A3 Golden Boy Jed Larson Convicted of Poaching
yotebuster replied to NoBull350's topic in The Campfire
What I’m curious about is if it happened on the Rez why did the Game and Fish have anything to do with it? Seems like it would be more of a rez issue? If a guy followed a bull into NM and killed it the NM game and Fish would prosecute it not AZ? -
Welcome to the site! I’m from ND as well. Spent some time in AZ and ended up back home again. Miss it down there. Where are you from? What elk tag did you draw? Any muzzy tag with 10 pts as a NR is a gift! Enjoy it, as it’ll be a once in a lifetime!!

Oh I’m sure he’ll be fine. 99% of the beef out there is either steers or cull heifers. Obviously the world needs bulls but they usually do their thing until they’re too old and then get turned into McDonald’s burgers.

With any luck it would be from one without nuts!!!

Midway had .22 on major sale last March. I bought 20,000 rounds for some reason, don’t ask me why. A couple weeks later this covid crap hit and it’s been out of stock since!! Might be my 401k!!

Holy crap!! A high country archery buck is a heck of a feat and even more so to pull it off in Utah!!

Wow!! Fantastic deal here!! I like pistol grips and 30” barrels or I’d be on the phone with you right now about this!!! -
Wow!! Great deal!!

I’ve bought a ton of guns off here but it’s always such a pain and the added cost of shipping and FFL makes it hardly worth it. Sounds like you got it sold. Good to hear!
-
Wow!! Stand up offer here!! I’d be all over this if it wasn’t such a hassle to ship them!!! Mike would’ve been all over this thing if he were here today. He might not buy it but he’d be sure to bump it to the top every day or so!!

I have a win 70 in 7mm STW that my dad got me for my birthday when I was 12. Killed a pile of stuff with it. I personally wouldn’t try to make a true LR rifle out of a wood stocked sporter rifle. That gun has always shot sub moa and most places will tell you that makes for a 1000 yard rifle. The problem I’ve had with it is the consistency. It will group 0.6-.75” any given day, but the POI will vary a lot with it with different temps and humidity. I have sunk thousands into this gun trying to make a “classic” long range rifle and I’m convinced it isn’t possible. I’ve killed a pile of critters with it. Hundreds actually. From 7 to 700 yards but I just can’t get it to hold a consistent point of impact. I had a smith guy the stock and pillar and glass it so there isn’t any contact of wood, it’s been rebarreled a time or two as well and has a $2500 scope on top of it and I just can’t get it to do what I can easily do with my proof research 28 nosler any time any place any weather. The reason I put so much into it is the sentimental aspect of it. I’ve killed 11 NA big game species with it and considered trying to take a slam with it someday and may still, but if I have an important tag where I might need to drop something at 750 and not sweat it it’s not the gun I go for.

I’m surprised to see so many suggestions of the SE. Besides dirt cheap cost of living I can’t think of much benefit there. I think a lot of people who grow up out west in public land don’t realize just how awful the private mess East of the Rockies is. We have 6000 acres here in ND in one block which is a giant piece for ag land and it still feels constricting sometimes compared to being out in the mountains. Most people here have access to 200-400 acres at best and ND is way way way better then further east where guys consider a 40 to be a place they can hunt all season on. That would make me sick!! I make multiple trips out west each year to stretch out on the public land and love every second of it. Unless you’re a multi multi millionaire and can buy a big place you won’t be happy East if the Rockies. If I had that kind of money to burn I’d just buy a way bigger ranch in NM that I could get a landowner elk tag every year on!!

Congrats on the tag! Thanks for making the thread!

AZ would be hard to beat. Rural AZ at about 5-6k to be exact! The public land isn’t going anywhere in our lifetimes so you have that to fall on. Cost of living is low and weather is nice. Owning enough land in Midwest or eastern states to hunt on is extremely tough anymore and access issues are snowballing, even in my home state of ND. I wouldn’t live in CO as I can’t stand the liberal govt, Utah has too many people that are too dang into hunting so even if you work hard you can’t get any solitude there. NM is great but private land is the rule there. MT is pretty awesome if you can stand the cold. Particularly eastern and central MT.

Are they on the CWD list for no interstate transfer?!? I hadn’t even thought of that. I’m guessing my dad will euro it as well so I might take you up on that info. What town was he in?
-
Awesome mount!! How’s the meat? My dad drew the same hunt I had a few years back this year. Neighboring unit to yours! Fired up to get back there!!!
-
He spent $25 to get the tag.

Swarovision 12x50’s with outdoorsman stud installed. No box or caps or case. I kept them in a chest case and am keeping that. Optically excellent. Only blemish is the housing was bumped on the edge (see pic). Does not affect the lens or the field of view in any way. Priced accordingly. $1750 shipped. PayPal gift or check that clears before shipping only.

Where are all the scouting pictures of velvet bulls????

The fronts on that last one make me chub up a bit. -
Swarovski 8.5x42 EL’s. Outdoorsmans stud installed. Awesome binos, the 8.5’s don’t get the respect they should. Only reason I’m selling is I got a set of Zeiss RF binos. $1300 shipped. PayPal gift or check cleared before shipping.

Just got them a day ago! Bought them on here. They look great so far. Ergonomics seems so much better then the geovid or swaro range. Ranges are as fast as sig and so is the dope number.

79 is the first two. I think that makes them a 2009 model.

No trades unless you have a pair of 12x NL pures.
