Most dangers unit to hunt in the southern units
joeybari posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Ok there have been countless posts regarding how dangers it is to hunt down south because of the illegal’s and the drug smugglers. It seems that it has gotten worse over the years. So tell me the unit that you think is the most dangers and why? -

Funny I have hunted 35b for a couple of years and I really did not see to much going on there (just luck or the Patagonians are just to hard to pass don’t know) Now 36c was just a traffic jam in New York they were every were that was about 4 years ago -

+ 1 you too i thought i was the only butt that had to do that -
I sorry I don’t mean or want to imply that they are intimidated by a hunter but what I am saying its all about the mighty dollar and they will gun you down if your in the way but I don’t feel that they are actively going around holding a sign on there head attracting attention I think they rather avoid people or confrontation at all cost bcs lets face it its bad for business

I think this Is a great post I agree with all that is written about the topic of safety when hunting but I look at it this way if there is illegal’s out there with bags of what ever on there back, they don’t want to be caught or bothered by anyone so there not looking for trouble with us the hunters because they know that we as hunters are armed with guns, radios, cell phones GPS so on. That being said there in our country not only doing very bad things but screwing up our hunts for that they should be shot LOL. On a serious side the best thing we all can do ( I think) is if and when (bcs it will happen to every one of us in the southern units) is to call the BP ASAP and don’t bother with them don’t approach them don’t follow them. I look it at it this way I don’t want to be in any situation were my son has a negative idea of hunting and I don’t want to have camp fire stories to be about that ether bcs after all I want hunting to be a happy memory for my son just like it was for me with my dad. Also if my life or the life of my family is in trouble I will do what ever it takes to live.

I got dish network hooked up this weekend and of course I tuned into verses and the out door channel not sure if that was what it was call but anyway I was watching some of there hunting shows (Saturday and Sunday morning before football). At first I was enjoying the shows, flipping through each cannel picking the ones that I thought I would like well a couple of hours into my viewing I was kind of up set. First of all 85% of the shows were on a managed ranch were if you want to hunt there it would couple thousand dollars... The ranch manager practically handed the animal on a silver platter. Then the best part of it all the host of the show want on saying that it was a hard hunt bcs they were their of a couple of days and they were not sure which size animal to kill and they walk about 1 mile from the truck. Are you kidding me that not hunting that’s paying to go out a kill something. The best part was when the hunter went over the size of the animal and the great looking antlers saying that it was the biggest game and so on and so on and right behind him is this big feeder. Did I mention that it was a gated ranch. Not to mention all the gear that these guys are using don’t get me wrong you need gear for Coues deer hunts (binos, good scope, rang finder, gps what ever ) but this guy had it all never even took out some of the stuff that he had LOL. Tons of shows were like that .There was one or two shows that I did see that the hunter went out and scouted on there own did the work and ended up with a nice animal. Am I going about this wrong? What do you think ?.

Out of Ignorance- nonpermit-tag
joeybari replied to Buzz_Saw's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You’re in for a surprise I suggest start by reading the hunting small and big game guide lines then find or make friends with hunters who are some what familiar with AZ hunting and pick there brain. Also you can always ask Questions here on this sight where are many hunters on this sight how know what’s going on with AZ hunting all the time. We are all glad to help -
I think the reason why this got out of control is bcs of all our passion and love for hunting. In the beginning of this post I kind of want off on bowfly a little. I was not seeing eye to eye with him on the issue or the comments that he posted. It was one of those issues that I started off on the wrong foot I attacked only parts of his post that I felt were wrong to me. Going back and reading the post again I should have explain that I don’t care how some goes about hunting or there hunting methods as long as it is legal. I think the conversation that you had with the g&f was stupid and im sure as someone said in this post before every time you call down there a different officer of the g&f department and even the men and women out in the field will give you a different answer. That being said I am disagreeing with the comment about AZ animal population and the quality of the animals. Also I can see were Str8shot got upset. Bcs I was feeling the same way when I got attacked personally about my hunting ability, method, and my finical situation, were I have been so and so on. At first I was upset but thinking about it I love this sight I enjoy reading and writing about things that only us hunters can understand (hunting experiences, family, outdoors, history, politics, Coues deer, elk, big horn and even mules LOL). It’s great when someone like me who has not drawn an elk tag in 5 years gets to read and see pic about a successful elk hunt. (What more besides get an elk tag can I ask for). Anyway lets move on and enjoy all our future Coues hunt its coming up.

Can someone please explain to me what animal in Arizona would benefit from a feeder? Because that was what this post was about the benefit to the animals and I just don’t see it working in AZ The only thing that I can think of that would benefit from a feeder is us the hunter. Can someone help me change my mind im open for any facts

+1 on all comments Your right most of the show are about the items and how it was the make or brake of the hunt I got no problems using gear that can help me with my hunt like a good set of binos, bow, rifle, tripod, so on so on, but to say that’s the reason the hunt was successful is BS. My dad is the best example of that. He’s been hunting for years and he uses a old 30-06 with 2x10 scope and binos that look like that have been used during WW1 I just about 6 years ago got him to use a tripod he wont change his stuff (and its not bcs of money) but as sure as the sun comes up in the morning he gets his game. He does with pure and I mean pure experience, knowledge, instinct and love for the hunt (I always screw with him telling him that its all luck).
