    Kill 600-900 Bison in Yellowstone????

The Yellowstone Herd carries brucellosis I believe which would probably render those animals unworthy to translocate to establish a herd or augment an existing herd.

Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!

My name is Nick Heatwole. I was one of the six "regular joes", there were also six guys with deep pockets that made up the Board. My opinion at the time was the bill stunk to high heaven and was a slap in the face to sportsman. As I said before though I was no longer on that Board and had no prior knowledge of this whatsoever. Personally I think 3 tags going to auction or raffle is almost too many, never mind dozens. I drew a sheep and an antelope tag in 2010 and didn't really have a whole lot to do with them after that since I'd rather actually hunt than piss and moan about all the issues. Been that way ever since.

Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!

I also know for a fact that Trent resigned and moved to Colorado a good time before this billed dropped as well. I'm not only willing to stick up for myself, but others who I know were clearly not involved. Using old or incorrect information to try to associate people with wrongdoing is not cool unless you know the whole story or have all the facts! I for one am not going to sit here and tolerate my name or other innocent people being associated with any of that nonsense!

Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!

Someone posted my name on here in relation to the HB 1072 conversation, again. For the record once again, I didn't have a dang thing to do with any of this. Never even heard of it until Steve Clark called me and asked about it. For anyone who really cares I had resigned almost a year before they dropped that idiotic bill but they never really kept up with their website so my name appeared in their BOD list at the time the bill was introduced. PM me if you need any more info.

    44BN Hunt

Great Job Bruce! Congratulations on your sheep hunt!
  16. On my last hunt on the Kaibab, there was some rain and I found out real quick that my current Rain Suede is toast. It is heavy and not the most packable to begin with. Could use pit zips. Outer fabric is quiet but holds moisture. What are you guys using here in AZ that you like? I don't need camo, probably prefer something without. Don't like many pockets, particularly randomly placed pockets that really serve no function (sleeves, huge pockets on only one side of the jacket). Want something that is light enough that I will always carry it in my pack. Prefer something that is somewhat quiet. Pit zips to release heat and moisture are a huge plus. Does anyone have a rain jacket that they want to brag about? I should have bought a KUIU Chugach gray jacket back when they were on clearance but I thought my Rain Suede would last longer than it did. My OCD won't let me buy the newer, heavier Made in China Chugach with the single chest pocket. Nick

    Base Layer

I love my Thermax base layer set I bought from Cabela's many moons ago. This stuff was made in USA, tough, and warm but light. The top is a henley with buttons you can undo. Has some kind of silver so it doesnt' stink up as fast as the UA heat gear tops I also use in milder conditions. Wish I could buy two more sets of it, but of course the did away with it quite a while ago. When I have to do it over again I'll probably go the merino route or possibly a synthetic/merino blend.

    Target Panic Cure?

Speaking only for myself, target panic issues start to set in when I try to get the bow to go off when I am trying to steadily hold a pin directly on a spot. Naturally your pin is going to float or circle or bobble up and down around the point of aim. My brain can't execute a consistent shot with regularity when I am trying to get the bow to go off at the instant it is on the spot or if I try to hold it on the spot and release. If my pin is in the general vicinity of the spot and my brain is surprised by the release at back tension, my groups are way smaller and I have way fewer "flyers". This all gets worse with stress or fatigue. Once that starts I give up and try again another time. With a traditional bow like a recurve with no sights, my aiming method is instinctive. I focus on the target and aim the bow where I want to hit. My brain makes that calculation pretty quick on how to adjust. It's all hand eye coordination a lot like throwing a football or baseball, which your brain does without sights also.

    Epic First Hunt!

Dude, you are on a roll lately! First goose for you, nice buck for you, big deer for Bro in law! Great Season Adam!
  23. Right on Adam! My first goose was a "white" goose also but I think it was a Ross'. It was tiny!

    Target Panic Cure?

This! Let the pin float. Don't try to hold it on the spot. Surprise release. Follow through with back tension. Concentrate on the spot long after the shot. Can't emphasize letting the pin float enough.
  25. Thanks for the invite Kidso. Long haul from Yuma so we probably won't make it. You are certainly in the Spirit brother! Merry Christmas!
