ya so i didnt get one this time. shouldnt have passed the 5x opening morning. had a good time hunting though. last day i messed up a stalk on a little rag 5 and that evening got on a little 3x that i let a buddy take. it was just as much fun letting him kill than if i did. been with another friend on this last hunt. put two down this evening, a little spike my buddy shot and his uncle also got one. its a tough hunt way to many tags and way to many elk getting taken. i think personal the G&F thinks more about managing the money than managing the game but thats just my two cents worth.

ya so the hunt didnt go as planned so far. went to the twin buttes and hunted the wilderness to try to get away from all the hunters. still a lot of hunters and not many elk. saw about 100 elk over the weekend with one good five the first day i passed on and a few smaller bulls, most were cows. now im hunting some lower country and going for anything with antlers. saw another five this evening but another hunter got him before i could.

What I am most thankful for is that God sent Jesus to die for all our sins. He is always there for us and we aren't always there for him but he stays true. second I'm thankful for the opportunity i have to punch cows in Young. i get to be in the woods everyday, doing what i love and seeing Gods beautiful creation. I am also thankful for the 22 north bull tag i got and being able to hunt with friends and family. im just thankful for anything and everything i have.

here is the whole story Thirty point DEER Shot by an Amish boy with hand made long bow: This buck was taken by a 14 year old Amish boy near Dalton WI . He used a hand made long bow and made the killing shot by stalking the huge buck using corn shocks for cover. The boy's family would not allow him to pose with the trophy animal for pictures so a nearby neighbor, Willie Flacid posed and is also acting as spokesman for the Amish boy. According to Flacid, the Amish family has already received several offers from outdoor sporting companies to purchase the trophy. No dollar amount has been announced yet, but according to Flacid, 'the amount of money being offered is enough that no one would ever be hard up again.'

This ain't really hunt related but i need to upgrade trucks. bought a new gooseneck trailer without thinking much and my old truck ain't got the hitch. I'm looking for anything that has or can have a gooseneck hitch and is 1990 or newer. would prefer a cummins but whatever anyone has or knows of ill take a look at. please nothing 2000 or newer. i need to be able to beat it up a little and not worry to much. thanks a lot

some will take them from you. i was with an old judge and found a head. we hung it in a tree because it still had skin and hair. his wife slipped to the neighbor who call the boys in brown who mad us take them to the tree, then the elks body, and ended up confiscating the head because we didn't call before. wasn't a huge elk but a good five and im sure that officer has it on his wall now. but i've also packed out a whole head and had an officer stop and talk and not even mention the head. best thing is not to tell them.

How do you train a dog for hunting lions
jldeerslayer replied to draggingnuts's topic in Other Big Game
the best way to train a pup is to hunt with someone who has good dogs and neck it to a good dog or if you dont want that good one slowed down neck two pups together. its harder for them to run off necked up like that. and when you get the lion let the pups chew on it a little so the next time they remember that and that will be there goal to get to chew on it. good luck -
great pics and story. i love the ol gato. thats the best hunt in my book. but like you said its a lot of walking and running to keep up with the dogs. that hunt in my book is the best hunt. you work the pups you get to see the lion and even though it gets away, you know the dogs are locked on, you got to see the thing, and shes still in there for the next time. anyhow good job on the hunt
