    Getting Capes back from MX

Here's a link to the USDA's "New Requirements" http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/an..._hide_alert.pdf Capes need to be frozen then thawed? Dipped? Vet certified? Nice.....These guys are genius'! Here is the training manual on what these guys are looking for. Still not clear at all. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/pl..._17trophies.pdf I believe there will be issues at the border this year....

Glassed up another lion in 36 -c

Tons of cats in there. Seems like no one is hunting those lions, because of the border and the reservation being so close. Would be easy to send your dogs over the fence in a heartbeat. It's up to the coues deer hunters to snipe 'em! Buy a tag guys!

    Arrivaca mobile phone service

It's spotty service east and west of Arivaca, but you'll have good service in town, and on most hills. Good luck on your hunt.

    Guess the Lion weight!

My wife says that cat won't weigh an ounce over 85 pounds, I have a feeling she's closer than most!

Anybody here ever used the Gunclaw???

Cade will take care of you. The 701HDV head is the way to go. I use the Bogen Neotec 458B tripod, best in the world, bar none. Might need a mule to pack it, though. Lots of good carbon fibers on the market now, that what I would go with. I'll take the liberty of putting up a few Claw pics, I think Cade is in the field. This thing rocks. It has improved our clients shooting percentage dramatically, is easy to carry, and heck, I like big tripods anyway! With a full set of plates, the 15's, 10's, spotter, rangefinder, vid cam, digital cam and rifle all interchange on the tripod in a couple of seconds. The first one is way back in the day, a claw prototype and my wifes first Coues buck.

    What maps do you Use?

+2 on USGS 7.5 Topos I have the Nat Geo and Garmin software, and I still resort back to the topos. I use only UTM coords. I also use Nat Forest Maps, and BLM land use maps.

    Please welcome Borderland Adventures!

Thanks Amanda! We're glad to be sponsors, I've got some great friends and clients on here, and have made some great new friends through CW.com over the years. As you can see on my profile, I've been a member for a long time, but I don't post much. I do lurk almost everyday, though. I've been guiding since 2003, and Borderland Adventures has been around since 2007. We're growing as we speak, and we hunt most of the state, with the exception of Southwestern AZ, The Strip and The Kaibab. We've got a great team, and I'm sure some of you know them. I live in Southern AZ (Tubac), but spend alot of the year in Central AZ and New Mexico. Currently sitting in Northern New Mexico, and looking forward to getting back to the borderlands in a couple days. Check out our website to see a little bit of what we're about. www.borderlandadventures.com Here's a couple of pictures. Enjoy. I post up some more later. Matt Woodward

    Border issues?

Will your draw strategy change due to the current issues along our border? Did you use to hunt down south and no longer do? Just curious...

New bow -Hoyt, mathews, or bowtech?

Chris, I'm a diehard Mathew's guy, but the new Hoyts are incredible, IMO. Check out the Maxxis 31 or the Alphamax 32 for sweet shooter in that ATA range.

    Border issues?

Thanks for your responses, guys. I just wanted to get the general consensus of the CW bunch. FYI, it doesn't affect my decisions a bit. I live and raise my family in the borderlands. Josefine canyon in 34A to be exact. I also guide and outfit hunters in most of the units on our southern border, especially 34,35 and 36. And I don't carry an AR around. I will not, however, be hunting Sonora in the near future. We had a good run down there, but are now devoting more attention to the January archery hunts here in Arizona. Matt
