    little advice needed

My advice to you is do not move the blind. Wait for him, he will show up. By now he probably notice the blind and let him (or maybe he already is) get used to it. How many more water tanks are in the area and how close to this one? If there are several tanks and they are in full rut my personal belief will be to GLASS and then glass some more on the hills nearby, you'll find him. But if the bucks are not rutting yet or if they are in the pre-rut keep your self in that blind. He will show up or will push his does to that water tank. Good luck and please keep us posted, if you have pictures and if you dont mind we'll love to see them; and of course we will be waiting for your story....thanks and take care. Ernesto C

    It has been bugging me…

Man this is another big reason why I love this site and its people on it! If you give me a race car that doesn't mean I will win the race. If you give me a pair a boxing gloves that doesn't mean I will be the champion on the fight! If you give me a pair running shoes that doesn't mean I will win the marathon. It takes preparacion, it takes education, it takes practice and then more education more preparation and then practice and more practice to see what are you capable to do. If you can do something that doesn't mean I can do it too or viceversa, it takes what I just said before it takes experience and a lot more. If the ones that know do not teach that ones that don't know ....where are we going? Where hunting is going to end up? I don't agree with "if it is legal is ethical". - Can I shoot a big game animal in the stomach in purpose? Is not illegal but it is ethical? Ernesto C

    It has been bugging me…

I agree with you CnS. A good, a true hunter always check, looks and makes sure if the shot was a hit or not, ALWAYS! I do not agree on borrowing a bow or rifle for the hunt. A true hunter must know his gun but...like Tony said.....is not illegal and unfortunally...not all the hunters are created equal. Ernesto C

Question for all 257 WBY MAG.

Allen got me thinking with his coments about a mule deer hunter that had to shoot at his mule deer buck 4 times in order to take it. He mentioned about the bullet lack of penetration at 500 yards. A 257 WBY MAG at 500 yards has 1419 Energy ft. pounds. Which it looks to my enoug energy to take a mule deer. I personally wont hesitate to take a shot like that at a mule deer. On the mentioned scenario we do not know angle of shot, shot placement, bullet grain, and rifles barrel lenght but .....who in here owns a 257 WBY MAG that can tell us their experience with this caliber? Or even if you do not own a 257, what's your opinion?? Ernesto C

Question for all 257 WBY MAG.

Shot placement is the key......hit a deer with a .30 cal on the belly/stomach and good look finding him. They can cover miles quicker than us. Ernesto C

    The Land Of Giants....

Thanks for the update Jim and I'm glad you came back home safely. If I were you I wont let that mule deer go, that's a trophy in my book I do have one question.....did you end up shooting the lion? Will be waiting for the pictures, thanks. Ernesto C

    1 fox 1 dog

Congratulations on the predators, good job! I agree with you about Josh. Josh is all that and even more. I'm blessed to know Josh and have hunted on "predator heaven" with him (where coyots come by 4 or 5 and/or coyots and bobcats at the same time). Again congratulations and I will ask this for the 2nd time...When we will be able to see those videos?? Ernesto C
