fishing could be coming under attack by bogus means.
azphil replied to russd's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
You have to get everyone you know that hunts, fishes and owns a firearm to join their favorite organization. Even people who don't fall into these groups need to be shown, how one by one, our freedoms are being dimished or taken away. Most people wait for someone else to do the work and then it's too late when a bad bill or regulation passes. Get mad! Get involved! Work to get the right people elected to office! The political section of this website is one of the most important but one of the least used. SAD! -
I had to get rid of my high gloss stock so I ordered from Cabelas a Remington black composite stock to replace the factory wood stock on my Rem 700- no complaints -and it was inexpensive

Congrats- great buck- great story!

You had better luck than we did- we were in the Yellow Jacket creek area and saw no whitetail bucks in 3 days of hard hunting and glassing
-
We glassed our eyeballs out for 3 days in 36B -Yellow Jacket Creek area, and found 5 whitetail does and 8 mule deer- 1 was a 2pt buck- needless to say- we got skunked-- no rut activity without bucks - I did get to witness a whitetail doe in full escape mode from a yote at about 300 yds- I've never seen an animal in the wild move that fast- no shot at the yote- he was at full speed also- she got away

36B Very Dry and Very few Deer
azphil replied to LuckyGuy128's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I'm headed down there this weekend to scout up for our thanksgiving weekend hunt. We were near Pena Blanca last year with no sucess- saw only 2 spikes and several does. There were more mule deer doe than whitetail. No muley bucks. Too much border patrol activity down there. We'll try a little further north. -
Get out very early, find a good vantage point, get some good glass, and look under every bush. Look for some of the steeper canyons in the area and search the areas going in and our of them- saddles and draws. Brush choked bedding areas is where they'll end up after sunrise - hard to see into- but that's where thay are. Wet Beaver and West Clear Creek ar good drainages to scout.

Most reloading components are scarce- primers are also hard to find- it's easier to just order them online- they will ship when availiable- hope you wern't in a hurry!

I atteneded the first day of the NRA convention on Friday- Great response in attendence. The Grassroots Forum had over 350 people- double from last years convention. There was a 1/2 to 3/4 hour wait to get into the exibit hall- The Fire Dept.- was in crowd control mode. It was packed!!! US Airways Arena was sold out to hear the featured speakers. It's an event everyone should experience. We need to get every gun owner, hunter and fisherman signed into membership. Most people don't know of the stealth methods being employed by this administration to restrict our rights. A new one H.R. 45 is being bought up for consideration- Look it up and see what's going on. Contact your reps and tell them to deep six this thing. Send this out to your e-mail lists- We need to get more people involved in the political process. We can't be asleep at the wheel, while one by one, our freedoms are taken away or taxed out of reach of the average outdoorsman! Ted Nugent will be there on Sunday- I will make an attempt to get into his show!!- He is so passionate about hunting and the natural way that he turns some people off, but there is no one more dedicated to our sport- he needs to be commended for his hard work. See you at the show!! PS -Drag a friend down there with you- You'll never see a bigger gun show and so many goodies that you won't have time to see them all!

Obama's Citizenship Questioned Again
azphil replied to GameHauler's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The e-mail I got was a post from the Arizona Sentinal from May 2 2009- it has several links- judge for yourself. One of the links shows that obama has spent almost 1 million $ to keep his records hidden from the public. A simple release of his records would clear up all doubt - Right? -
Ted Nugent gave a very inspiring speech. He talked for 1 hour without the use of a teleprompter- from the heart. He said if you really believe in what you say the words flows naturally. I hope his talk gets put on youtube- run a search- it is worth watching. It's a call to action -to preserve our rights and our privliges. Sunday wasn't as crowded as the previous days but it made it nice to visit the booths and have time to leisurely enjoy the show. Get involved- our sport and our rights depend on it!

Obama's Citizenship Questioned Again
azphil replied to GameHauler's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I've also seen this report- I thought it had some links in it - I'll try to find it and post them. It arrived in my mailbox as spam eventhough it was sent by a friend on my contact list. What's going on? -
Who is Pat Oreilly? Are you talking about Bill O'reilly on Fox? He calls an american idol singer a patriot for endorsing HSUS!! Rush endorsing HSUS?? HSUS commercials on Dennis Miller show- Whats going on? Sorry I'm off thread- had to vent! Sarah Palin has come to her defense as have most of the conservative media. They just get drowned out by the mainstream "driveby media". We just need to get down and dirty aggressive to get our point out to the "sheeple" - (general Public).

