very nice buck. would also like to know what he scored -
i drew a left over tag in that unit a few years back and selected to hunt the mule mountains. If u decide to hunt there the best advice i can give you is getup early and pack in as far as you can go to get away from the rest of the hunters. Theres not much road access so most hunters choose to hunt the first few hills, so the farther back the better.

Sorry this one is a little late. I introduced my girlfriend to the outdoors and hunting 2 years ago. Her first was a pig tag which was unsuccessfull but that didnt matter she was hooked, so the following year i decided to put her in for a deer tag and she drew a 36b second hunt coues tag. The third day of the hunt we glassed up a fork a little over 600 yards away, I wasnt comfortable with her making that shot, so we put a stalk on to get closer, glassing along the way. As we made our way up to the buck i glassed up another buck bedded under a tree staring right at us, he had us pegged but wasnt really concerned with what we were doing. We then set up her shooting stick and she layed the hammer down on the buck at 210 yards with her 223ssm. I was more excited than when i shot my first deer. It was an awesome exerience and she even gutted it herself.

i have both and the short mag is by far a better gun faster bullet and flatter. I use a 150 grain bullet for elk and deer. when it comes to the ultra mag, some of there facotry loads are better because they have three different power levels but if you reload u can put the 300 ultra mag to shame.

just wondering if anyone has hunted the magee ranch in the sierrita mountains. and do u have any other suggestions for coues in 36A

i drew a left over late november tag. i know someone who lives on the ranch so access isnt a problem, i was just wondering about deer population and where to hunt up there. So far ive been out there once and saw alot of doe just cruising around on the ranger checking the area out, but have yet to do some serious scouting. just curious to here other opinions on where to hunt that unit because i usually hunt 36b.
