My grandpa told me the story of his first deer last night. He said the drove from Lubbock TX to new mexico to hunt and after he shot his buck they threw it on the fender like this. They drove all the way back to Lubbock like that and when they got there all the meat was bad from the heat of the engine. I thought it was a funny story. He also told me that they bought resident New Mexico tags even though they lived in Texas.

I am using nosler 280ai brass. They didn't work up loads for me but I didn't ask either. That's part of the fun of having a custom rifle if you ask me.

Phoenix custom rifle is awesome!! They built a 280ai for me recently and I couldn't be happier with the rifle. I Highly recommend pcr for any build!

I've shot 2 wt with them out of a 280 rem. I personally love them. The exit on the one deer was about the size of a soft ball but that was at 100 yards. The deer I shot 2 years ago I don't even remember what the exit looked like but it was a much farther shot. I don't even remember if there was an exit.

6.5x55 Swede or .280 remington
briant_az replied to id_danman's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have a mountain rifle chambered in 280 that shoots really good. I shoot the 168gr bergers but I cant remember the velocity off the top of my head. I will say that its not as fast as I wish it was but its only a 22" barrel. -
.280 ackely improved dies

Brunos has the redding dies that use the bushings. I ordered mine from midway because I didnt want to use the bushings. -
Thanks for the 9mm ammo. Deal with confidence, I have known Vowell for a long time and he is a good guy and easy to deal with!

I got 4831 from brunos a couple weeks ago you might try them. When I was there they had a lot of powder.

Very nice rifles!! -
Thanks 308nut. Have any good loads you would recommend to try out??I still can't believe its finished. I loaded some ammo tonight but I have a feeling it will be saturday or sunday before I get to shoot it.

Just got it back from phoenix custom rifles today! I cant wait to shoot this thing. It's a rem 700 with a #5 brux 26" long. Mcmillian htg stock, timney trigger, and ptg bottom metal. Vortex razor 6-20x50 with vortex rings and seekins 20 moa base. Now I just need to load some ammo. Anyone have a good 280ai load with the 168gr bergers??

I weighed it last night and with the bipod and stock pack its 12 lbs.

I haven't really got to use it so I can't say too much about it yet. I will tell you that you have to be looking through it just right to get a good sight picture. When you get lined up behind it perfect it is crystal clear, by far the best glass I have ever had.

Since you are in bed already like an old person i guess you'll have to wait till tomorrow!!