Bobbyo definitely has it figgured out! The Delorme Topo USA program is pretty simple to navigate and seems to have good detail! We didn't connect on our first coues hunt in 36B last fall but we had a good idea of where we were going and some good places to spend time in. We did see several deer- all does. There's nothing more informative than time in the field and watching what 's going on. We also had some help from a local in the area who took the time to help out a couple of nubies to the coues way. We'll Be Back!!
-
Rush has a huge audience- mostly conservative I would think. I sent him an e-mail about hsus and told him to research this group further. He's always calling greenpeace and peta wakko groups. I don't know if he doesn't realize it but hsus is just as radical as the other 2 groups. Tell your friends to write, call and e-mail him and his company and express your views on his promotion of hsus. People are so busy with the fun things on this site they bypass the political section. It doesn't get the visits that it should. People need to realize that you have to WORK to keep things going well. People need to be told what's going on and to get involved. Everyone needs to be involved because someone wants to restrict your freedoms and TELL you what you should be doing. Get fired up and get involved before it's too late!!!

This is a tough time to call them up but it's also important to try as the fawn drop is here or nearing- less yotes means higher fawn survival

On Monday Cabelas was out of 380 and 40 cal but did have most everything else. The gun counter was very busy and the ammo was going pretty quick.
-
I was at Cabelas yesterday to get some 223 ammo. They did have some but they were out of several calibers of ammo like 380's. The shelves were thin on alot of other calibers. People were buying several boxes at a time. I got 200 rounds and the guy ahead of me got 500. Try to order ammo online is just as tough. I had some 223 backordered from Cabelas for 5 weeks before they were availiable. Trying to buy a semiauto rifle is tough- there aren't too many availiable. I got my Mini-14 at the grand opening of Sports Authority in Goodyear just before Christmas- they had 1 only and said their next one in was due in June because of the demand. People are concerned with the Obama administration and the people he has brought in to his inner circle- definitey anti-gun. He promised he wouldn't mess with our guns but with the people he's selected it's almost a sure thing that they will attempt to reinstate the Clinton policies we had to deal with during that administration. We need to get everyone we know to join NRA, GOA or SecondAmmendment Foundation and put up a united front for what is going to be some difficult times for legal gun owners. They're coming and you better be prepared!

Ammo Encoding rumor
azphil replied to singleshot's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Its great to hear a Rep. oppose this so strongly. We need to keep in constant contact with our Senators and Reps. With the new Obama administration taking power, our hunting and 2nd Amendment rights will be under constant attack like never before. The NRA convention is here in Phoenix this year and we need to send a powerful message to the people who want to restrict and take away our rights that we are ready and willing to take them on. Wayne LaPierre from the NRA was here in AZ this week to meet with convention volunteers. He is dedicated to the cause and will fight to the end for our rights. The biggest push will be to increase membership in the NRA. If we can double membership- that is a powerful message to our enemies. Some people have issues with the NRA, but in this climate we need to unite. If not the NRA, join another group like GOA or SAF. If we don't put up a strong, united front then we will end up like England, Canada and Australia. Every hunter and gun owner needs to GET INVOVLVED AND GET BUSY!! Our rights depend on it. -
I hunted 36b for the first time in Dec- I was also shocked at the amount of trash in the washes- If these areas are so obviously continually used by UDA's and smugglers- why aren't they under continious watch? I phoned into the BP on 3 UDA that we spotted during our hunt. I gave gps coords to the person on the phone. It went downhill from there. I was asked to give road #'s and mileage from certain locations as he told me that not all BP units had access to gps info. HUH? No access to Gps? This guy made me feel uncomfortable for making the call which ended up being 5 minutes of questions. We talked to some BP on the ground after 4 UDA ran through our camp at 4 AM. He said all units have gps access- so hummm- what was with the phone guy? Who knows. Anyway I've vented. Put me down to help with clean-up.

He seems to be a down to earth guy- the shows he does with his father are a hoot!!

Good question- A 600 yard rifle shot- a 70 yard archery shot- I also hear these stories and wonder. If you practice these shots and are proficient, I think it's ok. I'm no expert with bow or rifle but shoot both pretty well. I personally would not take either of these shots because of all the variables and the chance of a wounded, lost animal. When I dove or quail hunt and lose a bird, I consider it part of my limit. In the big scheme of things it probably doesn't matter but to me personally - it does. I've been fortunate to have never lost a big game animal that I have hit. I know it happens even to the pros on TV shows. Nothing goes to waste in nature, but I don't hunt to feed coyotes and buzzards. I don't shoot and hope- I take only shots I KNOW I can make. But that's just me.

Awesome buck- I checked all sources and I found Notellum Canyon near Wereizit Creek - congrats on a great buck!

Goodbye- good ridance!
