For giving me crap about assuming stuff you are stepping way out bud. Between my parents, myself and my two brothers we have a combined service in the army and air force of 81 years. I think my family has served enough to have the right to be “hawkish” if we want to. I’m gonna get back to scouting for ducks. You can smack talk my opinions on Trump all you want but don’t you dare disrespect my family’s military service. Don’t claim that wasn’t aimed at me either, being passive aggressive isn’t a characteristic of a man.

It’s not the news dude. It’s literally numbers. Numbers!!! They don’t make them up. Check the house minutes if you want to go straight to the source. It’s fairly obvious that I’m outnumbered here so I’m gonna roll along as I certainly don’t expect to change your guy’s attitudes on trump and he’s the only guy out there that can change mine of him. I’ll be stackin up ducks till Sunday so I’m out on this one. You guys can fire away if it makes you feel better. Watch the republican controlled senate for their response tomorrow or the next day but I’m guessing they’ll agree with me.
-
You guys literally don’t realize that you are the minority on this one do you? The dude is wrong. He shouldn’t have backed out and literally the entire house (including a vast majority of the republicans) and the senate ( working on the same thing as we speak) also don’t agree with him. I can see it’s obviously not ok to think outside the box on this forum, but truly look at this issue and the fact that his party is literally walking away from him right now and let me know how in the heck you think he’s gonna win the next election. My whole point with this is that the guy is literally burning down any chance he has of getting re-elected (any chance WE have of getting another republican in office) (yes I said WE, like it or it I’m in the same party as you guys even though I have different opinions then you do).

I’m trackin. Never made a claim that I had any faith in the media. The fact of the matter is Turkey is invading Syria and 2/3 of the republicans in the house as well as this republican don’t agree with what he’s done. I’m guessing all of us are just closet liberals though?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/policy/defense/466108-house-passes-resolution-rebuking-trump-over-syria-pullout%3famp Looks like 2/3 of the republicans in the house also disagree with Trump on this one. You gonna call them Hillary supporters too Edge? Grow up dude.

We use no till for everything. It takes about 1.5 gallons for the no till drill. 1/4 gallon for a sprayer pass (usually 2) and 1-1.5 for the combine. Throw your trucks in you’ve got 4 or so. The point you missed was that fuel prices = profits for farmers. If you guys were farming dryland winter wheat with fallow in 2006-12 you were selling $9-12 wheat in there. $4 is pretty good the last few years. When your gross production triples your expenses aren’t nearly as important. You used the number $300/day for diesel. If it’s $5 diesel that’s 60 gallons a day. If you’re claiming you’re using far more then that per acre you were getting 10-20 acres done a day?!? Might be why you aren’t managing a farm anymore? It is possible to be a republican and not agree with your president. I’d like to believe there were some democrats who didn’t believe in some of what Obama or Clinton did. I can also disagree with our president and not automatically be a Hillary supporter. That thought, however is obviously out of reach to your mind or you wouldn’t have brought that up.
-
If you think diesel costs have anything to do with farming overhead you don’t know anything about farming. On an average grain farm diesel will account for about 4 gallons an acre if they’re using some tillage. In our area it’s nearly all no till. The average input around here for an acre of corn is $250-300 an acre. So if diesel is $3 a gallon then it’s $12 an acre. If it goes to $5 it’s $20 an acre. Decent dry land corn around here yields 120 bushel per acre. If you have $3 corn and no loss or disasters you net $60/acre. Doesn’t leave much room for error. In 2007 corn hit $7/ bushel. All of the sudden you net $540/acre. Think they give two shits about diesel price? (New paragraph) Another thing you missed out on when you were managing your farm is the fact that commodity prices are now tied to oil prices through ethanol production. Oil goes up. Corn goes up. When corn goes up acres shift in planting so cattle prices, wheat prices etc all follow.

