I heard that if you try checking your results early it bumps your tag back to the next guy in line. I heard this from a credible source. Brian Williams.

I have a subscription to hunters trailhead and plugged in your hunt. According to last years draw odds you made the bonus pass with your 3pts but only had a 47% chance of getting drawn in the bonus pass. You still should have had a good chance in the random draw as well, but there is a decent chance you may not have gotten drawn. Hope I'm wrong but it definitely wasn't a guaranteed tag.

You realize a 25-06 and a 270 are the same thing don't you? If anything a 25-06 will kick less due to lighter bullet selection. A 25-06 with a 110 accubond would kill any elk in the world if you shoot him through the lungs at 400 yards or less.

I agree. I'd like to see a poll of people who "actually knew" when their card was hit vs what choice they drew, (bonus pass or random etc) vs when their charge hit. I hear so many "I was charged a week laters" that I know weren't actually a week later just pending charges being brought to final charges after a few days or a week. I have my card on a text notification and it is truly instant every time I charge something to it so I know down to the second of when it went through. Last year it hit a few hours after the people starting getting charges but it was probably 3-4pm when it hit. I drew a second choice random draw tag as a NR.

Anyone have any luck? I put in for a tag that should've been guaranteed with -1 max points. Turns out this year a bunch of guys with max decided to put in and it took me out of what I thought was a sure deal with one less then max. Coulda drawn if years prior and been building points in the meantime! Just goes to show that sitting on points isn't always the best idea!!

I'm gonna be down in AZ this coming week for a conference. I was kinda thinking about trying to head up around willow springs or woods canyon and doing a little hiking in some of my old elk hunting spots. Are any of the roads open yet or are the gates still shut? How about snow cover, pretty much non existant im guessig?

I think what everyone is trying to say is that it is impossible. And not like "man that's impossible" but like "newtons laws say that that is impossible". If I had to wager a guess your sight in height of 2" high at 100 maybe got bumped off to a foot or two high without you knowig and that put it a few inches low at 500? Or second idea, maybe when holding on his backline at 500 you flinched and sent the bullet a couple feet higher then planned and dropped it right in there. Either way its a dead goat and a nice shot. As my grandpa always said, "better to be lucky then good".

Nice looking bucks from what I can see in the side shots. The forward angled pics are really tough to tell what's what. It makes little bucks look medium and big bucks look medium too!
