If covid created so much of a hardship he couldn’t buy $5 point guard he maybe shoulda just put in for a point. -
Over 50 years of application denial and finally getting to go!
yotebuster replied to rooseiu55's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Wow!! I can only hope to be alive when I’m 80 let alone killing sheep with a bow!! Hats off to him! -
21 points for me now. Thought I had a tag this year but the cut tag numbers in the unit I was after last minute and that made me miss the cut. It’s all or nothing next year I guess!

I think all the mule deer in California are considered Antifa mule deer.

First bear and he's Giant! Added video

I honestly am surprised the guy didn’t kill bigger stuff then he did. He essentially had an all species stack of self prescribed governor tags. If AZ offered a raffle for 365day seasons one of every species in the state and I won it and could do it legally you bet I’d pile up some seriously big sh1t. -
You apply in December for the following year fall hunt or the next years spring hunt. The odds of drawing are about 2%

It’s really good. The only muskox hunting in Alaska for non natives is on nunivak island and is by permit only. The permits are very difficult to get so unfortunately you won’t be able to combo a hunt with anything else.

Sorry. Good point! I also noticed when I was working on gohunt that there are tons of NR who put in for hunts with only one tag. Like 40-50 of the 150 applicants for a lot of tags were NR. I know a lot of people give me crap for analyzing things to death with draws but putting in smart sure helps you improve your odds.

I’ve never been able to figure out why anyone with less then max would put 22 or 24b as one of their choices. I’m glad they do I guess as it’s more for me, but there are literally thousands of people out there every year that do that.
-
I’d be the shoots to have that thing slip off while gutting an elk.
-
Also be aware that gohunt will auto charge your CC the following year when it expires. That kinda pissed me off. Had to call them to get them to put it on annual renewal as the auto renewal is standard I guess.

Gohunt is probably better then hunterstrailhead. More info, faster and easier to use, that being said, it’s $100 a year instead of $25 or whatever it is.

You guys truly don’t believe this do you? Anyone in here ever work in the banking industry? They make their money on you making money and paying your bills. Anyone that’s ever been involved in a lawsuit involving finances knows that the only person who wins financially in them is the lawyers. They have absolutely no reason to go after the guy if he’s paying his bills. They have absolutely no reason to smear his name, they own the dang thing for cripes sake. Why would they want to smear the only capital they have left. Gunwerks is long gone. It’ll likely get absorbed for the name but that’s it. This guy that runs it sounds like he’s so delusional that he doesn’t even understand where he sits. If he truly has “eight figures of assets and almost no debt” then he never would have found himself in this jam. I don’t know him from Adam but I can guarantee you he rolls about like Jeff Lowe from Tiger King, maybe even along the line of Joe Exotic from the way he quotes in the article. What I would say the take home is on this is that “fake news” does exist, but you guys are just believing the wrong one in this case. This company and this dude are in some serious crap and one article from “international sportsman” and some seriously outlandish claims from one clown don’t override that.

The CNC machinery is part of the overhead. I think most people would be surprised to see how much it costs to make those rifles and setups in a facility like that with the marketing costs they have. I would be real surprised if they don’t have $7-8k into those setups. Honestly that’s part of the game though, it’s a $4k rifle that that hype up to sell for $10k. It’s just a marketing strategy, but marketing is expensive. That’s how we all know about them is they pumped a ton of money into making sure we did, so they could sell rifles for $10k. That’s why I was saying in my first post how I always take companies that have major marketing campaigns with a grain of salt, they are expecting that money to make their regular products worth a premium, or their lesser products worth that of a regular product by investing money into the marketing. Problem is, marketing doesn’t do me any good in the field.

Sounds like they need better management, from the look of it they liked the “getting bigger” aspect a lot more then the “being successful” aspect. I’ve always been skittish about their products. They seem to have their marketing down quite well, much like hornady or vortex. My theory on that is if your marketing is that strong something else has to suffer and it’s usually the quality of the product.

Holy crap!! How is this buck not it’s own story!! I’d buy the rifle just because it killed a buck like that!

Nice bow! Good work! Just read an article where a group of milenial hipsters in Fargo ND turned in their boss for unsafe work conditions when he reopened his pizza shop. I’ve been in the restaurant. Nice restaurant but I was really disappointed in the atmosphere of the punks working there. Anyhow it turns out these kids were making 50% more on unemployment then they would have back at work. Made me lose my hope for humanity. This thread made some of it come back!!!

I declined a goulds tag that was surrendered
yotebuster replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
I think that was a good call considering the short notice and how many points you had. If you had 3-4 points I would have said you were a knucklehead. -
I thought this post was gonna be about Lark.

This is the Utah SFW auction currently going on for a lion tag.

We have two 9k units in our shop/house. The finished living area is about 1500 sq feet with an open floor plan and one of the units cools the whole place. We are in ND though so we only hit 100 about once a summer and only are above 90 for about 2 weeks total a year. Amazing how powerful those little splits are though!!! If possible I would put it in the bedroom. That’s where you want it the coolest so you can sleep. I don’t spend any time indoors in the summer except when I’m sleeping I guess!

I was lucky enough to draw a Wyoming bull bison tag last spring. I’ve put in for WY, AZ, and UT for a decade or so and pulled a AZ tag a few years back and was unsuccessful after sitting in a blind for 158 hours. I was really hoping for another chance as I really couldn’t bring myself to shoot a fenced one on a ranch or reservation (I’m 1hr from the Ft peck rez which has bison hunts but they are fenced). The season runs aug 15-dec31 and then they reopen it from jan1-31 if they haven’t had any buffalo migrate down from the park. They shut the hunt down as soon as they start feeding the elk in Jackson Hole which has traditionally been mid jan. I decided to go as late as I thought was comfortable without getting shut out. Turned out it was still early. These hunts used to be easy, the buffalo would show up in nov or dec and they’d be near 100% success. The last 5 years or so the buffalo just don’t come down. The snow was deep when we got there, so much so we needed horses just to get through it at all. The buffalo unfortunately still hadn’t come down. There was a rumor of one bull on the elk refuge, there were about 15 more on the park about 5 miles off and the rest were all way way off in the park and likely won’t be here before they close the season. Well my luck finally turned on wild bison. We picked up tracks in the river bottom first am and caught up to the lone old bull on horseback. I was able to get into about 125 yards. I tucked a 175 swift a frame into his heart with my 7mm STW, then another. He spun around and started heading out. Couldn’t believe it. I put the next two into his low shoulder to break him, which sort of worked. I had time to reload and put two more in the base of his skull before he finally tipped. All shots where lethal. Can’t believe how tough they are!!! We got him gutted and were able to get horses and a sled to him. They’ve got draft horses here to drag them out, I really didn’t think it was possible but they got him drug about a mile to the nearest retrieval road and loaded whole!!! He weighed 958# carcass weight! That puts him at about 1600-1700# on the hoof. Should make Boone and Crockett and we are gonna have a few years of great eating!! Super stoked to have finally ended this quest. We were able to get done early enough to get in a little skiing and are having him butchered and frozen right away so we can haul him home ready to go in the freezer (freezers!). Edit: Sorry about the sideway pics. They all looked the same on my phone.

It’d be kinda hard to cook with a hole in the bottom wouldn’t it?
