Day 13 Bull...EDIT with pic of Euro almost done
Heat replied to azelkhunter69's topic in Elk Hunting
Very cool bull man! Way to get it done. Thanks for sharing. -
All over the Kaibab! I found pieces of an ice age era tortoise near Yuma.

Nice Job Ernesto!

I'm headed to the upper midwest (Michigan) to do some river salmon fishing in about a month. Fully expect cold temps. What brand and model of waders would you recommend that absolutely will not leak and won't break the bank. Budget around $200 but would like to keep it well under if possible. Thanks in advance. PS I have a set of Hodgman waders that have been in the garage for too long and they leak like a seive. These are the "breathable" type. Not too worried about breathable for this trip. Needs something more reliable than breathable.

Made in Europe or USA is the way to go. I look for one piece, full grain leather, no liner or insulation, stitch down not glued sole. Hard to find everything I like in one boot so I often compromise on one or another feature. Most recently have worn LA Sportiva, Zamberlan, and now using some Keens. Not thinking the Keens are going to last long but they are lightweight and very comfortable. For $70 on clearance it was worth the gamble. So far, so good. Most important is fit. Everybody is different. Try a bunch.

Right on man, Congratulations on your pronghorn. Even better that the boy was there!

Outstanding on all counts! Way cool man. That is a really nice Billy! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Very, very cool Pat! That is a great Pronghorn buck. Congratulations!

Not to take anything away from the other guys listed here but my first call to a taxidermist would be to Jim Hartsock at Southwest Wildlife Taxidermy. He is an excellent artist and a trustworthy person. Actually I would talk to him before I even went hunting. Good Luck!

Come on guys, nobody has any leaky waders stories for me? LOL! How about a duck hunting or fishing site to recommend that might have more experience with waders? Thanks!

Spent a week in Montana recently. Fished on the Flathead River behind the house we stayed in and floated the Flathead in a driftboat. Epic! Caught wild cutthroat, rainbows, maybe a bull trout but possibly a lake trout, and a hybrid of some sort. One of the highlights was an 18" kokanee my buddy caught behind the house. That was the only fish we kept and ate but it was delicious. Also caught my first fish on a fly rod.

Red Wing guy here too. 595 is a Yuma staple. 2245 for real work.

I remember going to Hawley Lake as a kid. Such a beautiful place. Visiting the White Mountains in those days ignited a fire for trout fishing that I don't think will ever go out. Hopefully some of those youngsters will catch the fever.

I loved your Mom's expression at the end "Holy Smokes"! No kidding! What an action packed day. Congratulations to you guys and thanks for sharing!

I learned a bit about AC's this summer when a capacitor on mine went out. Blower motor was running but the air was blowing really hot in the house. Went to take a look at the unit and noticed that the fan motor on the AC unit was not blowing at all. Found a narrow stick and gave the blade a push start and was back in business until the next day when my buddy who does AC work could get a new capacitor for me. Haven't had an issue since. Cost me $50 to have him diagnose it and change it versus calling an AC guy over the weekend who would have probably hit me for 5 times that. Moral of the story is the capacitor just gives a boost to the fan motor to start up. If you can do that with a push start it might keep you going until you can get someone over. Like they said above though if your compressor is bad you are better off turning off the whole system.

Beautiful pups! My yellow loved open water but I literally had to hold him down to bathe him. He hated the shower or the hose!

We have a Left Handed PSE Compound Bow for sale. This is one of the Ready to Shoot packages or whatever they call it. Highly adjustable in draw length and draw weight. Great for a youngster or an adult beginner. Shot very little. Pics available upon request. Comes with the rest and sight and whatever arrows we have left. $200 OBO. Not a thing wrong with the bow, the young man just never caught the archery bug.

Had a similar dilemma in 2012. Had archery tags for elk and pronghorn in Unit 1. Spent a week hunting each. If I had a do over, I would have spent more time hunting pronghorn than elk. Elk tags seem to come around a lot more. I had just killed an goat in 2010 with a rifle so I wasn't really chomping at the bit to get another goat so much. It was a great hunt and had a blast. Good Luck!

Way to go guys! EPIC!

Moose anywhere way out in the sticks where Caribou is an option as well and the fish are hungry! Alaska, NWT, Yukon come to mind.

Hang in there Mike. Prayers up.

When it comes to footwear don't get hung up on names. What works for one person might not work for the next. Feet come in many shapes and sizes of course. Try a bunch on and find something that feels really good for YOUR feet! I prefer un-lined, un-insulated, full-grain leather, one piece upper that is stitched on not glued on. Hard to find all that in one pair. I usually compromise there somewhere. With some good mink oil or other leather conditioner on a quality leather you won't need any waterproof liner which makes your feet hotter than anything else. Certainly don't need insulated boots very often in Arizona, especially with a good pair of dry, wool socks. Stiffness will depend on what you normally carry. I prefer a trekking boot which can handle carrying some weight but normally a lot lighter than your typical mountaineering boot and a bit heavier than your normal trail hiker that might not give you the support you might want if you are backpacking in or carrying meat out.

I'm jealous already. Got nothing for you but best wishes on a fun and safe trip!
