hunter72 replied to flatline's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Myself and my son are both sick with the flu hopefully we get better before the hunt. -
Yes the have been getting alot of rain the weeds and grass are waist high.it will be a good year.
-
Welles wildlife is the only one that I've seen that can get a bobcat right.it will be about 1800 for a full body mount.
-
I won't hunt the early hunt the deer are ugly and if you don't get them down quick the meat will go bad.i would like to see this hunt start the third week of Sept.
-
Who ever buy this I have some brass and loaded rounds if interested.
-

hunter72 replied to sherman's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I shot a deer with a 308 with the grand slam bullet it worked well and the meat loss was minimal. -

no please use a good fixed head to much energy loss on the big cut heads.Yes it will work sometimes but why risk it when they make some great fixed heads that shoot with fieldpoints. -
Newbie for coues needing a little help
hunter72 replied to cvitech2's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I would stay away from the 30a 30b hunts as they are a very tuff hunt with small deer numbers. The 31 32 33 units have better deer numbers and some big bucks. -
I have a perfect 1100 in 20ga limited edition with screw in chokes.Do you have any guns for trade?
-
They are alot of fun have used them a bunch the only fish you can shoot in AZ is carp.
-
Im going up to alpine in two weeks i will be scouting and putting up some cams.I hope i can find a couple of good bulls like that just in case someone else is on a bull i can have a back up bull.
-
6.5 all the way no need for 300 win mag horsepower.
-
I think the unit 32 hunt would be more fun as you wont have to be concern yourself with the drug mules. There has been alot of 100+ inch bucks shot in 32 so i dont think that will be a problem if the weather is good.
-
I have a 6x45 so far the best powder i tried is varget with 75gr bullets.I will say its the best yote gun i have ever used the just fall over drt.I think it would make a great coues rifle as long as you stay under 300 yds so the bullet would have the fps to open correctly. The nosler partion would be first with the barnes a close second.I used 4064 with the heavy bullets up to 100gr it worked well with all loads around 1/2 inch.

do all bucks get big with age
hunter72 replied to couesmagnet's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I think you said it about the rain and food.If we got two or more good years of rain it would make a big buck huge. -
I need to go put up my cams soon if the bulls are growing that big already. He is going to be a shooter for shure.
