Havalon Knives - Check these out!
joeeden replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
+ 1 on the Havalon. We used them this year on an elk and two coues deer. Incredible. I will never use another blade to skin game. The changing of the blade comment made me laugh. I still have a souvenier on my finger from the first changing of the blade! It is a piece of cake after you do it a few times. -
Jeff great Job! Gonna need a better story though amigo! Since we are only able to shoot one a year in AZ I am resigned to reading about everybody else's success! Way to go.

Can I guess incredible? 121 7/8 if incredible won't be close enough. Congratulations and WOW! -
I own an independent insurance agency and can shed some light on that for you. When you list these items (as I do!) be sure to take into account which deductible you choose. If you have a high deductible ($1000 or more) simply keep in mind you might not want to make that claim if you lost $2000 (swaros!) as you would not want to pay higher insurance rates for three years following the claim. If you were to lose everything in a fire for example, listing them would help as there are typically very low limits on a standard homeowners policy and you would not be properly reimbursed. As far as the government gaining knowledge I could only speculate but I would assume they could! Also, make sure you opt for replacement cost coverage as opposed to actual cash value. You do not want to pay an additional premium and have to fight an insurance company for depreciated values on optics etc. Also, coverage wise they do not need to be registered to you. At least with each of the companies I represent but I don't want to speak for all of them. Just my .02

Recurve or longbow would be a cool fix! Both eyes open.

Too graphic? Nah. Kidding aside good job!

Does anyone else shoot Fusion? I have been using them for a few years now and I am very impressed with them. Also, I bought about 7 different kinds of ammo and my gun liked them the best so that may be part of the bias.

antelope problem, any advice? :)

Boy, what a nice problem to have!! Although I can see your plight. I say whack the one you find every time. That scenario offers fewer potential disappointments, in my opinion. -
LMAO!! At least he was still smiling!

To hunt, or not to hunt in Mexico
joeeden replied to swcouesfanatic's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Wow really sorry to hear that. I have been down to old Mexico the last three years and have had basically the opposite experience. I have heard tales such as yours before and I am very sorry to hear that. I'm sure that many on this site will attest to researching the outfitter. I have always had my mind put at ease by constant communication with my outfitter. He spends roughly 6-8 weeks on the ranch before the trip and usually starting in the summer. It's important to have realistic expectations and I feel that an outfitter should be willing to do that. I had not only a mental picture of what to expect but dozens of pictures of the ranch, the country and the deer! I guess that's why I have had so much fun and success. We do not hunt the same ranches, but when I get to the new one, I feel like I have already been there because of the constant communication. My favorite quote from last year before the trip, because he knew the caliber of bucks. "If you shoot a 95" buck you cannot come back. The little ones need to grow Joe" Again, sorry to hear about your terrible experience. There are outfitters who can ensure your money is well spent is my .02 -
I have been down there a few times and my recommendation would be to not book anything prior to arriving. I have had great luck booking a trip once I was down there for much less. This time of year you will probably be targeting Roosterfish and the Bonita should be cooperating as well. I don't know how good the Dorado fishing will be but we have done well with Dorado and Marlin in May. You can just walk down the marina to one of the shops in there and figure something out for the next day. (much cheaper that way, I can't remember any of the ones I used by name but all my experiences were great) Another really fun thing to do is rent a water taxi and bring your own tackle and have him troll you around for an hour or two with Kastmasters and Crocodiles or buy some cut bait. Very inexpensive and very fun. I am jealous, have a great trip. Joe

Great find! If a medium sized hike is 10 hours I have a lot of work to do! There are only about 14 hours of light per day right now amigo. I don't even want to know what a big hike would consist of.
