I hunted this unit once, and scored on a 106inch buck you see in my avatar, and my brother-in-law took a 90 inch buck on the same hunt, both bucks droped within 50 yards of each other and shot seconds apart. Anyway, take the fossil springs road, south from 260 approx. 7.8 miles and you will see a small two track road that leads into hackbarry basin. A great spot to glass all day. That is where we took the bucks. That is the only area I scouted and succeeded in 2008. It was the second hunt in november. Good luck

I am looking for help with a muzzle brake. I purchased a remington 700sps tactical in 308. It has a threaded barrell in 5/8x24 threads and having a hard time finding a muzzle brake to fit that will just screw on. I ordered one online at nelson tactical but its for a AR-10 type barrel and did not fit all the way on. I've checked brownels, midway ect but was wondering if anyone here has purchased one for their remington and put it on. Thanks

San Carlos, Unit C, August
buglethemin replied to Gringo's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Unit C has bear all over, just find a good glassing spot, and food source you should see 3-6 bears a day. When the prickly pear was not ripe, we had great success sitting on tanks and doing a little calling. Good luck, its a great hunt, been up there the last 3 years hunting in C, and every year our parties have 100 percent success, when havent had tag go unfilled. Just be prepared for mud, and mud if its a good monsoon this year. -
State Senator speaks about SB 1070
buglethemin posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Here is an interesting article from a state senator, wonder why the left media has not showed this?? I’m Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 for which I voted yes. Rancher Robert Krentz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified. The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles. Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains. One man told of two illegal’s who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can’t leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back. The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border. Federal prisons have over 35% illegal’s and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal’s. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal. The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life. The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states . We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education costs have been over a billion dollars. The healthcare cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop. The border can be secured. We have the technology and we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under. I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do this until the Border is secure. It will do no good to give them amnesty because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico , Canada or any of the other Central American or South American country? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish. We have already lost our history, it is no longer taught in our schools, and we have lost our borders. The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany. Are you kidding? The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal’s from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause, like a traffic stop, to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear, if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote or get a hunting license. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street. The Socialists who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something. The Socialists wants us to just let them come. They want the “Transformation” to continue. Maybe it is too late to save America . Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic . Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution, the law of our land, which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. Senator Sylvia Allen . -

Gigs UP!!! What's up with the leftover tags?????
buglethemin replied to RoughCut's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I think the Hopi hunts are a crock of you know what. Looks like the Tribal members dont want to pay for the permits, nor do I blame them. Have you seen the prices for us to hunt on their lands, bs, why dont we charge them fees like they do us, besides why would they want to pay for tags, when some nations they get them free or very discounted. All I see is that for those units our tags were taken away for what? Working relations to retain some land. Just my thought. -
Gigs UP!!! What's up with the leftover tags?????
buglethemin replied to RoughCut's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
There for the Hopi Trusts lands in 4a, 5a, &5b, way to go azgfd, set asside these tags for hopi members and non of them put in for the tags. So my question is, what if these tags go unsold, will they be up for grabs for non-tribal members to hunt on our state land. The way it reads now is that Non-Hopi Tribal members cannot apply for these tags. We shall see. -
Putting my FNPS90 up for sale, see link below to see pic of what the weapon looks like. I bought it new, and its never been fired. Purchased it during the Obama scare of taken away assault weapons. Just sits in my safe now. Need $ to do front yard landscaping. Come with 30rd and 50rd mag, and 400 rds of 5.7x28 ammo. asking $1750. www.fnhusa.com/mil/products/firearms/family.asp?fid... The PS90 provides a compact, lightweight and completely ambidextrous firearm capable of fulfilling numerous security, personal defense, competition and recreational shooting roles. Fired cases are ejected downward where they cannot interfere with the user. The extended 16.04" barrel and closed bolt operation give the PS90 outstanding accuracy, while the non magnifying optical sight makes it easy to locate and stay on a target. Recoil is reduced by the integral muzzle break.

Why do alot of you like the onlin application process. I know its convient, certainly for non residents, but looking in the past, there seemed to be more applying during the online process than the standard traditional paper process. This seemed true for Bighorn and Buffalo. Sure its cheap to just apply and if your drawn then they charge your card, but this puts alot of the non-die-hards (weekend warriors) back into the application process. I would probable like the online process if they charge your card for all the fees up front, Lic, & Tag, maybe that way we will have the convience of applying online, but also keeping some of the non-die-hards out. Just thinkning.

In my opinon, its the best round out there. I shoot a Tika T3, 270wsm, equipped w/zeiss scope. Did the break in with the barrel, one box of 20 took forever to break it in, and I lapped the scope rings before mounting the scope. I use the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip in 150 grain, and so far have taken, (3) coues with it at ranges of 200, 262, 300, (2) black bear at 419 and 400, (1) mulie at 100, (1) elk at 326, and a coyote, head shot at 410. With that 150 gr ballistic tip, which worked best for my rife, bench shots my best 5 shot group at 500 yds, was at 4 an a quarter inch.Your going to love that round, no matter what bullet you use.

I have no problem with peopel asking what unit, I am the opposite than you, I would prefer that people post the unit of the kill. I always do with all my kills and photos. Dont get me wrong Im not going to give the honey hole away, but it would be nice to see what unit some of the trophies this state has to offer are coming from. Im not worried about other hunters going into the units I hunt, I can out glass, hike, hunt most hunters in this state. So it doent bother me one bit.

Finish it off, and dont tell anyone, dont let the animal suffer. As far as judges, yeah right there are so many liberal judges they would find you guilty no matter what. I have had too many good law abiding friends who made a simple mistake, called the game and fish to advise them of the mistake, (did the right thing) game and fish showed up, took the animal, tag, and cited them. (example shooting a spike bull, on a cow hunt) and the judge still did not give them a break. Also had a friend, shot a bear with his bow, went back to his cabin for a few hours because he was not sure of the shot, decided at that time to check if the unit was still open, and low and behold it was not. He knew it was his fault for not checking first, but did the right thing. He called the local game warden, took him to the shot location, they found his arrow with blood on it, but they never found the bear. He was fined $375 dollars. Never even found the animal and he still got fined. Now what kind of message is this showing us, who may at one time make a mistake and report it, THey gut hung out to dry. If anyone ever calls me and ask what to do, I'll tell them dont report it.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you have the SS# and make a police report for a loss item. Give them the SS# and they enter in as lost item. If anyone anywhere in the nation turns them over to Law Enforcement a quick run of the SS# will show the rightfull owner. Good luck.
