Pictures and such are great and give a good idea of what is in that building but it is almost pointless to try to do it justice. It is mind boggling just how impressive that collection is with all the giant and unique sheds and heads. Glad I went.

I can remember that storm, there was probably closer to two feet in Alpine and Hannagan. There were plenty of abandoned RV's on the forest. It was also a pretty dry spring because fire restrictions were posted the day prior to the storm and removed the day after, pretty funny.

should do the trick good luck on your hunt.

I've got one. I know the guy who makes them here in Round Valley. Not sure what you are looking for but it seems to be a pretty decent pack. It has held up well so far ( 3 yrs), Only issue I've had is with a zipper on the double barrel attachment for my spotting scope but I've had zipper issues with about every pack I've ever owned. I'm tough on equipment. Hope this helps.

Astro-turf or some other sort of outdoor, lightweight carpet works great. Cut it just wide enough to lay between two cots and the length of the tent. You can just role it up with your tent and you're good to go.

I've been out and about quite a bit and seen lots of turkey and lots of activity. They seem to be getting after it. Hint, (not low).

A couple days worth of sheds I missed last year and some new stuff. Enjoy.

FYI, mine was reported promptly, before I even got home in fact, and have arranged to meet w/ the officer. I have had much more civil encouters with Game and fish by making an honest attempt to stay legal.

I love the character and mass on that head! Sweet.

Nice work! I like the second pic.

I guess it really depends where you are. I haven't seen a bull over 300 packin for two weeks now. Seen quite a few too.

I think the average is around $10 per pound If you're getting $10 per pound I want to meet your buyer! I haven't seen prices like that for many, many years. The guys up this way have been giving $6 bucks a pound (unbroken browns) pretty steadily for a few yrs now.

I sent you a pm with an offer of $75 quite a while back guess you didn't get it.

There is gonna be about 40, yes 40, cow hunts in unit one this year.

Is it just me or are there big muleys coming out of all directions this year? Seems like last year was the year for giant coues and this year muleys are taking front stage. I don't know could just be me.

Coach, I agree with the fact in many units seem to have way to many tags. I've raised some questions to a couple of the local G&F guys and they say that their hands are basically tied due to some of the generalized quotas and percetages set by the "higher ups" in the G&F. Hopefully in the future they will be able to find a way to manage deer as deamed necessary but who knows. I have noticed certain deer hunts make you feel like you are somewhere back east ready to duck bullets. On a side note I do think that there are a lot more serious predators glassing the hills these days. Makes me almost scared to poop out there.

Huge congrats Al, that was the coolest deer hunt I have been a part of. That buck couldn't belong to better more deserving guy. I had fun and i'm looking forward to next year.

I would have to say that gear is good only if it is a drastic upgrade to what your guide has. Alot of guides I know, including myself do so for the extra income. (Not accounting for the love and fun of it of course.) I say cash is best most often and I have to agree that tipping what you can afford is good. Don't get caught too much on the final outcome of the hunt, (successful or unsuccessful), because a guide may work his tail off and things don't go as planned. That's just hunting no matter how good you are.

There's alot you can do with a 4 1/2 in grinder, a welder, and some junk metal boxes you find laying around. Like old electrical boxes ect... I'm working on a few security boxes for myself.

One more catagory suggestion. Woman's catagory? I haven't ever heard of that plus my wife has a tag. Just a thought

Keep up that motivation. Once you get into them it gets into your blood and you'll end up giving others advice in a few years. Trust me. Just keep surching that rim county. '