I appreciate your perspective and I think we both have some thoughts in common. My view of the job he’s done particularly with the economy might be from a different angle based on where I’m from. My home town is agriculture and energy based. Our good times tend to run opposite of the rest of the world. From an agriculture perspective we never saw better times then 2006-2012. Most farmers literally became millionaires in a few year span. Trump has made a true depression with Ag and energy markets through the trade war with China. I understand that they are screwed without our oil and ag products and the long term if it’s kept up will balance out, but it’s made it really tough for our local economy. That being said, I don’t disagree with him on that front, with my businesses I’ve insulated myself from the damage that’s caused so it hasn’t affected me personally. I hear that building is off the charts in larger cities and that’s a good thing. I think the 20% corporate tax combined with dirt cheap money right now has facilitated that. As long as we can pay our bills as a country with that I would say I agree with that tax change, but I’m not certain if that’s the case long term. I’d certainly rather see that then a democrat get in and tax the heck out of everybody and give it all to people who don’t work for it, but again like I’ve said and been flamed for, I’m afraid that’s coming. Trade wars have burned a lot of people in swing states like Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Texas etc. All it takes is him losing one of these and he’s lost it. I think the states that will vote blue have only gotten bluer in the last few years and I’m afraid $3 corn and $6 soybeans just might be what causes a few reds to go blue. Again, I’ve been flamed fairly consistently on this thread, I’m just being a realist. I didn’t see what I hoped to see from him as a president, although I’m glad we got him over Hillary, I don’t think we’re gonna be as fortunate the next time around.

You don’t have to keep some creepy screenshot in your phone for over a year. Just use the thread search next fall if he wins and you wanna smear it in my face. I hope you get the chance to! But I’m afraid you won’t.

Thanks for the review!! Love the concept. If they made it in a SFP I’d be all over them!

Love these stories!! Congrats!

I think our party system needs an overhaul. I am considering third party just because it could be an eye opener to both parties if it gained some steam. Obviously I need to see who is in the running for them, but in my eyes I’m not happy with what trump has done with his 3 years, sure as heck not happy with any of the democrat opponents, and feel like there’s really no other way to turn. I truly believe the dems will take it this coming election. Not happy about it, but like I said I’m a realist and I see the writing on the wall. I’m trying to shield my business from the potential outcomes, I’ve stacked up a dozen more goody guns that I’m guessing I won’t be able to buy in the future, and I’m brainstorming anything else I can do and saying a prayer they don’t pick Bernie or someone worse. If trumps parents took his dang twitter account away a few years ago the guy might have had a chance but I don’t think so anymore. I like what he’s done by shaking up the mainstream media as there is obvious bias there, but I think they’re gonna use their power to torch him this coming summer.

Ouch. A closet liberal? Name calling is where I draw the line dude. I have a long history of voting red. I’ve just found too many things wrong with this guy. I hoped he’d win back in 2016 and was glad to see it. I’m horribly disappointed in the president he’s been since then. If Obama had taken away bump stocks and actually made people destroy them it would have been the talk of CWT. Had he allowed Turkey to move into Syria and target Christians right out of the gate he would have been aiding and abetting the Muslim holy war and it would have been all over the place, had he made a statement about individually taking guns away without due process it would have been bounced around all over social media. Trump does it and it’s crickets. I can’t stand anything about the Democrat party and what it’s gonna mean for this country in 2020, but trump isn’t doing anything to make that not inevitable.
-
Red flag much?!? What if your liberal neighbors think you’re crazy? Everyone’s definition is different. Does that make it ok for them to kick your door down and take your guns without due process?

It’s a video dude. Click on it and watch it.

https://www.politico.com/video/2018/02/28/trump-take-the-guns-first-go-through-due-process-second-065189 It only takes a quick google search to find it.

Quiz question: Which American president can be quoted as saying: “Take guns away first, go through due process second”.

Why can’t you just buy some musket caps for it? They make a lot of guns like that for the pacific NW states to be legal.
-
As will this. I’d take him over a Democrat, but I’m a realist and know it’s not happening in 2020.
-
He without question will not win the 2020 election, so he’s essentially forcing the hand of a democrat on us. My only hope is the democrats pick someone a little more moderate as that will be our next president. Mark my words.
-
I’m as much of a republican as the next guy, I just can’t believe the blinders some guys have about Trump. He hasn’t done a single thing he’s promised to do, he’s the only president in history to ever flat out ban a gun part and require it to be destroyed, and yet he seems infallible to a lot of people. I’d love to not have to vote third party this coming year but unless he gets impeached and we get a different candidate to vote for I don’t think a lot of right leaners will have a choice.
-
I never said anything about him send troops out or calling them back. He needs to sanction the shoot out of Turkey. They’re no different then the rest of that part of the world, they just happen to be our buddies because we need them. They’ve been pretty much in our pocket on the mainstream for the last few decades but it seems like they’re fast becoming one more mess to deal with.
-
The few troops we had in Syria certainly weren’t keeping Turkey out. Diplomacy was keeping Turkey out of there.
