I posted up on my site their comments on Facebook. Heaviest traffic day I have ever had. http://www.skinnymoose.com/desertrat/2012/04/20/bank-of-america-doesnt-want-mcmillans-business/ I just did a follow-up interview with Kelly McMillan this morning, will post soon.

Guys, I'm not a purist like many of you are. I'm not well-versed in either over the counter loads or handloads. Understanding that compromising always has potential down sides - is there a single bullet/load that would be effective (not "ideal") for elk/deer/antelope/bear? Again, I understand that ideally, there is a bullet/load combination that is probably better suited for each species. I just simply don't spend that much time hunting or at the range.

Not taking sides, but I think the only people who "deserve" an answer, are members of the ADA. An answer might be useful for prospective members or the general public to form an opinion on the group, but I don't think people who are not members are "owed" anything by the group. If the "sportsmen and women" of Arizona are that concerned with what any group says or does, then they should be members of said group. (Not saying you're a member or not, just saying)

I also sent the information to the Hunters' Rights Division of the NRA -
My wife has never been anti-hunting, but certainly "doesn't get it" for the most part. She's always been supportive but not enthused lol I had her watch this video the other night and she was "ooohing and aaaaahing" and then said "If you get one, it's going on the wall". Been with her 15 years and never thought I'd hear anything like that!

Where I grew up in eastern Canada, drawing a moose tag was a big deal (and still is). At the time if you drew a moose tag, you had to sit out the next 3 years. It seemed to work OK.
-
Rick - congrats - I drew a 21 General tag.

I emailed John Nores Jr - California Game Warden and one of the stars of NatGeo's "Wild Justice". Also authored a book - War in the Woods - about grow operations. I interviewed John as part of the marketing campaign for ISE... Hello Marshall! Hope all is well and very interesting question. The answer is yes, ammonia sulfate and sulfide especially are used in almost all grow sites as crop fertilizers. Very dangerous and polluting to water sources if it leaches into them as it often does in all these operations.

Was thinking grow op as well. Ammonia to keep the deer out.

Eliminate Auction tags entirely?

Agree 100% -
Eliminate Auction tags entirely?
muskrat replied to dobbs07's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
No, but no more or less than you could say with certainty that your idea will work better. It is my understanding that these threads are a place to post opinions. By stating an opinion that I think the current system is OK, doesn't negate your opinion, nor does it imply that there is more than one acceptable solution to the problem. -
Eliminate Auction tags entirely?
muskrat replied to dobbs07's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
What bigjohnson said. I see nothing wrong with the current model of offering a very limited number of auction tags. One rich guy with a checkbook can do more to help wildlife than some people could with a lifetime of habitat project volunteer-hours. Everything is relative - I rarely can afford a banquet ticket. When I do go, there are members there who are stacked with handfuls of raffle tickets and a debit card ready to purchase a safari at the silent auction. Should I resent those folks or be suspicious of their motives? Other posters have mentioned it - there are a plethora of challenges to hunting in Arizona and to date, we haven't stepped up to solve them. Not to say we haven't stepped up at all, but the problems exceed the current level of cash and volunteers. The problem with the current situation is the motivation of those individuals, the lack of forthrightness, and frankly the disregard for opinions of the critter groups and average hunters. It is clear that the AZSFW isn't doing this for our wildlife or to protect our heritage - their unwillingness to engage the groups and/or public clearly demonstrates that. -

John did a nice presentation, and he and I discussed 2072 at length after the meeting. It was an amicable discussion.

Thank you. Remove (or minimize) the need for funding and effort, remove the (perceived) need of AZSFW and auction tags. Anti-hunters are absolutely united; they want hunting, then fishing - eradicated. Meanwhile we bicker about compound versus traditional, whether hounds are ethical, baiting versus not, the use of guides... you name it, we can tear ourselves up fighting about it. Further - look around, we're preaching to the choir. 50 or a hundred people on internet message boards getting all fired up, banging on each other. I'm in more clubs than you. I spend more money than you. You're not reacting to this as vehemently as I think you should be. How many deer tags were issued last year? 10's of thousands? Where are those people in all of this? They have a stake in this. Those are the ones we have to motivate, educate and get engaged. Everyone has something to offer "the cause". Volunteer time, donate money, volunteer labor, offer services to the critter groups or habitat projects, man a phone, lick envelopes, cook at cookouts, whatever.
