    turrets

Ultramag I don’t think its what makes one better then the other i think i went the Leopold turrets bcs I felt like if something went wrong I had a good warranty behind it and also the fact that you can send it in and they do work for you as far as putting them in correctly the rest is up to the shooter to go to the range and get them right. Just my 2 pennies. But like I said before I would not go that way with the sent yard turrets for any gun and scope.

    Lil' help neede...

Everything that was said is 100% correct both guns are great for Coues hunting Your not going to blow a hole the size of the Grand Canyon if you use the right ammo you want a round can go long distances With Binos you will need a good tripod So if I were you I would start asking or looking up Glassing techniques Bino types Tripod Scope The gun you have to choose from is not the issue at all

    Custom Rifle Build

If your looking for a custom rifle that is not two expensive I would go with a 308 rem 700 LTR I think you can pick one up for 850 dollars it shoot great out of the box I use a 175 bt black hills ammo its cheep 29 dollars a box if you plain on reloading there is a ton of info on the net and books about that load. It’s a very good long range gun for paper and for hunting. The recoil is very low. I love mine I have hunted elk to Coues deer with it. I will tell you the thing that you will have to do is get a trigger job done on it asap but it comes with a floating barrel and I has the good old REM bolt action no work to be done there.

    turrets

I had done the same thing with my Leopold scope a few years ago and the best thing to do is call Leopold the manufacture them selves and they will ask you to send In the scope. They will go over with you on the phone or email on what you would like to do . And the best part they put in the new turrets for you . Are you getting TURRETS that have the yardage on them? If you get that system you will need to give them info like Average Velocity (fps) Bullet Wt (gr) Bullet BC(ballistic coefficient) Start Distance Altitude (ft) Temperature (F) Scope Ht (inch) And some other stuff I can’t remember sorry But to be honest with you I changed my TURRETS after a year. I did not like that system bcs every thing is a average measurements and there is no changing it. If you hunt in the northern part of the state the elevation is different then the southern part of the state. If you go out of the state to hunt, things like temperature and so on and so on effects your shot big time I am using a ¼ moa system as well as mil dot system for my wind (I could use the moa for wind but it takes to much time in the field) I think ones you understand MOA turrets You will realize the difference in your shooting abilities it’s the most accurate way I love it opens up a new way of shooting your rifle and things like wing elevation even the type of bullet that you shoot make a difference. Good luck

    .243 or 7 mm mag

Why so angry???? You can't argue which one has better terminal ballistics. We'll leave it at that. And you also can't assume that those who shoot LR aren't capable of closing the distance. MANY LR shooters are archery hunters as well and find themselves within "bow range" every year. In a perfect world, we'd all stalk in within 100 yards like you and your brother and whack 110" bucks. BUT, unfortunately there are much more variables to consider. Be careful calling people lazy who shoot beyond your abilities. Just because someone took a 500yd shot doesn't mean he's lazy. How do you know that he didn't just pack in 5 miles and spend 10days in a spike camp, hunting his butt off for a buck of a lifetime......which finally presents himself on the other side of a mean canyon? Boy does it feel good knowing that you've got all of the right equipment to make it come together. As mentioned before, shoot what's comfortable for you and what you're most accurate with- all the while considering YOUR limitations AND the calibers limitations. Many people out there shoot magnum rounds at these "tiny" critters NOT because the round strokes their ego, but because it far exceeds expectations of effectiveness. After-all, that's what we're trying to achieve, right? I drive a Toyota Tacoma. Although that little V-6 does a pretty good job with what I use it for, it sure would be nice to put a couple more friends in the cab and pull a trailer. Is that the exception to YOUR analogy? Possibly..... But I will say this. Many people out there find LR shooters/hunters to be an egotystical pile of lazy hunter-trash, but it's largely due to ignorance on their part. Most, not all, who argue that the .243 is just as capable of the .284 in effectiveness, will always back themselves up with "it's all about shot placement!" Never did a statement make more sense, right? But by using that, you'd ALSO have to agree that if I'm capable of shooting 1/2 of your group at TWICE the distance, I must be more prepared, right?????? Shoot whatever you want, but be disciplined enough to make the right decision when the opportunity arises. THAT'S the right answer to his question.... +1

    full moon

There a full moon out this week I have always felt like if there a full moon the big bucks go nocturnal. I have experienced that on some of my hunts over the years. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
