Nothing for me, but all is not lost. I only applied for antelope and pigs online. Elk and deer were paper apps

Oh - was that the year that your buffalo tag was "spear only", Mr. G ??

FWIW, from Bowsite (July 18th, 11:48 am) I spoke to the AZGFD draw department. I was told the following: + They have not started the draw process. They are almost done loading the applicants into the computer which will take a couple more days - then they draw. + After they draw, they need to shut down the system for 40 hours to allow the 3rd party company to post the results. + They believe the results page will begin the 40 hour shut down on Friday with the results available on line Saturday or early Sunday. + This assumes no issues between now and then. Unless they are trying to throw me off, look for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. RedneckSundevil

Yeah, I saw him too on the way to Kayenta 2 weeks ago. Saw the 3 or 4 grazing on the way back, the next night

Here's a pretty good list that I got from Pat McHugh, who owns MPI Outdoors. They invented/sell the original "Space Blanket". Pat puts out a lot of good survival info http://arizonahuntingtoday.com/desertrat/?p=14

Thanks for the advice. I found some reviews online, and I'll have a look.

grbful - Yes, I was aware that Minolta had left the camera business. With that in mind, I thought there might be a deal to be had "out there" somewhere. As far as lenses, If I get a kit with one or two, that should suffice, for my level of expertise - well, between that and the odds and ends you can find on Ebay...

What about cameras? I may be looking for a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D in the near future...

Folks - I have started an Arizona-Centric, outdoors related blog. You can have a look here: http://www.arizonahuntingtoday.com/desertrat/ I just started posting tonight - I do plan on eventually mentioning my favorite AZ message boards! Comments (here or there) are welcome! I did put up a blurb already, on the ADA. Much more to come!! Marshall

What's your favorite thing about AZ?
muskrat replied to stanley's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well, I was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada. I then lived in northern Maine. Truth be told, I think I'd rather be back home. That being said, Arizona is a close second, and is feeling more like "home" to me, all the time. I am glad I moved here because it is soooo much different than where I came from. Had I moved to Tennessee, or Michigan or wherever - it would have been different, sure - but not so drastic a change as from northern Maine to AZ. I love the diversity of game, and as many have mentioned - the vastness of the state, and the many different types of terrains and ecosystems that can be found within our state. Desert is much different than I imagined it. It has been neat to see creatures I had only heard of before moving here - sheep, elk, javelina. I love the southwest "scene" - saguaros and Mexican food, kokopellis and gila monsters. I don't mind the heat so much, but I sure miss a nice grey, rainy day now and then. I'm not much of a city guy, so even in the burbs, I feel a little claustrophobic. I grew up i n a town of 5000 that literally, had only one traffic light. Slower pace is better for me. My only regret is that I haven't been able to hunt/travel/explore/fish as much of the state that I would have liked. -

New job is going well. If any of you need arc flash training, electrical maintenance, testing, acceptance testing, etc., done - let me know.. On another note, many of you know that my wife is disabled, and that's why I'm always so squirrelly about travelling, time limitations, etc. I wrote an article for Raising Arizona Kids about my wife and daughter, and it should be out in the August issue. Photographers are coming out for a shoot next week.

Allen, Stanley, Amanda, muley62, et al - As most people know, my home situation doesn't allow me to commit to regular meetings, out of town travel, etc. That being said, my offer stands to ADA (and any AZ hunting organization) in regards to helping with communications, newsletters, press releases, editing, etc. Writing is not only something I can do, but something that I am reasonably good at. If I can help in that capacity, PLEASE don't hesitate to contact me. Marshall
