Kuiu Rain Gear - have questions regarding men's sizing
joeeden replied to naturegirl's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I'm 6'2" 190 and I would most likely buy the Med. pants (usually 34-36) and XL top. I also have long arms. I don't own the Kuiu gear but I've heard it's awesome. -
130# Tom ready for pick up (pic heavy)

I know where to go if I'm lucky enough to tag a lion. That is exceptional! The eyes especially. It seems to me that must be the hardest part because they frequently look a little "off" to me. Not that one! Great work.- 17 replies

Pure Karma that you drew the 8 tag. Congrats to you!

It doesn't hold up to the common sense test. I have a good friend from Arkansas and it drives him crazy. It's just how we do it out here.

Hey everyone, I am going to try to process my KS whitetail this year. I am about to debone the quarters and I have a few questions for the brilliant minds on this forum. 1. I want mostly bulk sausage, (italian, breakfast, chorizo) I have seen recipes for all but I'm not clear on how much pork fat to add and how to go about it. It appears I should grind all of the venison coarsely, then mix with pork fat/shoulder and then season as I'd like. I don't want to grind it all now only to find out I should have mixed the pork first. 2. What kind of pork do you guys buy? I've seen folks recommend that the butcher cut a shoulder into strips ready for the grinder. Not sure if it's an option but sounds easier. 3. I do want some burger and I'm wondering what kind of ratio you guys use for that as well. I feel like I've asked everything except how to kill the deer, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Poacher Ruined my hunt - still upset
joeeden replied to Rifle2Bow's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Good job reporting it. PSA - You can have a beer with lunch and still hunt pretty hard. I've seen it happen. -
That is really cool! Great job! I'm waiting, not so patiently, for my daughters to be old enough. Congratulations and great story!

Five lions in ANY spot is a ton! Very cool man. That's just nuts.

Several reasons; 1. The deer were bedded on south east facing slopes in the shade of day already. I spotted doe's and a small buck at about 450 yards and they had me pegged sitting in the bright sun of a west facing slope. I knew that when the sun went behind the mountains it would make it easier for me not to stand out like a sore thumb in the broad daylight. 2. I was hoping the wind settled as the sun settled 3. I was hoping the buck would get up as it got closer to last light. not sure if any one of these reasons made a hill of beans difference but there ya have it. Those are good reasons! Congrats again!

Awesome buck! I have a question, just out of curiousity, why wait until 5 to move in if he was bedded?

An question about procedure...
joeeden replied to macknnc's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Okay, question here...I know it may not be sporting...and it may not even be legal...but...for an example..here in NC, a great way to hunt cottontails is to try to pop them on the run with .22 semi auto....that seems a vaild way to take running quail too...(since western quail are known as runners...) so yea or nay? If you can shoot Gambel's quail this way, not only is it legal, but very dang impressive. I like the birds to get up first. However, a great way to do that is to shoot one that's running. -
I was thinking the same thing. If 2-6 predators is an average day, you are hands down the best in the business. And it's not close.
-
You guys will go in together with 15. They are averaged.

One more reason to be jealous of a 10 year old! Congratulations, so awesome!

Mike Coover's 630 Yard Spot and Stalk Bear Hunt with the AZ Ground Pounders

Sweet! Great job, great bear! I think I want to hunt with guys named Cash and Thumper. Just sayin. -
Just go to Kauai. You will thank everyone on here when you get back. It's incredibly beautiful, lots to do and doesn't feel touristy at all especially compared to the Big Island. Wonderful fishing, great food, kayaking, golf, perfect beaches and snorkeling. Other than that it sucks.

Could not believe my eyes
joeeden replied to capoeirajosh's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
That is so awesome! I have been very lucky to see a fair amount of lions, but never in range with a tag in my pocket. How cool to watch one go from huntress to hunted! -
I think my favorite part, Chico, is you asking what is so hard to understand? Dude, all of it. Please elaborate on what happened.

This is why i love this site!!! This deer looks poached to me. Sorry fellas I couldn't help it. Congrats on a stud Muley!

Just out of curiousity, were they bugling in the northern or southern half of the unit? I hope that isn't to specific a question.
-
Great point. I will pay $70, no screw it $100 for anyone that can find a 120+ buck in 35b in November. Joking aside, incredible deer. Thank you for sharing it with us and many congrats!

What's your favorite dove ammo so far this year?
joeeden replied to Scooter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
.375 is ok but the meat ends up a little rare. I like a 460 nitro or a 458 remington for a nice crispy bird. -
How many rounds through it etc. etc. Nice looking gun.

+ 1 Casey's does a great job.
