BJ Hill just got the guide license and is just starting out. He has the cross seven outfitters (+7) in tonto basin arizona. he has some good dogs and lion hunting is his passion. any free time since i can remember he goes lion hunting. he aint the best as hes just starting out but the prices I know aint real steep so maybe give him a call at 928-978-2141. good luck with whoever you hunt with. when you get one youll be hooked. i honestly recommend going on the full hunt because it really makes it so much more memorable and you really appreciate your cat.

Whats In A Name
jldeerslayer replied to GameHauler's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
simple reason. ive been drawn every year since i put in. got 1 whitetail spike, one muley doe (legally), a two point whitey, a good 3x4 105" whitey, a four point muley 165", nothing, a spike muley, and a 3 point muley. so just figured the name fit for now. they aint all good deer for most but i go at it as any bucks a good buck and sometimes God gives me a great deer and others not so great but theyve all been fun hunts -
well nothing really special here. im kind of a jack of all trades. worked construction in high school. now i punch cows in young az. i also shoe horses, ride colts, and catch wild cows. the only good thing about this job is im in the woods everyday

been glassing with my buddies the last three months and man theres a lot of great bucks in 22 this year. we've been all over the unit, from mt ord and the sunflower area, to tonto basin, hardscrabble and the wilderness. lots of bucks a few dandies. hope everyone including my buddy who has this tag can get a great buck and have fun enjoying Gods creation.

some good whiteys in 22
jldeerslayer replied to jldeerslayer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Good news two buddies got deer. the biggest is a 104 inch whitey we got in southern part of 22. my other buddy killed this morning. hed been holding out for a toad we saw a couple times glassing but ended up with about and 85 inch whitey. good bucks both of them but sorry no pictures yet. -
you just have to keep glassing. dont try to follow their tracks of pull any of that just sit and glass. they are tough to find but go over the same area 3,4, however many times. you could miss him ten times and the eleventh see an ear flick and find you a buck. and go in the rough places where there aren't a lot of other hunters. there may be less deer in some of those spots but you'll have less people to compete with and better chances

Ya being from Payson and hunting this unit my whole life like everyone else is saying, the weekends will be hard to find anywhere where other folks aint going to be. i usually hunt into the mazatzals on the weekends then come closer to town during the week. the difference in the weekend and week hunts is huge. you dont see half, a quarter of the people from the weekend. so if you dont kill that first weekend stay a day or two and youll have some luck

Precautions in southern units
jldeerslayer replied to NativeRat's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
just keep that gun handy. they usually dont bother you unless theyre packin dope. if you hit some dope runners and they do anything, shoot them son of a bucks and ask questions later. them are the ones to watch for. as for your camp. ya they will get into it. i had them in mine two years ago. just hid anything valuable in a truck or somewhere safe
