Man I wish I were in state. I think by the time we both paid haz mat to ship it, it wouldn’t be worth it.

I shot this buck with a guide. He had been wounded by another hunter and had a broad head in him when we skinned him. One of the most exciting hunts of my entire life. My brother is in the pic and helped walk me in on him. I’m sitting here drinking coffee and looking at the mount as we speak (I don’t like scotch). Did I earn it? Should I throw the mount in the garbage? I guess I should go ahead and call myself a “wounded trophy deer hunter”.

Ugh. How’d I miss this!! -
It’s too bad your buddy made a bad shot. I’m glad for the deer that Duwaynes client made a good shot.

Framey bulls always score more then I would guess and small frame bulls always disappoint me. The one thing I’ve learned about scoring elk is compare frame size to body and then the body to another elk before I begin to look at tine length etc.

We had some jerky confiscated by the feds coming back from Canada one year. It said goose jerky on the bag (which it was). The USFWS guy tried to say we were over our limit on geese as we had our possession limit with us. Also threatened to write us up because the jerky didn’t have a wing on it. No joke. The USFWS is such a mafia. We quite going up there to bird hunt because of them.

Good point. Missed that part. I always overlook the extra stuff and am shocked when I see the final price.

I can’t speak from experience on a high mileage rig. That seems expensive to me though. I usually get between $18k-21k for mine on trade with 90-100k miles on them. I realize they gotta Mark em up a bit to make money but I woulda thought 130k woulda been in mid teens?

I’ve had a 12,14,17,19 all 3.5 ecoboost and loved all of them. Took them each to 95,000 and traded. Had a few issues with the first one and heard the 11’s were trouble. I would look into the latest model as you can afford. They are unlike any other gas engine on the market. Tons of low end torque. Terrible mileage when working hard but so is everything I guess.

Where do you go in ND? What do you hunt?
-
That’s why you set up an icehouse! Only way to fish in climate controlled comfort!

I know I’ve got some around. Haven’t loaded for mine in over a decade. I’ll look next time I’m at the farm and see what I can find.

Got into some fatties the other day up here in ND.

I’ve got a pound of retumbo I’d love to trade for a pound of RL26 but I’m in ND and I think you’ve gotta go through heck to ship powder don’t you? -
Looks like fun! Being from ND we do a lot of ice fishing, but I’m pretty picky about what days I go. That sounds too cold to me!! I usually try for days that are slightly above freezing as I hate dealing with my lines all froze up and hate fishing in a house. I’ve seen some giant perch come out of cascade. Enjoy the meal!

I’ve got a ruger 77-17 mach2 that I threaded for my suppressor. Love that little thing. It’s blown up many a grouse head in elk camp! Hope you can find one!

Had to Google that. Kinda cool. I’ve got a .356 GNR, this looks even more bad a55

I have all Dewalt, but that’s just because it’s what I got started on and I’m too stubborn to quit. The Milwaukee stuff seems to be what the contractors I know are all moving too. I would say they make better tools but dewalt has a much wider range of gadgets. I had some makita stuff before my dewalt and the batteries all took a crap, about 1 a year for 4 years till they were all gone. Wasn’t impressed. That was the 18v Li ion stuff.

You guys need a Scheels down there. They started in Fargo ND. I worked in the archery shop there through college. Steve Scheel (the owner) was on the floor almost every day. Employee owned. Great customer service. After working there I was horrified to go into a Cabelas or Sportsmans. Scheels puts a ton of education money into even their weekend kids. They’re one of the few brick and mortar retail stores that is growing like crazy. I think they’re in UT, NV and TX now and all over the Midwest. Also they sell their guns and ammo at cost or close to it. I actually had to have my brother buy ammo for me when I worked there as my employee discount was cost + 5% so ammo was more expensive to me as an employee!!

The old NiCad batteries and today’s lithium’s are two completely different subjects. They occasionally fail and yes they’re expensive but so is everything. The amount of power in a good brand name lithium ion drill battery is insane. I mow my office lawn with a dewalt lawn mower now. Love it. No more storing gas and oil in the storage closet of the building.

Yes they still use bar oil just like a gas powered saw.
