Matt who are you kidding. You and Christian would have trouble spotting a fat lady at the apache gold buffet let a lone a 110" deer!
  2. Ok anyone else out there want to admit that they jammed out to Miley Cyrus while they hunted last month. All you middle aged deer hunters put your hands in the air. I know for a fact yumabowhunter did. I heard Mathew sang it on the Res hunt also.
  3. How about bringing me a big busty blonde?

The cell phone video was a little shakey. Yumabowhunter is to blame for that.

    New Mexico Mule Deer

When you wiped the gravel off of its mouth from the road, you should have cleaned off that blood on its nose. How far off the road did you drag it for that picture? Any one else have a buddy that is constantly hunting while your left at home working?

I heard that the rancher opened the gate, let the deer out, and you shot it off the road. Just what I heard.

Here is another idea. They say that there are 13 lions in the kofas, from dna testing scat. I think that they should have to use the same multiplier that they use with sheep to determine the lion population. That would put the count around 26 which is a lot of eaten going on. Not that it would make much difference in their approach.

Got this info on the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge Bighorn Sheep Survey Results. Notice the difference between the actual count and the GUestimate which is the number that they will tell everyone. Instead of counting the sheep from a copter and then doubling the number because they think that some are hiding in the top of a cactus. Why not take the actual and subtract a few because they more than likely counted some of the same ones twice. Any way you look at it the people in charge over the last 15 years should all be fired. That aint happening but maybe if we call them all idiots enough times maybe they will feel a little embarrassed. 10. "This is a great victory and great news"? I guess that depends on whether you are doing the fleeceing or being fleeced. My kid accidently leaves the gate open, the yellow lab gets out, and one of 50 gestapo dog catchers running around catches him before he comes home and I am out a ton of money to get him back. Or how about this one. I am working at my shop in the middle of a 400 acre farm when a blasted dog catcher sees my dog playing in my field and unbeknownst to me drives in and picks him up. I call the pound to see if they have him and they say that they cant give that information out over the phone and that I will have to come in and look around. It cost me an arm and a leg to break him out and he had a fricken cough for a month. Needless to say I absolutely hate the dog catcher/pound with a passion. No offence meant directed at you James.

  12. My experience has shown that it is exactly one week before or one week after I go hunting. Hope that helps.

Oh man, does anyone else out there wish that we could have a permanent moratorium on rule making state and nation wide? Am I the only one that wishes all the lawdawgs would just leave well enough alone?

By the way bowfly If you have ranchland that you need help planting or HUNTING give me a call. There are two things that you will soon find out or might already know about Arizona. One, that you already encountered, is our game n fish. They have a lot of good people but they also seem to have been infiltrated by a whole bunch of left wing wackos. The second is that Arizona in general doesnt seem to respect private property rights. I guess, to be fair to the game n fish there seem to be a lot of liberal naturalists even on this hunting site so maybe they are an even representation of who they represent.

Very well said Coues and sheep! Does the do nothing animals will adapt argument make any one Else's skin crawl? The game n fish took that approach in the kofas and now we have a few lions, no sheep, no deer, and nothing to hunt. But at least they let nature run its course.

The camera ban was because the flash disrupted the ambiance and natural moonlight while the lions were trying to eat. Duh! The timing of the ban, I am sure, was purely coincidental. Besides if they hadn't of baned cameras then it might have gone to a vote and the public would surely have banned it. I am just messing with ya Rembrant.

I get your point and agree with your goals completely. I, like many Right-wingers, am just completely disgusted with the state of our country as a whole. This has made me into a bitter old man at the age of 34.

For one thing I didnt think that I was sending my letter to the "anti hunters." Secondly our game department is incompetant. Furthermore, last I checked the game department mandated that we can not hunt lions in wildlife refuges so a public vote wouldnt affect that to much. I do get your point, but you write your letter how you want and I will write mine how I want. It is essentially falling on deaf ears anyway as we have been discussing this issue for over ten years now. I probably shouldnt have responded back as I would hate to further Fuel the flame.

