What do you gain by moving from an entry level bow to a high end set up
SirRoyal replied to apache12's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
At the very least your wallet won't hurt when you sit down! Lol All comes back to the hunter and his skills! I used to buy a new bow every year! I think a new bow every 5 years based technology advancement is good! In saying that I waited way to long to buy my last bow. Like 14 years but that was a mistake !I drew plenty of blood with it! When I got my Elite with every bell and whistle on it I could get. HUGE Difference! Sweetest bow I have ever shot! I have about $1800+ from top to bottom . I traded my part out for floorcovering and labor so it didn't hurt so bad! Well OK the labor still hurts. Ouch my aching back! Lol! The Pain was worth the Gain! -
If you know where a big bull is bedding sure try catch him by circling outside his bed . If I know his pattern I wait till I hear him first and then set up accordingly. I have found when they move out of their bed the cows will move towards the cow calling and or bugling! I have had many a good hunt in 9 this way. Let me put it to you this way. The last night of a 14 day hunt what are you gonna do the pressure is on ! You may never draw this tag again! Your stressing , your uncertain , your buddies try to help by telling you what to do! But your just more confused! Constantly second guessing yourself! Just remember water is huge! Especially if you have worked that area where the bulls bed and the water is near their beds. Jackpot!!

Most guys that are fighting for water are just as bad as the guides they blame for being on the water all the time. They are in the same area for purely selfish reasons just like everybody else! A 400" bull! It will bring out the worst in most! Most the guides I know are nice and will work with a hunter over a waterhole even alternating evenings! I don't even go where their at.There is plenty of good hunting elsewhere in 9!

Yes, the rut should be full swing by the middle of your hunt about the 25th! Those bulls won't even know a muzzle loader hunt happened!
-
Congrats on a world class tag! 1. There will be more than just a few big bulls killed on the muzzle loader hunt! But there will be enough left for you! Lol 2. Elk are scattered through out the unit. 3. Yes you should be able to kill a 350+ bull! 4. Hunt don't worry about anybody else. First come first serve on a water hole! I don't care if it's the pope himself! Stand your ground peacefully! 5. If it rains it will mess it up for a few days. But get ready that ground can suck up the water! Then get back on a waterhole! Over 50% of the bulls in 9 are killed on water!

That's a bull of a lifetime! 10×7 Do I dare say greater than 430" . Really need more angles to know for sure! Just using law of averages!
-
Bob your killing me! We will see who draws first blood this year! Lol Coosefan let me know if you find anything out!

AZbob,Now that's the best looking Ram I have seen in a long time! 175"?

I will tell you a problem your gonna have! Starting 2015 the feds made dodge take out the hi and low tire pressure switch! The factory rear tires are rated heavy duty and programmed at 80 lbs My 325/65r/18 are better than factory on load rating but only will hold 65lbs. So the computer is overriding everything else to tell my tire pressure is low! It's a joke! I don't know if it can be programmed down to 65lbs. Even the Tire shops did not know this!

No cutting and or rubbing what so ever! I'm going to do an air raid system and a programmer to try to increase gas mileage!

Pm sent!

You know, I believe someone did. But over in 19A.

Just in case anybody see's this truck out there you'll know it's me! Honk or stop by and say howdy!
-
I'm sorry you are correct +45 offset! I'm sure I'm not dyslexic hmmm! I know it's my fat fingers!

Mileage averages 14.5 . But I pull a trailer 2 or 3 times a week so it drops! This took me several months to figure out that Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 8 lug from the factory is a -45 offset. I went a zero offset which moved the wheel out about 2.4 inches. With a bigger lift I could have gone to a +12mm. I'll let you young guys climb up into a 6" lifted truck! I'm 6'5 and 300 lbs and with my leveling kit alone it's a giant step for me to get in my truck. It had a 2.5 rake on it and it was UGLY!!! So looking for steps now and a few other goodies! That's going to be a good looking truck Jim! You'll be hitting the car wash every week! I AM!

This guy knows 10 ok but I don't think he is a premier member. His vote should only count for half. Flatliner, I'm glad there is folks like you to blow smoke while I'm hunting! Makes for good reading before I go nighty nite under an awesome star studded sky!

That last pic just shows you just how much grip those BFG'S have! The truck didn't even start to tip backwards! LOL!

My 2015 4x4 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi 6 speed ready for the hunt! 2 1/2" leveling kit with Bilstein shocks. 325/65r18 BFG KO-2 Tires almost 35" Fuel Throttle wheels. Bushwhacker Pocket Fender Flares! This is my work Horse . No Diesels for me to heavy and way to noisy for hunting! Thanks Jim for the excuse! I been a dying to post a pic!

Big Bo stands for Big Boquillas Ranch! I help guys and gals out very year on that hunt. We always tag several of them out in the first or 2nd day! Williams would be my last choice!

Everybody recommends thier buddies! I know most of the outfitters mentioned are good! A few specialize in 10. I'm in 10 every year on most of the hunts! In fact I've been known to homestead few areas in unit 10. But no I'm not available. The 2 best guides in unit 10 are not even mentioned. And sometimes that's the best because there is no drama that follows them!
