Nice goat Bob! I've got one short of max points. Forgot one year. That was a big mistake. My brother drew with max points in one of the red desert units last year and killed an 84"er. I'm 10 years out on that unit since I'm one short

Guess that was worth the wait! Congrats on a smoker of a bull!

I don't have pan adapter and love mine. Pan adapter doesn't allow you to lock them on an animal that you don't want to loose in heavy cover.

This is funny. Unit 1 is not managed for a trophy unit. Its a product of the fire. 300 archery bull tags and a cow hunt going on the same time. Its a joke. Sure there are some giants but gnf shouldn't take credit for managing it that way. Maybe we should thank the USFS for torching the unit. Just give it a few more years. It'll be what 3a 3c now is. Because they managed it for trophy bulls about 10 yrs ago too. Please read the link. Those units are managed under the alternative management system. Meaning 30-40 bulls per 100 cows. All other units 20-30 bulls per 100 cows. Genetics are good in AZ. They manage for what they deem a healthy population. Thankfully genetics are good and there are good bulls. Those of you complaining should hunt colorado, Montana or Idaho once. To the guy complaining about the biggest bull they killed in 22 being a 338 bull, most hunters in those states have never seen a 338 bull in their entire lives, and most have never seen a 6 pt. AZ has the best elk hunting in the US hands down (yes NV has big bulls but isn't really in the same boat with less then 1000 bulls killed annually). You have it good in AZ. REALLY good.

Wyoming bird hunting?
yotebuster replied to Big Browns's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Sorry I can't help you more Adam as I have no first hand knowledge of this area. What I can tell you from years of living and hunting in the Dakota's and eastern Montana and Wyoming is that if there is any decent grass cover bordering crops of any kind, you will likely have pheasants, Hungarian partridge, and sharptail grouse. The issue is most of the cropland will be private ground. I would pack a shotgun and some shells and just see how it pans out, my guess is that you will run into plenty of birds in your scouting and will kill some if you're opportunistic about it. If you flush a covey and they fly over a rise, grab your gun and a pocket full of shells and go after them, no guide or dogs needed! -
As far as I know coues bucks don't have babies? It might affect the trophy potential, but the population will remain stable as long as they don't kill does.

Wow! Not to many bulls like that one in MT! -
Sometimes these posts have a happy ending but this looks like it's going south fast. Hope you can find the rightful shooter and get them back their bull.

Blue Grouse Hunting?'s
yotebuster replied to Couzer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I would use 6's or 7 1/2's. the name of the game with uplan birds is putting a pellet in the head. Either of these two pellets will penetrate a grouse head at 30-40 yds and the capacity of a 410 is severely limited. I'd be surprised if there's more the 50 # 4's in a 410 she'll. you'll double pellet count by going down to 6's. post pics when you get them! They're amazing eating too! -
Nice bull! Where did you end up hitting him? I always like to know where those animals that plug up or don't bleed are hit to try and learn something from them.

Hawk attacking my chickens

I may or may not know of a way of placing a leghorns trap with extremely sharp jaws on top of a wood post near the chickens. -
FINALLY UPDATED WITH PICS!! Anybody near Mesa airport want to make a quick reward?
yotebuster replied to yotebuster's topic in The Campfire
My dad almost started crying on the phone last night when I told him Adam got his cape! I considered not telling him and then surprising him with the finished mount for his birthday down the road, but he said he's glad I didn't wait as he might've died of anxiety slit his wrists before his next bday! He was so excited, it made the hunt all that much sweeter. So long story is he showed up with the frozen cape in a garbage bag wrapped in towels in his checked baggage. They called him back through security and to the front desk to tell him that wouldn't work (never gave a reason) so then he took a cab to Walmart from airport, bought a cooler and packing tape and repackaged it in cooler, paid for another bag, and resubmitted it. They made him wait to make sure TSA would take it. Again they said they would let him put it on the plane (again no reason). They said they were going to confiscate it. I guess if it had been me in the situation I would've skipped my flight and got another but I think he was so frustrated with the deal he just gave up. Last I heard was a text saying the above. Before he even landed, Big Browns was down there and had them sweet talked into giving it back! He has it safe and sound in his freezer. He didn't do it for reward money, in fact he sent me a text saying he didn't want any. He did it because he a heck of a good dude. It really blows my mind how many guys like that there are on this site. I also need to give a shout out to Flatlander as he texted me about 5 minutes later to tell me he would be willing to run down there as well! Sorry I will get pics up when I get them but the only one I have is a crappy cell pic. My family has 3 more bull tags coming up over the next couple weeks I'll put up a big post about all of them when we get back! Thanks again to Big Browns, Flatlander, and the whole CWT family!! -

Good to hear. #6's or 7 1/2's will kill pheasants all day long for ya. Especially in a sub guage guns. The key is to put a pellet in nerve tissue on a pheasant, a #6 pellet will penetrate a pheasants head at 70 yards, so there's no need to go bigger, the key is getting as many pellets flying at em as you can! Good luck on the hunt, my dad uses 5's for everything and swears by them, I shoot heavy 7 1/2's here in ND most of the fall and switch to high brass 6's in December when they really smart.

Now you've got me curious as to what you're gonna do with it? Sorry I don't have any and I'm totally hijacking your thread but I've gotten an itch to buy the new beretta auto 28 and this caught my eye!!

Or you're just bad at scoring antelope. Doesn't look much bigger then 80-82 to me. It's tall but that only gets you a few inches. It doesn't lack mass but its not exceptional, about what you'd expect on a book buck. The prongs hurt it as far as being a monster score wise. Add a couple inches to each prong and you've got yourself a monster. I wouldn't be passing it up regardless. Nice buck, good picture. Well well well. I do believe the intent is to make the buck look bigger and I said they were good at accomplishing that. It is a big buck, the pic makes it look bigger. My apologies Azkiller, I mistook your post a bit. It's an incredible antelope!!!
