I thought this post was gonna be about Lark.

This is the Utah SFW auction currently going on for a lion tag.

We have two 9k units in our shop/house. The finished living area is about 1500 sq feet with an open floor plan and one of the units cools the whole place. We are in ND though so we only hit 100 about once a summer and only are above 90 for about 2 weeks total a year. Amazing how powerful those little splits are though!!! If possible I would put it in the bedroom. That’s where you want it the coolest so you can sleep. I don’t spend any time indoors in the summer except when I’m sleeping I guess!

I was lucky enough to draw a Wyoming bull bison tag last spring. I’ve put in for WY, AZ, and UT for a decade or so and pulled a AZ tag a few years back and was unsuccessful after sitting in a blind for 158 hours. I was really hoping for another chance as I really couldn’t bring myself to shoot a fenced one on a ranch or reservation (I’m 1hr from the Ft peck rez which has bison hunts but they are fenced). The season runs aug 15-dec31 and then they reopen it from jan1-31 if they haven’t had any buffalo migrate down from the park. They shut the hunt down as soon as they start feeding the elk in Jackson Hole which has traditionally been mid jan. I decided to go as late as I thought was comfortable without getting shut out. Turned out it was still early. These hunts used to be easy, the buffalo would show up in nov or dec and they’d be near 100% success. The last 5 years or so the buffalo just don’t come down. The snow was deep when we got there, so much so we needed horses just to get through it at all. The buffalo unfortunately still hadn’t come down. There was a rumor of one bull on the elk refuge, there were about 15 more on the park about 5 miles off and the rest were all way way off in the park and likely won’t be here before they close the season. Well my luck finally turned on wild bison. We picked up tracks in the river bottom first am and caught up to the lone old bull on horseback. I was able to get into about 125 yards. I tucked a 175 swift a frame into his heart with my 7mm STW, then another. He spun around and started heading out. Couldn’t believe it. I put the next two into his low shoulder to break him, which sort of worked. I had time to reload and put two more in the base of his skull before he finally tipped. All shots where lethal. Can’t believe how tough they are!!! We got him gutted and were able to get horses and a sled to him. They’ve got draft horses here to drag them out, I really didn’t think it was possible but they got him drug about a mile to the nearest retrieval road and loaded whole!!! He weighed 958# carcass weight! That puts him at about 1600-1700# on the hoof. Should make Boone and Crockett and we are gonna have a few years of great eating!! Super stoked to have finally ended this quest. We were able to get done early enough to get in a little skiing and are having him butchered and frozen right away so we can haul him home ready to go in the freezer (freezers!). Edit: Sorry about the sideway pics. They all looked the same on my phone.

It’d be kinda hard to cook with a hole in the bottom wouldn’t it?

My wife had been buying these eggs. They are exceptional!!

12 inches? J/k....

Dang. I’d take the stx and the 65 I guess and if the 95 falls through I’ll take that.

I shot my Yellowstone bull this winter with 175g swift a frame out of my 7mm STW. They performed flawlessly. I killed my muskox in September in Alaska with 175 partitions out of the same rifle. Wouldn’t use them again for BIG game. They lost the entire front section and only weighed 110 gr when recovered. I read they are actually designed to do this to shed energy but I don’t like the idea of a 110gr bullet being what I have to drive deep into a bison or Muskox. I’ve had mixed success with accubonds but I know some people like them.

Just as long as there are power lines right!!! -
Interesting you put this up. Every year on April 21 my dad reshares this on FB about a local kid KIA in Vietnam. Just saw he reposted it before I opened this thread.

You know if you owed those f’ers $1200 they’d know who you were and be sure to find you!!
-
Would you trade for .22lr? I would trade you 3:1. I could send you 3300 rds of .22 for them. They are Remington golden bullet 36gr HP in 100 packs. I’d pay my shipping on my end if you pay on yours. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1601314170

Anyone have a Form 4 come back sooner than expected?

I ordered 3 on March 2019 and got the March 2020!!! -
Yeah they’re their own hunt codes. The lady in charge of the hunts emails them out.

Way easier. Last I had checked December tags and November tags are usually available leftover on post.

Alright, I’ll bite. A couple weeks ago you were making $1500 a day. Now you’re making under $75k a year. So is it $300k a year or $75k? Fairly big difference, as a matter of fact if you made the bigger amount it would allow you to buy a tag that would allow you to legally shoot a buck in January with a rifle.....
-
He’ll turn that $1200 into $10k in a couple days in the stock market.

+1 for Clay Goldman. Can’t go wrong with him. You can go wrong with a lot of taxidermists in AZ though so be careful.

Oh boy. I’m absolutely losing my mind!!! April seems like it’s taken 5 months. I literally had it in my head yesterday deer draw was over!! Anyhow, to OP you could easily draw a December or Nov rifle tag if you get put in by June deadline. December coues tags are the holy grail of coues tags in AZ and are easy to draw on post. The take 6-12 years in any other unit. There will be more pressure then on other December hunts but it’s still a good hunt. Killed my first coues in there way back!!

Did you buy the shells yet? If not look into the TSS ammo from Remington or federal. If you ever cut open a Hevi shot brand shell you’ll question spending big money on it. Looks like welding slag swept up off the floor of a shop. TSS is a little more expensive but patters rediculously tight and is 18g/cc vs Hevi shot which they claim is 13 but a lot of independent studies out there show it around 11.5-12 which is actually lighter or equal to lead.

They might still have leftover rifle tags for this coming nov or dec hunt as well. If you only bowhunt that would be on the OTC tag.
