    Deer & Cattle

I glassed up three coues bucks on wednesday right smack in the middle of a group of cows and calves I already knew the bucks should be there, then i saw the cows, had second thoughts and glassed it anyway. sure enough, they were right in the middle of the herd. Then again, i recently abandoned a great coues water hole, due to a massive influx of cattle, all of a sudden not one coues deer drank there in two weeks! SOOOO.....I have no idea

    North of the River Muley's

Here's my 13A buck from last year. He doesn't score great, but he's over 10 years old and was as big as a mule. That was an awesome hunt!
  4. Whadda ya think guys? Could you snake a cable thru a couple of strategically placed holes to lock one of these up? I would like to set one up early, but i'm sure it would just walk off. Maybe you could cable it up so you would have to destroy the blind to take it? at least then, if it got stolen, i could have the satisfaction that nobody else could use it Thanks, Matt

  6. What do you guys think is the best hunting video camera out there? I'm leaning toward the Canon GL2 The XL1S seems like it might be a little to big. What are you guys using? Thanks in advance Matt

    Bowfishing

Flagcoueskiller and I hit the lake this weekend! The carp are up at Roosevelt! Fishing was slow, nobody seemed to be killin' em. The lake is CRAZY full! No Big fish, but we saw a few big buffalo. There were carp way up in the tonto, all over the salt end, and we shot them at Windy Island In the mean time we were pitching spinnerbaits and gitzits to saguaros and prickly pear patches GO NOW! Matt

    BACKPACKING BOOTS OPINIONS NEEDED

Yet another vote for the Meindl's. I have the Perfekts and the Alaskans Love them both. I wore Danners this year (2 pair) Desert Eagle GTX (nice Boot) and a low pair. I absolutley smashed both pairs in one season. Stitching and Soles gone! If I would have bought meindls last spring, i would still be wearing them. I will buy another set of Meindls in the next month or two.

    Hey Video Guys!

I'm Looking at the Canon XH-A1. Does anybody have experience with this camera? Similar to the GL2, but HD. XL1S and XL2 both seem a little big for hauling all over the mtns, XH-A1 would fit in a fanny pack, with doubler, and still kick butt on a tripod. What do you guys think? Matt
  12. I don't post very often, but thought i'd put a few pics up.....enjoy Mostly doe pics, i'll post a couple buck pics later

    Hey Video Guys!

I'll check into some of the other cameras. I have used a friends GL2 and loved it ( he has the high quaility doubler) I thought the double was a necessary in the desert. No TV show, just want quality hunting video, So i can post 'em on here I'm not worried about not using it, just worried about breaking it from constant abuse. Thanks again for all the advice! Matt

    A few Coues pics

I get decent pics out to 150 yards. beyond that quality drops quickly. I'v got the cheapy 70-300 lense, and a doubler (terrible quality) that REQUIRES tripod use. All these pics are on the ground from 20 yards to 125 yards. I think I gone overboard, though. I'm shopping for a video camera right now! Matt

    Cell Phones and Providers

Verizon all the way....good service in the 34's,35's and 36. Decent on the strip, good in the white mtns. I do have trouble near (not in) Flagstaff. I've tried to buy the antenna set up at radioshack, but the girl in the nogales store thinks i'm crazy. Matt

    Elk Hunting Help

    28/31/32 .......Extremely difficult at best
  22. I don’t post much, but thought I’d chime in. I went to US customs, at the Nogales port of entry(Centro, not Mariposa) and talked to the three officers at the main desk, about two hours ago. Here are a couple of their answers. Yes, you can bring meat back to the US from Mexico. No, it does not need to be frozen It is considered part of your trophy, your tagged antlers are proof of origin in mexico. Capes need to be chemically treated, Frozen solid, OR delivered to a USDA approved Taxidermist (immediately). You can get the proper form from your taxidermist (if they are USDA approved). Mine had copies on hand I asked all these questions about 3 ways to make sure everyone was clear. Sorry for the long post, but here is the protocol they explained to me: 1. Enter at Centro Port (nogales) 2. Before crossing park, walk you weapons in to US customs for inspection. 3. Fill out “personal effects” form 4. Enter Mexico 5. Immediately stop at Mx. Customs, get checked 6. Proceed to Mx Military base on east side of town. 7. Check guns again 8. Leave nogales 9. Stop at 21km checkpoint to obtain travel visa. 10. Then you are free to go hunt! I hope I didn’t miss anything. They said you cannot enter at Mariposa with guns or exit at mariposa with deer. Not sure how true all this is, but it is straight from the officers mouths. Also, make SURE your tag numbers match your hunting contract and that your gun permits serial numbers are the same. I’m headed down next Monday, good luck to everyone Matt

    Tripod search

I have the Big Bogen, the Outdoorsman, and a couple others. they all in my shed. I hunt with a the Slik Pro GM. Flagcoueskiller turned me on to it. He has the outdoorsman pistol on it, I have the jim white. Both are awesome. A little shakey in the wind if you're standing up, but quiet, easy to pack and cheap. Matt

    Helicopters Collide

It wasn't Bruce Haffner (sp?). Turns out, I know the Channel 3 pilot. Friend of a friend, kinda thing. He fly's for channel 3 part-time. Terrible tragedy, prayers out to all involved and affected. Matt
