    Spicy Bluefin Poke Bowl

Just wanted to add an update, had this again last night but added a few splashes of Ponzu to the Poke and it was even better! Very pleased with our little arrangement and my wife is too. I catch it and she prepares delicious meals. Match made in heaven!

I can't imagine the chaos of shooting from the highway. Sounds like the high road was taken. No shame in that. Sure hope his next tag comes soon. Hang in there guys!

Vowell on this site's brother Scott Vowell helped me find my dog. He is also a breeder and a trainer and has his own kennel. Not sure if he has any at the moment but Scott is a great guy to talk to and see if he can help. I would start there. Depends on what you want in a dog. They're all great! If you want one to hunt, I would try to find one that has proven hunting traits in the pedigree. The way that is demonstrated is through hunt tests and field trials. That is where the titles for the dogs come in. Not that a dog has to have titles in the pedigree to hunt but it might help you narrow things down or give you another frame of reference. The pedigree will also give you an idea about the health of the dog. If they have had the tests for the genetic stuff, hips, elbows, eyes, etc. that should also show up on the pedigree. https://azhuntinglabs.com/ Best advice I can give you is to be patient and do your homework. Find a breeder and dog that works best for you and your family. Keep your eyes open. Talk to your vet if you already have a dog or other people you trust. Wish you the best of luck!

    New pack recommendation?

I wouldn't be surprised if that pack right there is made in the same factory as the KUIU bags.

    WTB Golden lab puppy

Thanks! The lady I bought him from is named Jennifer Hood. She lives in the Phoenix metro area somewhere. She has the dam. The sire is Roxstar out of Wisconsin. Both Mom and Dad compete in field trials. 3 of the 4 grandparents were Amateur Field Champions. This dog is almost a year old. Just getting started. I probably won't do any competing with him but I'm sure he'll retrieve his fair share of birds. He is a natural.

    New pack recommendation?

That's a great pack at an outstanding price! I'm kinda surprised it hasn't sold yet. Those generation 1 Kifaru packs are really solid pieces of gear. Simple but effective. Less is more kinda thing. The Cargo Chair on top of that is a great bonus! You are correct about the cargo chair as a shelf. I bought an Express which was the same pack as spike camp but from the military line and had a cargo chair as well. Packed my pronghorn buck out whole, field dressed about 1/4 mile using the Cargo Chair. About died, but I did it. I sold it and upgraded to a Late Season when Kifaru did their second generation packs. Got quite a bit of my money back selling it on Rokslide. Kifaru Express and Cargo Chair in use packing my buddies ram's head off the mountain in 2010.

    New pack recommendation?

I'm curious if you guys that are concerned about price have considered Kifaru's offerings that are not separate pieces? They have quite a few packs that come as internal frame. The only drawback to that I can see is no meat shelf. Not sure that is a feature that is really worth $250-$300. Until about 10 years ago nobody had a meat shelf on their pack. For example the Kuttthroat is under 4 Lbs, is about 4K Cubic Inches, has 26 inch stays and the same belt and shoulder straps as a duplex for $425 (sold out of course). That's a similar or even better pack than my Late Season for a better price. Minikeg, 14er, 357 mag are also really nice packs without having to spend the money on a Duplex and separate bag. You can also save some by not getting camo. I think the green with the brown straps looks really cool on their packs.

There are Golden Retrievers and there are Labrador Retrievers with yellow coat color. There's no such thing as a "golden lab".

Hey Tony at least we are step up from Bloodydecks...they haze their new members until they show bikini pics of their wives fishing. Wait a minute, why aren't we doing that? Kidding of course! Kinda not...

    New pack recommendation?

All just depends on what you want to do with your pack. My Late Season pack I bought in 2011 and it was right around $500 then. Having a separate external frame is nice but not necessary for what most of us do. I have had meat and quarters in my Late Season on multiple occasions and it works very well. I try to put my money where my mouth is when I can. I hate that China is ruining us economically. Things like boots, packs, tents, and whatever else I can buy that's made in the USA I do it. I get it though. Can't buy a phone from the USA. Everybody has their own price in mind that is tolerable. For me a Kifaru pack is worth the additional cost to have a pack Made by Americans in Wheat Ridge CO. That might not mean a dang thing to some of you guys and that's fine too.

Sorry Bruce, didn't mean to take your topic on a tangent with one of my pet peeves. I also do not begrudge anybody with legitimate physical limitations who want to keep hunting. I just don't think this thing belongs in the field with a guy shooting a bow. It is legal and probably here to stay. I don't have to like it, and I am still entitled to my opinion. And yes I did address my concerns to the Commission when the time came.

I guess we can agree to disagree without making other arguments out if this one right? This is a shoulder fired weapon with a scope. Calling it an air "bow" is assinine!

    airbow

Honestly if its legal by all means use it, but calling it archery on any level is ridiculous. Its a gun that shoots an arrow and I stand by my statement that it doesn't belong in an archery season. Its more like a muzzleloader. The archers shooting 100 yards is the same as the 1000 yards rifle hunting and is a totally different topic.

Ya they started doing more late mule deer hunts, which is great. Pretty limited but they spread them around the Regions at least one hunt per Region generally. At least there is that option now where it did not exist before unless you got that Region 4 or 5 Muzzleloader or went to the Kaibab. Now there are some late muley hunts all over.
