Just a Nov unit 29 WT hunt for me. Wife and son got Dec unit 31 WT and Oct cow elk in unit 3C-W! I am happy about hunting with some buddies in Nov. and chasing cows in Oct. but honestly I am pumped for the wife and son's Dec WT hunt more than those two hunts put together. Lee

az4life; You are truly a man of wisdom. A man of action. A man with no more influence over these idiots than I have! What limb or appendage does a guy have to give up to find out what refund checks to expect! couesdiehard p.s. Are we there yet?

matthewp45, Your experiment shows a profound tendency toward logic that bureaucrats and non-hunters could never understand. However my respect for your logic deteriorated quickly when I realized you did not seize the opportunity to HELP your innocent little one with that RANDOM selection! C'mon you could have helped all your brother hunters by moving the calendar a little to right or nudging the little angel's arm a little to the left! Work with us here! WE CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE STINKIN' 21ST MAN!!!! Sorry about that I hope the little one didn't read that. couesdiehard

She just can't stand for me to enjoy myself! If this keeps up I'm gonna have to...... She's hollerin' something at me again! What do you mean," L-I-F-E Not W-I-F-E you M-O-R-O-N!"? You should mind your own business woman! It says right here he don't have a.....OOPs! Sorry, Honey. Gotta go! couesdiehard p.s. If your laughin' you probably don't have a L-I-F-E! -
Hey Lark, True Bureaucrat speak. I didn't know you had it in ya! If that is from the horse's mouth we need to get rid of that bag of bones! LOL Lee

Now when you go to the Draw results tab, it won't even allow you to click on "View Draw Results". That should mean that they are loading the info now! If we can't see results by tonight I may go crazy.......OK crazier! couesdiehard

You guys are completely forgetting about the overabundant buffalo population in 42. That's one sweet tag.

I am personally getting tired of having to take my shoes off to count all the points on the deer I kill (Eastern or Western count) so I am seriously considering only taking 1-pointers (eastern count - like a unicorn) I am pretty sure I can that high without removing my shoes. Lee

Casey, Have an awesome day! Happy Birthday! Lee

Paying the indians
couesdiehard replied to bullwidgeon's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I am a city employee. Best thing about it is getting paid to hunt! Oh, and remind me to NEVER EVER shake hands with Kaffer62! couesdiehard -
I thought the best coues hunt is always the one you are on or the next one you are waiting for. Maybe that's just me. December 2005 in unit 31. Details to follow.... couesdiehard

rifle choice for the year
couesdiehard replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
.25-06, That round is sorta like a loud-mouth little brother ain't it. I mean he's always running his mouth off, because he knows if he gets in trouble, big brother .30-06 will take care of business. All in all the .25-06 comes from a great blood-line and is far better than the .270 and the like, but he will always be an also-ran. Lee -
.270, Just when I think you have lost all of your sense (.270 better than an 06 and a .300!) you go and totally redeem yourself. Seriously, you are right about being unreasonable. I think patience and understanding will work the best in this situation too. Believe me I don't agree with the lady, but I would be pretty fired up if someone had molested my son for years and my son was now a molester! I would just handle it a lot different than she did. She is doing what she thinks will help her son, as screwed up as it is. Blasting, bulldozing, and gunfire won't solve a thing. Lee

rifle choice for the year
couesdiehard replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
azcoueshuntr, Take a deep breath and relax. These are just opinions and they are like a-holes, everybody has one. Did someone say something in the thread that insulted your favorite rifle or round? If someone insults your favorite rifle or round that is worse than insulting your favorite girl and I don't blame you for calling them names! But there are plenty of us on the forum who understand your pain. .30-06 and .300 WSM are the best rounds ever made for every critter that ever walked the earth and the Winchester Model 70 is the only big-game rifle worthy of shooting either of these rounds!!! LOL Lee -
Lark, You are right about that. What if you had a once-in-a-lifetime sheep tag in there and the only access to the biggest ram was through her property. Would you pay the $25 "trespass fee" that she is going to donate for sex therapy? I think I would be very tempted to break a law or two rather than pay her. Lee

BASS, Last paragraph on page 42 of the regs in reference to Population Management Hunts says, "the annual bag limit for elk(1 per calendar year) and buffalo (1 per lifetime) still applies." So if you shoot a buffalo on this hunt you are basically done you are basically done hunting buff in AZ. Lee

Even if she sits in jail but keeps the gate locked it's going to take a lawsuit to get that gate open. She seems pretty stubborn and I'll bet jail won't impress her except that she will want her boy out of jail even more. This is obviously an extreme case but I think we are going to see a lot more of people holding access to public land for ransom. The whole situation sucks. Lee
-
DesertBull, You hit it on the head. The regs changed this year to allot 20% of the tags in those bonus point hunts to the folks with the highest bonus points for each hunt. In theory that will clear a lot of the folks with max points out of the pool, but in the case of antelope and sheep I think there are so many with the max. that 20% still won't deplete those at max. Guys, Don't claim to be an expert but I know what I've seen. Seen plenty of screwed up meat from ballistic tips and used Remington extended range crap for one season (They might as well have called them "explosive range"). My buddy got me started on Barnes copper X-bullets because of the way they perform. They do punch straight through most times. .30 caliber on the way in, and about .60 caliber on the way out. If the impact doesn't put the animal down the rapid blood loss out of two gaping holes dropped them within feet, not yards. We recovered one bullet from a bull elk. Bullet had gone through bone and vitals and through the far shoulder bone to lodge under the skin. On the scale at home it weighed the same grains as when it was loaded. A bullet that performs that dependable, accurate and leaves as much of that precious whitetail meat for the eating as possible, that's a winner to me. Just my 2 cents. Lee

By my count I have taken 5 coues. The first was a nearly perfectly symmetrical 82 pointer. My largest was two seasons later. He is really massive and has great main beams but short points and is only a 2X3. I hope to improve this year... Lee

Hmmm, Can you say "Fish Fry"? Lee

Amanda, Thanks for the update. It looks a good product but it does look kind of attractive to vandals. I have seen so many storage tanks and troughs shot up and supply lines broken off, etc. On the bright side the components seem pretty simple to repair. Glad it was a positive meeting. I still have hope for the 12 and 13 units deer herd. Thanks again. Lee

Sounds productive. Did the meeting have a pretty positive tone? couesdiehard

I think this guy may have disqualified his world record because he neither killed it or released it back into the wild. Maybe somebody on the forum knows more but I thought I read somewhere that the IGFA will only accept those two categories. That would be a shame, but if I'm ever in Kansas City I am going to see that bad boy! couesdiehard
