    2 days left

This is generally the time of year when bucks are in bachelor groups and generally not with or around does. Good advice to start where you see does and widen your search area. When you find one buck there will probably be more with him. Don't go too far from where you see the does, especially this year. The does and fawns have to be staying fairly close to regular water this year and guess what so will the bucks. Hope you do well. Lee

    Best coues buck to date.

cmc, How do rifles and scopes tend to get out of alignment in coues country? It has happened to me more than once and it will make you prematurely grey. Nice recovery and great buck. Lee

**UPDATE!! * i need some prayers please *

Hang in there brother. He has a plan for every one of us. My prayers are with you. You may have to change the way you do things but it doesn't mean it will be any less challenging or less enjoyable. Keep an open mind and heart and things will improve. Guys like you give me inspiration. Since I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis I tend to get caught up in the pain. Not because it's unbearable but because it's annoying. Then I hear from guys like yourself who manage to accomplish a lot more than myself while suffering a lot more and I kick myself square in the butt and tell myself to count my blessings! Lee

    Are reloading supplies still scarce?

Thanks guys, I plan on heading down to Cabela's this weekend. Wish me luck.
  15. Last night spent some time doing inventory of my hunting reloads and supplies. Since my two sons were drawn for deer with me I plan on doing some extra practice shooting with them and possibly working up a lighter load for them to use. Well I discovered I only have a half pound of IMR 4831 left and I would like to get another pound. Is it still difficult to find powder and other supplies? Any suggestions? Lee

    What's Up With The Signs

I've seen this down south before. I believe I was told that through the sportsman/landowner access program G&F will post signs on gates you are allowed to access through this program and in return they post portions of the property for the landowner where they don't want to allow access.

NAU Capital assets lot, silver doge new model

sam and jeff, No problem getting you in contact. I read the post and figured how many CWT members with silver Dodge trucks could be hanging around NAU everyday. Sam you lucked out finding azyoung, he is one heck of a hunter and one of my favorite story-tellers of all time. Jeff, you still observing the 3 second rule on campus? Good luck to you both this year in the hunts. Lee

coyotekid, Think that may be my bud. Sent him a pm and told him to check out the post. Looks he hasn't been on the forum for a couple weeks. Hopefully he'll get the email notification and check out the post. Lee
  19. I know the base camp your speaking of and you are right, don't see how anybody could do much of anything while drinking all that Scotch! Wish I had met the gentleman. Sounds like another of the real characters we have met up with down there.

    I'd like to start a debate.....about points....

We have always called that a 3 x 3 (plus eyeguards). I think the Western Count system became what it is because most western deer hunting was for muleys where much of the time eyeguards are small to non-existent. I like the more specific way the western count describes a rack. In eastern count a 10-point could be what we true deer hunters in the West call a 1 x 9 without eyeguards!

    Draw results

me & my twin 14 yr old sons are goin to 34A Nov 27 - Dec 3 to hunt coues. Still predict some Capt. Morgan in my near future, but now it will be celebratory!

worst draw system in the west!!!

Just spoke to an operator @ AZG&F who said the results will be available next Mon. or Tues. This blows! I was going to spend the weekend planning scouting, hunting and vacation trips. Now I will probably have to do yard work or something the wife wants me to do. Don't they understand my entire year revolves around knowing when and where I will be hunting Coues deer? I believe there is some Capt. Morgan in my near future.

Leica Douvid 10+15x50... Who has used them?

DesertDweller, Have owned my 10+15x50's for going on 5 years now. Love the flexibility. As far as knocking around I learned the hard way that you should invest in a good binocular harness that keeps the glass well protected. Also by the Swaro 50mm objective lens flip-down covers. Swaro 15 powers are slightly brighter on a tripod but I have never seen a pair of 15's in a case spot up a coues while on a catch your breath pause on a hike. The Leicas around your neck at 10 power are great for that. I also crank them down to 10 power on the tripod in the 10-15 minutes of light for better light-gathering at shootable ranges at last light. Facts are that it's a personal choice and you can't go wrong with Leica or Swaros glass or warranty. I speak from experience for Leica's warranty and have buddies that will praise Swaros warranty to their graves. Set up both glass next to each other and try them out, but remember to put them both around your neck and try to freehand glass something. Hope this helps. Fact took a buddy hunting with me last October and outspotted his Steiner's everyday. He was so impressed he went out and bought 15 POWER SWAROS! Felt gut-shot! Just kidding. Had to compliment him on a fine choice. Lee
