Sounds like the bigger models are biting again. Pacifica HAMMERED them! https://www.976-tuna.com/audios/75271

Welcome! Nice buck, good luck with the cape. Maybe try the classifieds with a Want to Buy ad.

I like to run this rig for super versatility. I have a Longhunter Top Lid with all my essentials. Below is a Cargo Panel inside a Pod all on a Duplex frame. I can add stuff sacks/duffle style bags at will. Probably 4.5# tops. (Actually weighed it with strap kit and cargo panel as shown. 7# on the dot. With a Grab it, cut off like 2.5 or 3 lbs.)

Most if not all of this nonsense recently boils down to people who refuse to take personal responsibility for their actions. It's getting really old.

A Duplex Lite Frame and a Bag the size you want is all you will ever need to hunt from a truck or base camp. The external frame is handy for hauling heavy loads and loads that won't fit well inside a bag. I can do 75% of what I do with my Late Season which has internal frame stays and does not detach. I put elk quarters/meat bags/etc right inside the pack. To haul in stuff like my blind, treestand, salt blocks, etc. that's where an external frame with the Cargo Panel shines. In this photo I am hauling out my elk head with my Late Season after hauling out the Front Shoulders inside the bag on a previous trip. I have it strapped in using only the Grab It. If I had my Duplex and Cargo Panel that head would have carried a little easier, but we made do.

Get a frame and a day pack sized bag, unless you do true backpacking, then the sky is the limit. Sandwich your meat bags between your bag and frame. Lots of options. 22 Mag looks good.

I've been using Kifaru packs for over 10 years now. Without a doubt their waist belts and suspension are some of the best in the business. That is where it really counts for a pack. If it doesn't fit your waist and torso correctly you are going to be uncomfortable with heavier weight. All their stuff is Made in USA so you can rest assured your money is well spent. Customer service is also very, very good if you ever need it. I honestly have not heard many warranty issues whatsoever. I'm sure they are out there but you just don't hear much about them. Seek Outside also seems to have some great products, as does Stone Glacier I'm sure but I have utmost confidence when recommending Kifaru.

My Wife and I bought a piece of property very close to the town of Heber, AZ a few years back. It is a little over 4 acres with pasture and pine trees. Nice spot for a retirement or summer place. Room for horses, etc. Passed perc test for septic no problem. Water and power is right at the road. Plenty of level ground to build a nice home or cabin. I want to keep it but my better judgement tells me we don't need it. Does anyone know of a good Realtor in the local area that is highly recommended? We are not exactly sure what the property is worth and need some excellent advice from a professional before we decide to put the property up for sale. If you happen to know someone, have questions, or might be interested please PM me. Thanks!

Any recipe for thresher shark or swordfish would probably be perfect.

Got mako on a a trip one time but I didn't catch it. It was eating people's fish so the crew gaffed it! Insane. El Capitan, Captain Steve Peterson back around 2002 or 2003 probably. Caught my first tuna on that trip.

I have been seeing a lot of references to wahoo this season but we'll see. 2015 was the only time they have been in SD waters. That fish supposedly came from waters to the west near Hawaii not Mexican waters.

Hard to find words to describe the variety of emotions that stirred up. Thanks for sharing! God Bless America!

For flylining a lighter set up I would recommend white or another bright color that will help you see your line. My 25/30# rig has 40# White Power Pro and I switch a short leader depending on the bite. For a heavier rig for deep dropping with a jig or sinker rig, I would maybe look into that line counter stuff. Most of the time I had very little idea how deep I was other than looking at the rings on the inside of the spool as a general reference. The bigger fish I got last time was on 80# White Power Pro with Blue Seaguar 60# fluoro for leader. I used a pretty short topshot on that one. Maybe only a few feet of fluoro, like 3 or 4' max. I would recommend a good bit longer. Maybe 25 yards or so. Especially if you are not casting that rig much. If you use some mono as a topshot in between, fluoro can be much shorter. More than one way to skin that cat, for sure.

I want to go up sometime and concentrate on doing the Arizona Trout Challenge with a fish of 12" or better on each. I think that would be a lot of work but a lot of fun! How long do you guys think that would take to accomplish with spinning gear? A week? Two?

Cool man, welcome to the best hunting site in AZ!

Awesome report man, thanks for sharing. NICE grade on those yellows!

That's funny Jake. The fleet have already caught over the average count of bluefin for the year and they sat at the dock for months with this virus crap going on. If they were on the water from March through May there would probably have been record numbers of bluefin caught this year. The big months for the warm water exotics hasn't even started yet really. September and October are the high months for yellowfin historically. I don't see what the doom and gloom is about. Tuna are the main show in town but they aren't the only show in town. If a boat goes bankrupt this year it's not because the fishing is bad that's for sure!
