t feel bad for. -

It’s 8:30 in ND and I still haven’t gotten a CC hit. I usually find out an hour before you guys. -
I think a swede will out do a creedmoor by about 200fps if loaded to the same pressure. It doesn’t require a man bun to own either. Sweet gun and cool caliber.

His mom must have had 23 points?

Yeah I’m pretty sure you’re logged in or you wouldn’t be posting this. Just go to classifieds and select “new topic”

Good buy! Won’t last long!

From the looks of it the whole A-plus system has been done away with this year. Draw tags are good unit wide on public and private (if you can get permission) and private land tags are OTC a regardless of what ranch you are on. Essentially they are leaving the management of antelope on private land up to the landowners now. The tricky thing will be the public land that is land locked within the large ranches. I’m guessing their private land tags will NOT be valid on that land but it also doesn’t have access for public hunters. Similar to the way private land deer tags have been done in NM for some time.

Bump for a good deal and a cool gun. I’ve got one in a .350 and a 6.5. Ahead of their time for sure!!

I think it’s the new world record for B&C as well. I’m guessing that’s a Montana breaks ram originally

My kinda dad!! My dad got me a brand new model 70 Winchester 7mmSTW for my 12th birthday back in 1995. That was the pre rangefinder days. Hot loaded with 120gr ballistic tips I could aim right at a deer out to 450! Bump for an awesome rifle in a cool caliber!

Factory 28 nosler suggestions
yotebuster replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I’m assuming this guy is looking to only buy once? You’re barking up the right tree with the .28 Nosler, but I guess the last thing I’d ever suggest to someone is to spend less then they could on a do it all rifle. The seekins or a Christensen would be good OTC rifles that will shoot as good as he would need them to for your run of the mill long range shooting and hunting. I would have him buy once and enjoy the gun. The worst thing he could do is buy one and then trade it off later for something better. That gets expensive in a hurry. -
Sweet deal. I’d take it if I wasn’t in ND.
