LukeDuke and I went to our normal spot by Tonto Basin for quail today. Very few birds and flushing at the slightest noise. Managed to get 2 with 1 shot and then 2 hours later shot 1 more. I think the road hunters shooting out of their Polaris Rangers got more birds than me... LukeDuke found a small 3 pt. Coues shed in the bottom of a wash. Still a great day to be out.

Hey that was me. Were you the guy that came up behind me? I thought you were in a hurry so I tried to get out of your way. Otherwise I would have talked to you. Were you dove hunting? We may be back out Monday.

We found a whitewing hotspot this year. It was nice not having to stop at 6. Ended up 11 for 34 with the 28 ga. pump. Shot 1 high flying Eurasian about 50 yds. up. Going back out tomorrow.

We just hunted this morning in 23 and glassed up 4 huge bull elk. Got buzzed by an Arizona Black when we were walking by a manzanita bush and saw 3 nice muley bucks on the way out. Not sure what the bears are eating. They ate raspberries a couple weeks ago. Prickly bear fruit is not ripe yet up high. Didn't see any acorns and juniper berries were hit and miss. Plus it is hot, although 62 degrees was nice 1st thing this morning.

This was a gray Dodge or Chevy shortbed single cab I think.

We had 3 stickers in the parking lot. Me, LukeDuke and you. You came in and grabbed some regs or something. We were getting bear tags and dove stamps and talking to the fisheries specialist. This was about 3:30.
