Anyone know if there's a list of leftovers yet? I couldn't find it on the G&F website or is it on the phones?
-
Got mine there today too. $3.49 for like 45 feet. The stix are just like new now.
-
Anyone know how to rebuild steady stix? Or know where to get the elastic cord? I may try Michaels or a craft store for the cord. I'm not sure what's holding the cord in at the top part. At the bottom they are tied to the points which I have out already. Thanks in advance!

My boss will not give me Friday off but may be up for a weekend glassing but would rather help in 22 I'll swing by and show you my cow on my way home. People actually hunt in 22? I hope she has big utters and is a trophy Cow, Meaning one you can drive to Knowing my luck this will be the one I can't drive to. Every elk before we have been able to drive to. I think you just jinxed me and on the eve of Friday the 13th. If she utters something I'll have to stick another arrow in her, but if she has big udders you'll be the 1st one I show. I have the wifes Sequoia so she might be mad if an elk rides in it. Especially a female elk. Azryan you little runt, what's more important ? Going to Vegas or helping your nice uncle on an elk hunt?

I'll be going right thru your town at 4:00 A.m. You up for some glassing?

All that hard work paid off. Congrats on a great buck. Sounds like you ate good too.

Not to get off topic too much. Say my wife doesn't get her unit 8 bull by Sunday the 29th. Can she donate it since there will be 4 days left on the hunt? She is going out of town and can only hunt the 1st 3 days.

I'll be in 23 tomorrow looking for that 1 dumb cow. Good luck to everyone.

Ryan you dodo bird, that was Thursday Oct. 29th we saw him. Anyway, cool looking Jeep.

I'm taking my girls scouting for Mom's elk in unit 8 on Wednesday. Mom's out of town and can't get out to scout. (like she would anyway)

Great job, great buck! Very nice looking buck.

The short mags were made because they would, could and can outperform the .270 winchester and the 7mm Rem. mag. etc. I think it's actually more money for more performance. I'm no expert either though. Cost of factory ammo is outrageous. The short mags are not wildcat rounds. They are offered by most gunmakers now and ammo is readily available, but expensive. My next gun will be the Browning lefthand Short-trac in .270 WSM.
-
I'd get the .270 WSM. My next gun will be chambered for it. I don't think that there is a lot of difference other than bullet weight is heavier in the 7MM. Since you have the .300 Wby. already I'd say go for the .270 WSM.

I think about all the animals my family has taken over the years. None has ever been taken over water, salt, bait etc. We just like to "hunt" and like the way we do it. I'm not knocking anybody else about the way they do it. We just like to get out and see what we can find on our own.

Keep after him. Good luck!

Great bucks and great story! Way to go.
-
Looks like you had a blast! That's a nice buck. Hope you have enough freezer space for all the stuff you've been getting........
-
Congrats to your Dad! That's a nice one.
-
Nice job Josh! That's a nice one for sure. You getting him mounted?

Ok, here's the story. We got up at 2 A.M. to get to our spot by sunrise. It was as cold as 16 degrees this morning where we were at. We stopped to glass a hill and saw nothing but moo cows. We had a raghorn bull elk run out in front of us. We then stopped at the south side of the hill to glass. Right away Ryan found a deer. It was a small 3x3. I ranged him at 375 up on the hill. I told Ryan I would shoot it if I could get closer. I moved up another 70 yards and set up the stix. I watched him for a bit and saw another buck come out behind him. When I was sure a 120 inch monster was nowhere around I took aim and held right on his back. My rest was rock solid and he went right down at the shot at 304 yards. ( note to self, always aim a tad lower on extreme uphill shot ). As we were walking to where we thought he was we didn't notice that he had slid down the hill 60 yards closer to us. The shot had broke his back and I had to put another round in him. I made Ryan drag it back to the FJ for me since he is a lot younger than me. We skinned it and quartered it in a tree and used the gutless method. It makes the job a lot less messy. Here is a picture of the deer before the shot. As he lay. And here is me with the buck. Thanks to Ryan for helping Lukeduke and me on our hunts.

Yeah, it actually snowed

So what do the deer do on a blustery day like this? Are they more active or bedded more? I'm going out for the last day tomorrow hoping they will be out and about. -
Great job! Very nice buck.

Great shot! How long did it take you to reach the deer?
