    Another first for my son!

Great job guys and an extra congratulations to the young man on his first archery bull elk! That is so cool! Nice fronts on that bull. That is a shooter any day in my book.

    Trophy Bull Poached

I'm just going to leave this here. Take a look at the pics on page 1 of this earlier thread. Does a certain bull look familiar to anybody else?

    Help With Score Guess

His net score is going to hurt because of the lack of symmetry. I would guess he is 140 or so. Gross probably add at least 10, maybe 15.

    Wtb recurve bow

I would look at Ebay. There are a lot of old bows floating around on there where you can get a pretty good deal on a bow unless its a highly collectable item. Something like an older Bear Kodiak, Grizzly or Super Kodiak is good. Lots of others like Howatt, Pearson, Shakespeare, Browning, Wing, etc. Other options to shop are ArcheryTalk Classifieds, Bowsite's Leatherwall Classifieds, FootedShaft, TraditionalArcherySales, and the grand daddy RockyMountainSpecialtyGear. Sounds like you are on the right track on weight. Get some properly spined arrows and let it rip! Good Luck Man. Be careful though, traditional bows are kind of addicting. I got one just to have as a backup for my main bow and now I have 5 of the darn things and I'm always on the hunt for something else to add to the stash. I saw this one tonight. I had to resist. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Bear-Archery-Grizzly-Recurve-Bow-45lb-Grayling-Mich-Very-Clean/323927083673?hash=item4b6b8f0a99:g:s2oAAOSwP0RdippA

    37b Muleys

I killed a decent buck there in 2012 on January 2nd during the archery season. It is my first and only muley buck with a bow. It was super windy that day and it had the deer all messed up. I was able to approach to around 60 yards then waited for a doe to get up and move, taking the buck with her giving me a 40 yard broadside shot. I hit him slightly high and back but still got both lungs. He ran about 150 yards and hit the dirt. I was a happy camper! I was about a mile and a half from the truck so it was a pain in the butt to pack out the first load but I had help with the rest.

Right on, bet she won't be forgetting about that shot anytime soon!

In case you missed it :)

This is clearly all for her own edification and self promotion. If she was really trying to help, she would learn Mandarin and Hindi and tell it to those 3rd world countries that don't give a rats butt about environmental laws.

    Anyone know this truck?

Diesel fouling tanks, 5 hits no recovery, shots fired...what the heck is wrong with people? All this over elk? I love the dang things as much or more than most guys but I will give it all up before I stoop low enough to pull any of that nonsense! People have no respect for anything anymore. All they care about is that dang Instagram pic it seems. I don't know if its social media and instant access to info so we just know more about these incidents now or if there are really that many bungholes out there. Its despicable none the less!

    Rut Activity

Thanks for the footage Trphyhntr! Sweet sights and sounds for an elkoholic without a tag! I'm hoping for a little late rut action in 23 for my wife's hunt.

    Portable ozone generator

I would say it's worth a shot man if the bugs are bad. Didn't have any issues on my deal, but that can certainly change from spot to spot, and time of year.

    Any metalheads?

You are the first person I have ever heard of that actually saw the Doors perform, that's pretty cool! Janice Joplin, Bo Didly, Chuck Berry too! Way cool. Props for The Who and Queen too.

    Any metalheads?

I like all kinds of music. Very fond of lots of metal. My brother is a full on headbanger! He's a drummer and was in an Iron Maiden tribute band named Total Eclipse not too long ago. He can play ALL that stuff in his sleep! I got turned onto Iron Maiden about the mid 80's. Saw them at Desert Sky or Cricket or whatever its called now about 10 or 15 years ago. Somewhere Back in Time Tour if I remember right. Epic!!! I wish I had my stack of ticket stubs with me to help me out but lets say I've seen a BUNCH of concerts. First concert I can remember going to was Jazz legend Buddy Rich with my Dad and brother at like age 5. Most recently Willie Nelson. I've seen everything from Punk to Reggae, Metal to Country and everything in between. Not too much into the more recent R&B or rap music but the old Motown stuff is really great. Notable artists/bands I've seen, certainly not even close to all: Metal/Rock: Cinderella/David Lee Roth (12 or 13 years old, Veterans Coliseum, first real rock concert, Steve Vai on lead guitar, my ears rang for days!), Motley Crue/LA Guns (Veterans Coliseum, Girls, Girls, Girls tour, 87?), Metallica (in the brand spanking new America West Arena, 1992), Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Dio with Heaven and heck, Primus Reggae: Steel Pulse, Eek A Mouse, Black Uhuru, Don Carlos, Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, Ziggy Marley (Paradise Casino, Winterhaven CA), Bad Brains (punk?), Culture Classic Rock: Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead (15 times in 3 years), Santana, Allman Brothers Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (the last tour, Red Rocks CO), Fleetwood Mac, Dave Matthews Band, Steve Miller Band, Phish, Black Crowes, Joe Walsh, Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic Popular: Beastie Boys (TCC Old Exhibition Hall and Compton Terrace), 311/Cypress Hill, Run DMC (UofA mall Spring Fling 1998), U2 (ASU Stadium 1992), Sting (Opened for the Grateful Dead, 1993 Las Vegas Silverbowl), Depeche Mode, Counting Crowes, INXS (Steel Pulse opened, 1988? Compton Terrace) Country/Western/Bluegrass: George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Asleep at the Wheel, Old Crow Medicine Show (Mesa Amphi, Grand Old Opry, Red Rocks), The Devil Makes 3, George Strait, Montgomery and Gentry, Craig Morgan (Yuma Co Fairgrounds), Brooks and Dunn, Gary Allen, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Randy Rogers Band (Yuma County Fair), Bobby Osborne, Dwight Yoakam, Dierks Bentley, Dale Watson, Justin Moore, Chris Stapleton. We have tickets to see Billy Currington in a few weeks. A little off topic but a number of these artists passed away shortly after I saw them perform. Jerry Garcia died in 1995 a few months after the last concert I saw him perform with the Dead in Las Vegas. Tom Petty died two years ago about 2 or 3 months after I saw him and Joe Walsh at the Red Rocks. Troy Gentry died about 6 months after I saw them at the Grizzly Rose in Denver. I think I am done seeing Willie. I really regret not seeing Randy Travis perform locally, a few months after his last concert in the area he had the major stroke or whatever happened. Now when stuff comes up, we just buy the tickets and go. Life is too short to not enjoy it.

Cold Storage or Processor Near Young?

Miller's Southwest usually has a refrigerated truck in Forest Lakes to leave your elk with, and you can pick up your meat in Queen Creek when its done. I did that with an elk I got in 23 in 2013 and plan on doing the same if my wife gets one this year.