Here is the babbling long winded diatribe that I emailed them. Where do I start with my comments? First and foremost it is a crying shame what has happened to the Kofas. Having been born and raised only minutes away from the Kofas I have spent countless hours out in the desert hunting and camping and enjoying all it offered. The complete and utter mismanagement that has taken place on the refuge is unconscionable but sadly the norm for a government run agency. The loss of wildlife on the Kofas obviously didn't happen overnight. At least ten years ago a group of us hunters approached an overzealous ranger named Susan and told her that there were lion tracks in some of the washes. Something needed to be done but of course they didn't believe it at the time. About three to five years later we started finding kills and again told them something should be done or there would not be any animals left to hunt. Again nothing was done. In that same period of time the deer began to disappear from the mountains and only could be found in the flats of the dessert and countless sheep were found dead around the water. Not only did they not act, they actually tried to sugar coat it by putting out erroneous sheep over counts and under counting the lions. So basically I learned that if you want to know the actual numbers always cut in half their sheep and deer estimates and at least double their lion estimate. We won a steak dinner from betting an officer on what the counts were going to be, not sure about the legality of that one. Three things that I find repulsive are that none of this is in hindsight, this was easily predicted, it should have been prevented. The other injustice is that those in charge of the mismanagement will never be held accountable. Everyone in a management position in the last ten years should be ashamed and held accountable so that they are not able to mismanage something else. If any business was run as you all have managed the kofas everyone would have been fired and the business would be broke. To put it into perspective let us look at some of the numbers. There were at least 2000 sheep during its high point. I would bet they couldn't find 100 by air at this point even using their "see one multiply by a factor of seven method." No one is even talking about how this has decimated the deer herd. They have also been saying that there are five lions on the Kofas, which means in actuality that there are 10 to 15. If each one eats a mere 50 animals a year that is around 500 kills in an area with maybe 300 deer and sheep. This doesn't take a fisheries and wildlife biologist to figure out. Of course the often quoted, local "expert," that lives in a house on the kofas would have you believe that we have the world’s only vegetarian mountain lion. Or that it only eats the weak or diseased ones. Oh yes, lets never leave out the old catch all drought factor or how about the FWS favorite excuse, disease killed them. The only disease that I have seen is Lionittis. It kills the young and old, the sick and the healthy and anything in between. Here are some rhetorical questions. Why are lions considered big game instead of a normal predator? Why are lions protected in almost all sheep areas of the state. You would not have to collar and kill lions, creating a public relations nightmare if you had not protected and established them in the first place. If you would have treated them like a coyote they would still exist but not be near the problem that they have become. The sad part is that it is to late for the Kofas and even sadder is that as a state and a country we increasingly value predators more than big game animals. The main problem is not with the leftist, anti hunting, environmentalist groups it is within the agencies that we trust to manage our resources. The Arizona game and fish and the Us fish and wildlife could put all their people in a room and could not get a consensus on weather lions eat sheep! Without a doubt and with one hundred percent certainty the Kofa sheep heard would be healthy with an absence of lions. That has never been in question. The question is whose agenda within the governing agencies will win out. Sincerely, Jake Dunn

    help tuning bow

I need some help with my bow. I cannot for the life of me get my broad heads to pattern. My field tips shoot perfect but when I try and pattern with G5 broad heads they are all over the place. I started from scratch a couple days ago using some instructions off the Internet and set the tiller and used paper to tune it but still the broad heads wont pattern. After an hour of fighting it tonight I shot five broad heads at fifty yards and hit the 3d deer all over the place then shot two field tips and put them in the vitals about an inch apart. That is when I quit to get some help. The only thing I haven't done that I can think of is mess with the alignment of the blades with respect to the fletchings. Would that substantially effect the flight? Thanks for any help.
