Two New Rifle Upgrades Coming Soon To An Addict Near You...
briant_az replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Always love to see your new builds Lance! Ive really been thinking about putting a proof barrel on my 280ai. I never want to take it hunting because it's so heavy! What did you pick the barrel up for? And are you going to have PCR do all the work? -
Dang I didn't know I stomped the defending champ! Now wheres that trophy? I wish there was a trophy! Anyone got a good idea for that? If you want I've got a Javelina skull you could have! Hahaha Here's what I was doing while you were kicking my butt yesterday!

Yes the finals are 2 weeks. I thought for sure it was over earlier. Its looking a little better now.

Might as well send Casey his money now. You're welcome for my donation!

I'd be in on $50 next year. Hopefully I won't have a November deer and elk tag again. Maybe that way I'll actually remember to set my lineup every week, and pay more attention. In all honest that probably just means I'll lose faster!

Rayne is a cool dude! I was trying to go to Mexico with them last year. I was in the middle of selling my business and it just didn't work out. I've talked to him a couple times since then. Always super informative and willing to just shoot the breeze. If you get an elk tag in 3a/3c next year, give them a call!

I do think there should be a bigger pot next year!

I'm actually really nervous. I'll be watching the game and probably having a couple drinks to calm the nerves! Good luck!
-
Don't get too excited, it's only the second year. Besides if I can win the first year, I think just about anybody could! Hopefully you'll get to beat me for the win. I don't have much faith in my team this year!

Just found out a little while ago I'll be going again next year. Had a great experience this year and can't wait to go back. I think we are going the last week of January or the first week of February

I buy a tag every year. I've never shot a lion but I have seen one almost every other year. Seems like every time I hunt down south someone in our hunting party sees one. I walked up on one during the archery javelina season two years ago. I think we both scared the crap out of each other. By the time I realized what it was, he was gone like a bolt of lightning. My buddy glassed one up in 24b a couple years ago during the archery javelina hunt. Never go hunting without a lion tag, you never know when you'll see one.

Be careful when it comes to the stocks, they take time to build. I've heard a couple horror stories about manners taking up to a year to get them made. They make awesome stocks though! I'd look into them or a McMillan with the edge fill. Just know that it could be very difficult to get one last minute.

I had a tikka in 243 that loved the federal blue box ammo. It was the cheapest stuff you could buy at sportsmans. It was 100 soft point I think. Not sure it would be the best choice of bullet for elk, but if he makes a good shot I'm sure it would work.

I saw them right after they first put them up. I really wish someone would have caught them pounding those poles through the saguaros. Stupid people! I've never seen anyone out there shooting at them. The last time I was out there, it looked like most of them were gone.

I've got some friends helping a kid in 5bs on a bull hunt and they could use some help. Tyler is here hunting from California through the Hunt of a Lifetime program. He has lymphoma and is currently in remission. He has been here hunting since Friday morning with his father and uncle. They were all supposed to leave today to go home, but decided to stay to the end of the hunt. A couple of my friends volunteered for the program and have been helping him since they got here. The bulls have been very call shy and its been a tough hunt for them so far. They've had a couple close calls but we would really like to get him a bull. If anyone would be willing to help in any way, can you please PM me. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't ask for anyone's hunting spots or help. I would really like to see Tyler get his elk though. Thank you guys!

Thank you sir, that's very nice of you to offer that!

Unfortunately Tyler was unable to harvest a bull. He did get three opportunities though. The last night of the hunt they had a nice bull come in. One of my buddies was able to cow call and stop the bull. Tyler only had a short time to shoot, and forgot to take the safety off the crossbow. Bummed that it didn't work out for him. It sounds like he had a good time though. This was his first hunt and hopefully he will get to experience many more. It sounds like he might come out in January for a javelina hunt. I really hope he does. Thank you everyone that pm'd me to try and help him. This forum and all the people here are awesome. Good luck to everyone on the upcoming hunts. The best time of the year is here!

If I had the extra money I'd be all over this. I've always wanted a 257.
