A friend (JLG from one of th other boards) is taking me out a day or two, but it never hurts to have a Plan B. I've hunted Queen Valley area, and out off of Peralta Rd. Any other suggestions for a scouting trip?

Thanks yh

Kyle - Hunting here is a whole different ballgame, but I think you will like it! You can start with an OTC archery deer tag for December and/or January. Check out the AZ Game and Fish website. They have Unit reports, and as well - you can subscribe to a hunting newsletter. www.azgfd.com

Very cool story! (and glad the Gbow stuff works, too)

Thanks guys! My daughter couldn't understand why I wasn't more excited about "being almost 40"...

Regarding snipers - I spent 13 years in the Canadian Military (yes, we have one!) For a long time, our snipers also used 7.62mm. Now, the snipers use a .50 cal McMillan as their long range weapon, and have just selected the .338 Lapua as their medium range sniper rifle. A Cdn Sniper Det broke the combat kill record, while supporting US troops in Op Anaconda a couple of years ago... 2430 metres Regarding the video above... my concern with taking shots that long would be the animal moving.. that's a pretty long time-of-flight on that round, relatively speaking. Seems a lot could happen between trigger break and impact... -

I was there, along with my daughter. A ton of wants, here also - luckily, I got out spending only 80 bucks - which was my budget. -

I have a couple of friends that may be coming to bowhunt in January from North Carolina (or maybe South - I always get them mixed up). I want to start thinking about where we're going to hunt. I have hunted 33/37B the past 2 years. I haven't seen too many deer, but I am getting to know the Units pretty well. These guys will probably be shooting video, so I'd like to get them into some critters. I don't think they have a deer preference - Coues or Mulie. I'll be travelling from my home in Queen Creek, so need some Units within an hour or two's drive. Suggestions? Stick with 33/37B? Thanks....

Thanks everybody! I've found some sheds in 37B, including one big one. Have seen lots of deer tracks, but all I have seen is 3 does. Of course, I've been looking for pigs :-) I'll probably stick with 33/37B

Ernesto - Are you sure this was a problem? I'm not...

Find AzSlim or bowdude, on some of the other boards

I'd like to see some 6A Bulls... dead or alive I need a preview of things to come...

Muskie - always has a lion tag with him I figure thats the best way to keep from ever actually seeing one
-
thanks az4life - too be honest, I'm not sure where I'll be hunting. JLG from the other boards offered to take me out and has a place in mind. The unit is pretty close to home. In the past I've poked around Queen Valley, but haven't seen any deer yet. I saw a lot of lion tracks though. I'm pretty excited all the way around. My plan so far is: Sept - 22 Bear Nov - 6A Bull, then a 24B Mulie Jan - Archery Javelina and Coues Maybe I'll pull off an "Arizona mini-slam" this year
-
I drew a 24B Mule Deer tag - good luck, megahunter!
-
6A Muzzleloader Bull 24B Mule Deer Prior to this, all I have drawn in AZ was 2 javelina tags. I'm pretty stoked
-
Of course I do

Looking for recommendations for bullet selection. At the risk of alarming the purists, I'd like to know if there is a good compromise selection, instead of using 2 or 3 different rounds. I plan on hunting bear in September, and mulies in November
