    Colorado Preference Point System?

To be completely honest there are no decent units in CO. I would save your money and buy a landowner tag in NM or apply in WY. I have 12 pts or so in CO and absolutely nothing to burn them on. That's my two cents I guess.
  2. I'm not sure what's worse, posting those pics without a story or if you posted the story without pics!!! But in all seriousness, we NEED a story on the lion atleast.

    Will 9pts. do it ?

They upped the tags in 27 this year so he could sneak in with 9. Never know. I would caution him against 27 though. It's an aweful unit with no elk whatsoever

    Rangefinder Opinions

You'll see this posted multiple times after I post it, but Leica, Leica, Leica. That is the only rangefinder that exists in my book, unless you're strictly bowhunting.

    Antler restrictions??

If I'm not mistaken don't all of the Limited Draw units in Utah have spike only hunts as their main hunt? I don't see how the fact that the few LE bull tags not allowing you to fill with a spike has any relation when they shoot a bunch of spikes in the same unit in a spike only hunt. The game and fish decides to manage a population for x number of bulls per 100 cows, if they offer a spike only hunt to keep up hunter interest and manage populations, that seems counter intuitive to what you guys are preaching doesn't it???

    Antler restrictions??

Colorado has a spike law so their cows get bred. Every single branch antlered bull gets shot in a lot of units in Colorado in the oct-nov hunts, and they'd kill every spike too if they were legal. Protecting the spikes assures that the following year will have a crop of raghorns to breed the cows before the whack the heck out of them in the following gun season. AZ is doing incredible managing their elk herds IMO. A lot of guys will argue that they over shoot them in az but my guess is they don't know how good they have it and haven't hunted an aweful elk state before!

WTB A Pistol for the Little Lady

Isn't the sig 238 a single action? Like a mini 1911? That doesn't seem like the best fit for CCW. I got my gf a S&W bodyguard, its a sweet little gun, and priced very well too.

    Nm now has OTC Ibex

Found it... Feb 21st... right after my hunt ends thank god... I'm not clear on whether or not the license is good for two animals or if you can buy two tags, just kinda curious. Gonna be a shoot-out up there.

When does this start? I have the Feb muzzy hunt, hoping it doesn't start that soon...

    Florida Mountains Ibex

Good luck Zac, I'll keep my eyes peeled for him during my muzzy hunt in Feb, but I have a feeling he'll be at your taxidermists long before then.

    Ron completes his deer slam..

Congrats on a beauty of a desert muley! I thought the slam just required a "muley" not a desert, is there a more specific slam that requires a desert muley? If so does it also need a "texas whitetail", carmen mountain, etc??? Just curious, I've killed desert mule deer, regular mule deer, coues and eastern whitetails, I guess I need to start looking into a couple blacktail hunts!

Great shooter buck pic on Tuesday!!

I don't see why that changes anything?!?

    Has anyone seen this yet?

Was that a bear or just a good sized raccoon! I do have to admit it's a bit trashy to put your foot on top of an animal for a picture, I guess I respect the animals I hunt a bit more then that.

    Leica 7x42 Trinovid Binoculars

Yotebuster, The Outdoorsman does have a stud for the Trinovid's. I looked it up and it looks like the curent cost is just under $30.00. If you call them, they can walk you through the quick process of mounting it to the binocular. If you'd like, you can PM me and I'll let you know what adaptor I've been using. Is it an actual stud that goes into the hinge or is it that janky ring mount thing that goes around an ocular? I know my buddy had his EL swaros threaded by outdoorsmans and added a real stud, if that were the case with these, I'd be on them like a fat girl on a brownie pan.

    Squirrels still out

It's was -3 the other day here in ND and they're still running around so I'm sure they're all over above the rim.

    Leica 7x42 Trinovid Binoculars

Is there any way to put an outdoorsmans tripod stud on these? I use my 6.5x vortex a lot when I have me tripod set up, woldn't mind upgrading, but need something that I can put a stud on. Any thoughts?
  24. It could use musket caps as well, but mostly likely #11 caps are what it needs. +1 on staying away from black powder, it's corrosive, unlike pyrodex. I would use .490 round balls and pre lubed patches, you'll need a bullet starter to get them down as they start way harder then the new guns do. Use BOILING soapy water to clean it, take the nipple off, and stick the barrel in the boiling water and use a moist patch to draw the water up into the barrel like a syringe and push it in and out. The reason it needs to be BOILING and not just hot is that it will evaporate off when you get done and not rust. I run a little film of bore butter down the barrel before I store it. Always shoot a cap through it before loading as well. Don't try to shoot bullets out of it, it most likely has a 1 in 48 twist and will only stabilize round balls, also a roundball is more then sufficient for a pig.
