Very cool! I guess big cats are like house cats. They get run over a lot..... Ever work with a guy named Jim? He's been retired for awhile and is a big hunter. He got hurt in an ATV accident. He had the Phx to Ashfork route back in the day.

Flashlight and then start crawling. Make sure to have a knife in your mouth.

Don't think there are any true shotgun gunsmiths in the Valley. One passed away and one moved out of state. Try Briley Mfg. or Ballistic Specialties.

You have over 7000 posts.

There's some in the trailer park by the Yorkshire Costco gas station. I would get there early and try some calling.

^^^ Your story smacks of G&F just looking for revenue. C'mon, dried up power bait? You would think common sense would prevail on the officers part.

What kind of car and what work needs to be done?

I had a similar thing happen when I was younger and inexperienced. 2 bucks standing there in the junipers. Take aim and shoot. 2 deer now running. Shoot 2 more times and miss. Come to find out I hit one of the bucks 1st shot and it dropped behind a rock. Turns out there were 3 bucks and I only saw 2. Good thing I can't hit a running buck. (There's that inexperience thing again) As akaspecials said you should always check your shot before shooting again especially if it's brushy or from a blind. It's very easy to get caught up in the moment.

Glad you remembered! Reminds me of a deer hunt in 23 one year. My nephew had a borrowed Swaro spotting scope. I shot a buck on the last day. We got it back to the truck and left to go get Luke from school. Got almost back to the 260 and Ryan says "I forgot the spotting scope". We make a mad dash back almost side swiping a cattle trailer and Ryan runs up the hill and gets the scope. On the way down he starts running and soon he's going faster than his legs can keep up. I think he did a couple unintended cartwheels and then a couple rolls and finally a superman dive. The whole time the Swaro spotter is rolling down behind him. Luckily it was in a protective tube case. One of the funniest things I've ever seen! We got back just in time to get Luke.

I was brought up in a non hunting family. My Dad bought me a BB gun and I started hunting sparrows and starlings in the backyard. We started dove hunting because some friends did it. Then quail. Then javelina. Then deer. Then elk. Then antelope. Then put in for bighorn and buffalo. My wife's side of the family hunted when I met her so I fit right in. All 3 of my kids like to hunt. It's just hard to go sometimes with our busy schedules with school and softball etc. We do make it a point to get everyone together for a labor day dove hunt and then at least a couple days if someone gets an elk tag.

Congrats to you and your Dad!!! That's what memories are made of right there!!!

Retiring the Smith .44 this year and going to use my bow and my 460XVR Smith. Just the bullet passing by it will kill it!

Take the game meat to Adobe Mtn for the birds if you're in Phx area.

Recoil= Equal and opposite reaction=More shot=more kick. Less shot=less kick. Now throw in a spongy recoil pad and add weight to the gun and you relieve some of that recoil. From wiki Recoil (often called knockback, kickback or simply kick) is the backward movement of a gun when it is discharged. In technical terms, the recoil momentum acquired by the gun exactly balances the forward momentum of the projectile and exhaust gases (ejecta), according to Newton's third law, known as conservation of momentum. In hand-held small arms, the recoil momentum is transferred to the ground through the body of the shooter; while in heavier guns such as mounted machine guns or cannons, recoil momentum is transferred to the ground through the mount.

Nice! Congrats! Did you get him in that grassy area in the picture?
