We have many great memories together.Just like im sure you and your son do. I'm glad you got to meet him he was very excited about tagging his first bear just like I was.
-
. As I sit here posting these pictures I can't believe what has actually happend. My dad and I set a goal of getting our first bears and we both did it on the same day! After hunting hard for 5 days. We doubled on Bears! After not seeing anything for 2 days of long hikes and hard glassing. We made a big 3 hour move to another location and it paid off big time. After moving we glassed up 7 bears in 2 days! We saw more bears in those 2 days then my dad and I have in our whole lives. It was an adventure that I will never forget!

More water and a different food source. The concentration of bears we found were still hitting the prickly pear. We were to high in elevation I guess. Or we just got lucky:)

I'm in your boat my dad is also my only consistent hunting partner also. Cherish the moments with your dad! Good luck hope you guys can get it done.

Slc 15s. I had Swarovski 15s sold them and bought the kaibabs then sold the kaibabs and went back to the Swarovski 15s. Buy the best you can afford and never look back.

Awesome desert buck!!! I am a desert mule deer freak and love to see a good desert buck on the ground. Congratulations on an awesome desert buck and in velvet. Usually the big desert bucks hit the dirt in the rut, rarely do you see big desert velvet muleys.

Sound to stop mulies in their tracks?
desertbowhunter replied to rschaumb's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I always stop muleys by just grunting with my mouth if they don't stop I grunt louder it has never failed me. But that's during the rut don't know about bucks in velvet. I have killed 4 muleys with a bow like this. -
I h . I have a savage model 111 in 7mm re mag

Cool so should I pillar bed it or glass bed it? Boyd's has a galas bedding kit for 30 bucks. Or do I just get the stock to fit and I'm good to go?
-
Also look up muscle brakes. I have a 7 mag and I'm planing to put a muscle brake on it.
-
I have killed in January since 2006 so I feel your pain. But I also have killed some nice bucks and is one of my favorite hunts of the year.

Rangefinder - Leica or Swarovski 1600 yd
desertbowhunter replied to dtower's topic in Optics and tripods
I have the Swarovski range finder I love it! The optics are crisp and clear and are great in low light conditions. My only complaint is its a bit bulky and heavy. If I was gonna buy one now I think I would probably go with the Leica.
