What do you mean by self guided? They supply the boat, bait, tackle, etc. They show you how to use the electronics, GPS and depth finder. They will show you how to rig your baits for salmon, halibut , rock fish etc. and it's up to you to go catch them. It does help to have some experience with boat handling but its not hard to learn. Basically you're by yourself with family and or friends and you determine what and how you fish everyday. Last year my wife and I fished 5 days and brought home 250 lbs of filleted salmon, rock bass, and halibut. There are radios on the boat so you are in contact with the lodge at all times, and they will make sure you catch fish. Self guided the limit is 2 halibut per day where guided is 1 , being self guided they have to be careful with the Alaska game and fish laws concerning helping the anglers.Like I said this is my second year and can't wait to get back up there. They are in Elfin Cove, beautiful area with probably the best halibut fishing in any of the Alaskan waters. Cool, didn't know they did that?!? I can run a boat just fine, how far out do you go? Is it more reasonable priced?

This is getting interesting.....

I guess I assumed you got the Sept hunt, if you got the Nov hunt its a little different story. Still a good tag, but it will be a lot tougher hunt.

Any firearm tag in AZ during the rut is an awesome (I would almost say once in a lifetime) tag. A 3B bull tag is no exception.

?????? Because????? From what I've seen deer that are healthier shed velvet the soonest, thus ranched deer would shed even sooner then a wild deer, any deer still carrying velvet in Feb obviously has something wrong with it, an injury etc, be it on a ranch or not..... Back to the real topic, holy smokes!!! Amazing buck!!

Is this a piston gun?

Welcome to the site, PM me if you have any questions on hunting Ft. Huachuca, there's some decent opportunities on post that you may want to take advantage of. I've killed a couple deer off there. Also thanks for your service!

If not that must be a pretty expensive muzzlebreak :/

I've got a cpl in 22 mag! Sweet rifles!

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you drew a archery bull tag unless your rifle cow tag was limited opportunity +1 I've heard a lot of 4th and 5th choice conspiracies where guys claim to draw early rifle tags on 4th choice etc, but I don't believe them, if the tag was undersubscribed last year, then I wouldn't put it as a 4th or 5th choice unless you wanna burn your points, other then that, if theres applicants that put it as 1st or 2nd and all the tags get burned up, you WILL NOT draw on your 3rd 4th or 5th choice.

I think I paid $800 for it, the stove is a barrel type with a hot water heater and warming tray, I paid another $400 for that, and I have a little kitchen set up (the cabelas deluxe camp kitchen) that goes in it that I'd throw in too I guess. I guess I'd like to get $950 for the set up, I bought a camper shortly after I got this, and like I said I used it for one archery hunt a two years back and it's sat other then that. I put a small slit in the fabric on purpose for the drain hose on the little kitchen sink that I have for it, that way you can wash dishes and run it out the sink out of the tent, thats the only flaw that I know of on it, there may be a small spark spot or two on top as I had the stove goin all week when I was using it.
-
I've got a 12x20 that I'd consider selling, I have a stove with it as well, only used on one archery elk hunt in AZ. Only problem is I'm in ND now and the tent is up here. I'm sure it could be shipped but I suppose it'd add a lot of cost.

The binos are great, a little heavier then the vortexs they replaced but much nicer. I'm no sure how I'm pulling that kinda speed out of my STW with 150's but I've chrono'd it several different times and it sets right in there at 3450 with an ES of about 30fps. Really happy with it, it's killed about 50 deer, a few elk, a moose and a couple oryx with the scirrocos.
-
I run the 150's out of my 7mm STW at 3450. Nothing but good luck for me.

You can hunt the state land they lease. They control access to the private land they lease. If you can get access via a county maintained road to any state or federal land they lease grazing rights to, you have full access to hunt it. If its landlocked by private land with no access, then you don't, unless you have a helicopter. There's no law saying they have to provide you with a means of accessing public land across their private land. Often ranchers are nice Enough to allow this, sometimes they aren't.
-
You are wrong. They pay for the grazing land as rent. Then they can write off on they're taxes against they're income the same as any business owner would. Not exactly my idea of "huge tax breaks" and certainly not something that you can "hold in ransom".

I don't think he's that far off, I don't see why he would have to give it away just to advertise on this site. I just sold an AK-47 last weekend for a grand, it's a piece of stamped crappy Russian metal, but that's what they're worth, I'd say that a Mini is worth what he's asking. If you don't want it, don't buy it!

To be completely honest there are no decent units in CO. I would save your money and buy a landowner tag in NM or apply in WY. I have 12 pts or so in CO and absolutely nothing to burn them on. That's my two cents I guess.

Mule deer, 2 pigs, and a lion all in 2 weeks with stick and string
yotebuster replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Other Big Game
I'm not sure what's worse, posting those pics without a story or if you posted the story without pics!!! But in all seriousness, we NEED a story on the lion atleast. -
They upped the tags in 27 this year so he could sneak in with 9. Never know. I would caution him against 27 though. It's an aweful unit with no elk whatsoever

You'll see this posted multiple times after I post it, but Leica, Leica, Leica. That is the only rangefinder that exists in my book, unless you're strictly bowhunting.
